Hi, Nothing unusual here, but thanks for looking. Aside from the tongue-in-cheek answers I give to let off steam, I make a sincere attempt at helping with every question I choose to answer.
LinkSys router not forwarding WOL packet when all machines asleep.?
I'm unable to successfully send a WOL packet to my machines (which are behind a LinkSys BEFSW11 router) 0NLY IF both machines are asleep. If either of them is running, I can successfully wake the other with a properly formatted WOL packet from my machine at work. Router is configured to broadcast the WOL packet to all my machines, but it's as though the router never 'links up' with the cable modem if there's not a machine awake in my home network. Any ideas?
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade ago93 Accord EX, ABS problem after replacing front rotors?
Replaced both front rotors. After replacing second (passenger) side, car now has some sort of ABS problem. It didn't have the problem after replacing first rotor. Problem: ABS activates whenever I even lightly depress brake pedal. No ABS trouble light on at any time. I hear a slight ticking- as though the ABS might even be activating while I'm NOT applying braking, but I definitely hear and feel it in the pedal when I AM braking. I checked the wiring to ABS sensor. Don't see any way to adjust gap from sensor to ridged ring it senses. Any help appreciated. Please, no chiding me to 'take it to a dealer'....I replaced the rotors myself BECAUSE I don't have the money to take it to a dealer right now. Thanks.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoJURY DUTY: How much should I have been paid?
I was recently called for federal jurty duty. The letter stated that the summons was for a period of 10 days. As it worked out, I served one day & wasn't required to 'call-back' NOW! Fast forward a few weeks. I've just received my check- and I opened it and was shocked that it's for about $450! Does anyone here know if that's an apppropriate figure for federal jury duty service?? I've genuinely TRIED to find ANYone to call who can verify the amount. Goodness knows I have no moral problem with accepting the money- but I'd rather not spend this money on such frivolities as $3/gas and groceries; only to have them come knocking 90-days from now demanding their money back. And while I can 'rationalize' it by estimating that I was being paid for the 10-days (despite the fact that I only had to make the drive ONCE)... I'd really like to KNOW that this money's mine to keep before I celebrate.
2 AnswersCivic Participation1 decade agoWindows program install builder that simply uses before & after snapshots?
I'm looking for an app that will build a VERY SIMPLE install file to install three applications without user intervention. I'm not looking to learn a whole new scripting language myself. I would much prefer an install builder that takes a before and after snapshot of the machine & packages the differences into a file that the user could double-click on to install the whole set of programs. And of course, since this is for work; it has to be a legal freeware program. Thanks!
1 AnswerProgramming & Design1 decade agoIs it possible to replace the glass in sliding glass doors?
We have four sets of sliding glass doors- ALL of which, are fogged in-between the double-panes. Rather than rip out the entire doors, it certainly SEEMS like there should be a way to simply remove the glass from the "C" shaped aluminum frame and replace it with another glass assembly. I've removed the entire glass 'sandwich' from the frame before- so I know it's possible... but no one locally seems to know who could provide the replacement assembly. And, of course, I have absolutely NO idea of the doors' original manufacturer. Ideas/suggestions anyone?
