Doing a report on the Galapagos and i've reached the part about the finches and natural selection and have come across two different statements regarding why the finches first evolved

1. the beaks changed because their was a too much competition for seeds/food

2. they adapted according to the food that was available on the part of the island they were on.

i know that they have a bunch of odd species, something about charles darwin, and that the island played a role in the discovery of evolution and natural selection. but i'm not sure how all of these ideas really connect.

we have to write an essay in English regarding these topics in relation to the wonderful novel to kill a mockingbird. the problem is that i don't completely get the difference between the 3 words. i asked my teach and he said prejudice is prejudice against race only. discrimination is being judgemental against everything (race, religion, male, female, poor, rich). and racism is hatred towards a race (extreme prejudice). i went on the internet and looked up some definitions and i got the same thign for racism (prejudice towards a ceratain race) and discrimination, but for prejudice i got that it is prejudging a person, but not on just race. if this is true then what is the difference between prejudice and discrimination. confused so please help.

so me and my friends are going to the movies on the 18th to see breaking dawn. the movie starts at 7:30 and i was wondering how early we needed to get there. i was thinking about an hour so we could get popcorn, drinks, candy, and stand in line. do you think this is enough time. it is opening day, not opening night though.

i also plan on buying tickets online. a week in advanced. do you think that's good enough.

i know they're not actual parts of a chromosome but i couldn't think of another way to word it.

what is the difference between a tetrad and a homogolous pair.

i can't seem to see the differece. a tetrad is 4 chromosomes, 2 homologous chromosomes.

then what is a homologous pair?

or are there 2 homologous chromosomes in a tetrad?

i have to draw some amino acids but when i go to look up a list the base part of the amino acid is different. when i am show an image of just the base and R represented as the variable part I get a Carbon in the center and going to the right another carbon covalently attached the a double covalent branching out from the 2nd carbon and OH also branching out of the 2nd carbon. when i look up a list of amino acids the base has a COO- on the right and H3N+ coming out of the other side of the main carbon even though in the picture of the base of an amino acid going to the left its N and the 2 seperate H branching out of the N. are these the same things? if you don't understand exactly what im getting at look up a picture of a list of amino acid images and then the base of one. the links are below.

i have looked just about everywhere and just about no one knows what it is, but everyone wants to know. i read something about it being by the cure -lullaby. i listened to the song, but no resemblance whatsoever. i also just learned there is a piano version which was played when casey was looking at the stars, both times, in the first episode. i have a feeling though that it is going to contribute to the plot of the show somehow b/c the grandma in the first episode said that casey's mom hummed the tune too. so thanks for all answers. ;)

My bio book says that an organelle is located between the cell membrane and nucleus, so nucleus doesn't count, right? According to my bio teacher and book it doesn't, even though they list nucleus as an organelle in the book and on the internet. confused...

I remember watching winx club when i was little and now they say they're premiering it on Nick. I watched it and i'm not really sure what happened. They changed their voices, clothes, music, and i think they cut out some parts b/c i was comparing it with the old ones on Youtube. There's also some annoying narration now. What happened, are they really that desperate to get something new going on Nick.

I just bought a new macbook pro and i went to microsoft website and bought microsoft office for mac. i put my credit card number in and everything and then purchased it over the website. the website then let me download it but a bit before it was halfway done it just stopped. it stayed at the same place, with no progress being made except for the time remaining number increasing for about an hour. after an hour of nothing i went to my email and found the email microsoft sent me with my recipe and clicked on the link that let me download it again. this time it got further but stopped again. the time remaining continues to grow but no progress is being made. I also bought some type of backup disk so i'm hoping that'll work. has anyone had this problem and how do i fix it. it went from 3 hours to about 9 hours now! help

I'm getting some shots soon and am very nervous. i haven't gotten a shot since like first grade so i don't remember anything except for crying alot, seeing the needle go into my arm, and the blue bandade shaped like a crayon i got after. i'm in going into high school so by california's new law i have to get the whooping cough shot, along with all the other shots i've gotten out of these past years. i'm terrified. not so worried about what it feels like after, just the stupid needle going right through your flesh and into your arm.

i've just began to read all of the Harry Potter books and now really want to own all of the movies.

I've seen most of them except half blood prince and deathly hallows. i was wondering if the earlier one like the first and second one and i guess all of them were still available and if they had special features and behind the scenes stuff and if the older HP movies with this stuff were available and where and how much.

NOw as of WEDNESDAY MARCH 23 titan isn't on. nor the next week or the following wednesday.
