Nucleophilic Reaction stuff?
I'm having trouble understanding SN2/E2 and SN1/E1 reactions. If anyone can explain the basics, I'd be really happy. So far, I know SN2's basic rule for substitution reactions, but after the basics, it gets all messy. Thank you for your concern.
1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoPlease explain Resonance Structures?
I realized that resonance structures are one of the most vital information that is needed to understand organic chemistry... but I just don't understand the basic rules of it, such as why an Oxygen wants a Negative charge while Carbon wants Positive? Why one structure is more valid than the other? It is really confusing... and organic chemistry makes me feel really stupid (especially when the other people in my class seem to all know what they are doing), so if anyone can explain the basic rules so that I can understand, it would be really helpful. Thank you.
4 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoQuelques Notes Pour Anna?
For those of you who have heard this song before, do you know if there is like a story to this song or some sort of background? I'd really like to know if there is. In Korean, it translates to "슬픈 안나를 위하여", meaning a song dedicated to sad Anna... why is Anna sad? I'm just curious (although I doubt I'll get any answers), but thanks :)
1 AnswerOther - Music1 decade agoHelp me understand some Bible verses please ^_^?
Right... I'm not trying to say anything crazy here or anything, but I read some scary things from the Bible...
And this is Jesus saying : "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law."
That is in Matthew 10:34-35 in the King James Version. So I was like... um, okay. So it's KJV. Let's read the NIV... but it was still the same message. And Jesus was talking about love... and here He is stating that he is here to bring a sword, not peace, and turn everyone against each other! O_O
Also, Malachi 1:2-3::
"I have loved you," says the LORD. "But you ask, 'How have you loved us?'
"Was not Esau Jacob's brother?" the LORD says. "Yet I have loved Jacob, 3 but Esau I have hated, and I have turned his mountains into a wasteland and left his inheritance to the desert jackals."
18 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoFor those who have joined the NSCS...?
I got this mail stating that I have been nominated for membership in the National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS)... which is an honor society for high-achieving first- and second-year college students... which is me (yeah right -__-)...
Anyways, it is asking me to join... and for those who are members of the NSCS, I need your opinions about this thing. Is it worth applying? Thanks.
1 AnswerHigher Education (University +)1 decade ago2/25/08- Do you go to Stony Brook University?
Apparently some person was found holding a handgun near the Student Activities Center Cafeteria and ran away to Harriman Hall (I had Chemistry class there O_O)...
So guys... please be careful and watch out for any suspicious acitivities. I'll be having a Calculus test at 8:30 PM in Earth and Space Sciences tonight... and that's REALLY near Harriman Hall... what to do...

4 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoDoes anyone know what "Slifer no swiping! Slifer no swiping! Slifer no swiping!" is a reference to?
I still don't get it, and everyone else finds it funny. If anyone would tell me what it's supposed to parody, then you get 10 points. Thanks.
Note: It's from Yu-gi-oh the Abridged Movie -__-
3 AnswersCard Games1 decade agoUsing the Nernst Equation to Find Ksp?
Hello. I'm supposed to do this problem for chemistry, and it is quite difficult:
There's a concentration cell that has both electrodes made of some metal M. Solution A in one compartnemt of the cell contains 1.0 M M^(2+) <--- (that is referring to the charge). Solution B in the other cell compartment has a volume of 1.00 L. At the beginning of the experiment 0.0100 mol of M(NO3)2 and 0.0100 mol of Na2SO4 are dissolved in solution B where the reaction:
M^(2+) (aq) + SO4^(2-) (aq) <--> MSO4(s)
occurs. It has a cell potential of +0.44 V @ 25 C. The reaction:
M^(2+) + 2e- ----> M
has a standard reduction potential of +0.80 V and no other redox process occurs in the cell. Calculate Ksp for MSO4(s) at 25 C.
Wait... and I'll show you how I did it but I think it is wrong.
2 AnswersChemistry1 decade agoThe Superpower Question?
One really cliche question:
If you were to have super powers... what powers would you have? (limit up to four) Also tell me your alignment: good, neutral, or evil.
I'm asking this for fun... and the one that has the most balanced superhero/villain gets 10 points :)
If you'd like, you can give him/her a background story too.

9 AnswersTrivia1 decade agoSeries and Sequences?
Okay... math is usually easy for me, but right now, I have a teacher who really has problem with English (sorry).
We are starting off with series and sequences, and this thing is somewhat confusing. First off, I need someone to explain what makes a sequence convergent or divergent (including trigonometric series), what a partial sum is, and what bounded and monotonic series are. For some reason, I cannot absorb what I'm supposed to learn in class.
I would really appreciate it if someone would explain the rules to these things. It's annoying... and I cannot do anything about it. And does L'Hospital rule involve taking derivatives or integrals?
If you're confused about what I'm asking, I can't blame you, because I'm just as confused on what I'm learning...
4 AnswersMathematics1 decade agoHelp winning in Starcraft BNet X_X?
No, I don't play Money Maps, and I haven't played Brood War in a while, so I had to make a new account. There I meet two people in Blood Bath playing Terrans... and I was allied with some other guy... and somehow, they always wipe out my ally first, and then they rush me with mass tanks, marines, and ghosts with Nukes in less than 15 minutes O_O?
I kept scanning over my base, but there was absolutely NO GHOSTS to be found... and then I got owned O_O
It's pathetic, but yes, I'm Korean... and I feel like I'm the only Korean bad at Starcraft. I told them that I'm from Korea (they're from Germany)... and they wouldn't believe me. Of course, I'm not surprised, but you don't have to be Korean to be good at Starcraft, believe me.
I didn't get rushed by Zergs (as usual), nor mass Zealots from Protoss (which is always expected), but from Terrans? How do you play Terrans properly? If anyone wants to spar with me on BNet just so WE can get better, my name is Wraith89 (X_X)
BTW I play Terran.
5 AnswersVideo & Online Games1 decade agoAbout Chemical Equilibrium...?
Let's see... in some room temperature, the equilibrium reaction is
H20(g) + CO(g) <--> H2(g) + CO2(g)
And the Equilibrium Constant (K) = 2.0
There are 8 H20 Molecules and 6 CO molecules in a 1.0 L container. When equilibrium is reached, how many molecules of H20, CO, H2, and CO2 are there?
I realized by trying to balance the equation, Carbon is the limiting reagent because there are two O2 left that have no Carbon partners at the right side of the equation... but that didn't seem to help a lot.
1 AnswerChemistry1 decade agoStarcraft II Terran Campaign Question?
This may be trivial to most people, but it just bothers me. When I saw the video for the Terran campaign, Raynor's men were red! Now that's a little strange to me because I thought red was Arcturus's men. Now where's Raynor's original team color blue? It's just befuddling me, or maybe Blizzard may change their colors... I don't know.
Also, where did the Koprulu sector get Medics? I thought they were UED exclusive?
