Olfactory Hallucinations?
I am almost 6 months pregnant. This is my third child and this has never happened to me. I have been smelling cigarette smoke for 3 days now. I smell it constantly, with every breath I take. No one around me smokes....I do not smoke, of course. The smell seems so strong, I cannot even smell things that are around me unless I force myself to. Last night I had to put VICKS up my nose to stop it. I was fine all morning, then a little while ago it came back. Has anyone else ever had this problem?
1 AnswerPregnancy1 decade agoIs it worth it for me to switch daycares for a cheaper price?
My daughter is going to be 2 in August. She has been attending the same nursery/daycare since she was 6 weeks old. I adore the place and the employees and have no real complaints about it. It is a very clean, loving and safe environment for her and she loves to go. The only downside is that it is the most expensive place in the city. Now I am pregnant and concerned about paying for 2 kids in that daycare, so I started looking around. I found a daycare that is comparable in cleanliness, safety, etc. and it is $40 less a week! So my question is, should I put my daughter through the hassle/hurt of a new nursery/daycare for saving some money, or should I find another alternative to paying for nursery/daycare for 2 kids? Please do not make ugly comments about me getting a job, or stop having kids I cannot afford, etc. I am a paralegal and my husband is a police officer. We both make very decent money, but this economy is rough right now, and we like to have the best for our children.
3 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoQuestion about Health Insurance?
My husband has our family insured with his employer, a police department. We were with BlueCross BlueShield, but the employer switched to United HealthCare in the blink of an eye, and in the middle of November 2008. With BCBS we had no deductibles, only co-pays, and we paid 20% of anything serious, such as surgeries. With UHC, we now have a $1500 deductible PER INSURED. Right before the insurance was changed (before we even knew it was going to change) I was referred to a neurologist for carpal tunnel with BCBS. Before the neuro could get me to the surgeon the next week, our insurance changed. So, I saw the surgeon under UHC. I find out the surgery is going to cost me $1500 because of my deductible. I do not have $1500 to throw down right now. I have 2 kids, we had damage from Hurricane Ike, and Christmas is way too close. My carpal tunnel is very severe in my right arm and is causing me a lot of pain and problems. My question is, shouldn't BCBS be responsible for this surgery, since it is truly a pre-existing condition, and was diagnosed while I was covered by BCBS? If so, I would only be responsible for about $600. P.S. - UHC is not considering it pre-existing.
4 AnswersInsurance1 decade agoStuck with a house we can't afford?
My husband and I were considering putting our house for sale so we could try and find something with a lower note. We are starting to struggle with our note and don't want to get in too deep. We bought it for $127,000...which is what is was appraised at, of course. We still owe $123,000. And now, the appraisal district only has it appraised at $101,500. And from what I understand, we cannot refinance either, because of that. I do not understand how a brand new home in a brand new subdivision can depriciate in value that much, that fast. We don't know what to do...any advice would be very much appreciated.
7 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWhy would he lie to me and what should I do?
My husband was watching a basketball game in the garage with his sister and friend last night. They decid to go to the bar to finish watching it.He comes in at 1am and changes his clothes and I ask where he is going and he says in the garage. I ask why he had to change to go back in the garage. He says he didn't have to but wanted to and broke the zipper on his shorts. He was in shorts and a tshirt and was now in a dressier shirt and jeans. He said his sister and friend still there.I kept up with the questions until I was sure he was lying and went to look in the garage which was empty.I open the front door and his sister and friend are waiting in the truck.I asked her where they were going and she has an OH SH1T look on her face and says they were going to the local strip club(that he knows I hate).Needless to say we argued most of the morning. He said he thought it would be easier to lie to me than fighting if I knew where he was going.W/o going into details this is not the first time.
15 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoHigh white blood count, female?
I had my blood tested several times with my PCP since November 2007. I also had bronchitis 3 times since then. The white blood count was always high (first in the 12's, now it is 14.2). He is referring me to a hemotoligist (blood doctor). I just want to know what could be causing it, besides leukemia, because that was the first word out of his mouth and I am scared now.
3 AnswersOther - General Health Care1 decade agoCan someome please explain to me how the rhythym method works for birth control?
I am an adult, not a child looking for birth control. I am married with 2 kids and we do still want more kids. I just do not want to take birth control anymore because of all of the side effects I have experienced for so long. I think it would be nice to finally be able to do something else besides take a pill everyday. Thanks!
5 AnswersTrying to Conceive1 decade agoWhat am I doing wrong?
I do not ask alot of my husband. He is a cop and works 12hour shifts,so is off several days a week.I sometimes leave a short list of things for him to do...things I cannot do or find hard to do.I do not ask him to cook or clean or do much with the kids...I do all that and work full time. When he does do what I ask he acts like it is too difficult and that I am asking too much.Like today my list was: 1.hang Christmas lights outside 2.wash clothes (we just got home from a trip and had a ton that I cannot catch up on) and 3.figure out why phone does not work.I just called him (2:30pm and he has not done anything)I think since we are paying for our phone, it should be working and he did not even try and figure it out yet.He also complains when I ask him to do something with the kids, like help the older one with homework, or watch the baby while I bathe, etc.He drinks alot too.He thinks he has to have a case of beer every day he is off, and then some. Please give me advice on what to do.
9 AnswersMarriage & Divorce1 decade agoTake a guess at when I will go into labor!?
This is my second child. My original due date (according to my LMP) is Aug 28. The ultrasound says my due date is Aug 14, due to the size of the baby.
I went to the hospital on Monday July 23 with low back pain which I thought may be labor. Everything checked out fine but they sent me home on bedrest.
I had a doctor appointment on Wednesday July 25 and I am dilated 1cm. and the doctor sent me home on continued bedrest through the weekend. He was concerned I would go into labor while he was out of town this past weekend.
Well I made it through the weekend and am back at work. But, I am still having the low back pain off and on.
My next doctor appointment is Wednesday Aug 1.
When do you think I will go into labor?

4 AnswersMovies1 decade agoEtiquette on baby shower invites?
Would it be horrible of me to not invite the women I work with? I work in a very small office with 3 attorneys and 4 secretaries. I won't go into detail on why I am questioning inviting them. But, I don't want talking behind my back if they aren't invited.
8 AnswersEtiquette1 decade agoWhat should I get my sister for her graduation/18th birthday present?
Her graduation is tomorrow and her birthday is not until June 15. I sent her a card for graduation, but with no money in it (I am seriously struggling this month). Anyway, what is something really cool to get her that I could give her in a couple of weeks as a graduation/18th birthday gift?
8 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoSpoiled dog with a new baby on the way.....?
My husband, daughter and I have a cocker spaniel named Elvis, who will be 2 this August. He is spoiled rotten, and has been since we bought him,but is also a very good, loving dog.We have a new baby due in August and Elvis has been acting up more and more as my pregnancy progresses. He has become more excitable and more possessive with me. If someone comes to visit, he will not leave them alone. If I am resting on the sofa or even in bed, he lays next to me with his head on my belly. He gets very jealous when my husband or daughter hug or kiss me,and sometimes growls when they get too close to me.I know it is my fault for spoiling him, but does my pregnancy have anything to do with him getting overprotective and jealous? And do you think it will get worse when the baby comes? I love him and cannot imagine getting rid of him, but the new baby is more important of course.I am worried that he will be mean or jealous of the baby.Any tips or advice would be appreciated.
3 AnswersParenting1 decade agoAnyone have experience with Placenta Previa?
My doctor told me yesterday that my ultrasound from April 11 showed I had a marginal Placenta Previa. He said sometimes they correct themselves, otherwise I would have to have a C-Section. I am scared to death of C-Sections. I read up on Webmd.com about Placenta Previa and all it did was scare me more because of the likliehood of bleeding, C-Section, misscarriage, hysterectomy, etc. Please let me know your experience and please do not respond if you have not experienced it personally or know of someone who did. Thanks.

15 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoI need help cleaning my garden tub...?
I have a huge garden tub that I rarely use or clean, but since I have been using it lately, its time for a cleaning. It has a ring around it and I am not sure what would be the best thing to clean it with. It is hard to clean on a normal day, but I am pregnant now, so it is ever harder to get in there and scrub. What is the best and quickest cleaner or chemical to use?
5 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agohas anyone tried seabands for morning sickness?
Seabands are those little sweatbands with the little knob on them that you are supposed to wear while traveling if you get seasick or motionsickness.I read in several places they are also good for morning sickness.I started wearing them yesterday and it was the first time I felt human since I found out I was pregnant on Christmas Day.I put them on this morning before AI got out of bed and feel fine again. My only concern is that they are kind of tight and the little knob is leaving an indention on my wrists. Is that supposed to happen? It says they only come in one size.Am I wearing them to high?
9 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agodid you know eating cinnamon will level out your blood sugar level?
and in turn....ease morning sickness! I just found this out from a co-worker who read it in a magazine recently. This is why with my first pregnancy the only thing that stopped my morning sickness was brown sugar and cinnamon Pop Tarts (eww). So now I am pregnant again and trying to figure out why I am craving Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, cinnamon toast, and cinnamon graham crackers! Just a thought to all my pregnant yahoo answer friends!
6 AnswersOther - Pregnancy & Parenting1 decade agoMouse in my house!?
I was just sitting down at the dinner table when I saw something moving in the light fixture in my kitchen (it is one of those long box flourescent lights). It was a mouse or rat, very small. It quickly crawled back out though, I guess through the hole where the fixture connects to the ceiling. Anyway, please give me suggestions on what to do to get rid of it (I am not against animal cruelty in this case lol). I keep a VERY clean house, all of our food is kept picked up, and it is a very new house (just built in January) so I don't understand how or why it is in my house. Hopefully it is only in the attic, but I am scared it will get into the actual house. Tell me how to get rid of it and what to look for to find out where it got in at.
