  • Counterfeit Money?

I'm selling my car and the buyer is paying me in cash. If I go with the buyer to the bank and immediately deposit it, can the bank verify if the bills are counterfeit? Second, if by some miracle a teller accepts them and they later determine the bills are fake, are they able to claw the money back?

    Thanks

  • Car Accident Damage?

I was in a car accident a few months ago and my insurance company is insisting that some of the damage wasn't caused by the accident. What happened was I slammed the drivers side of the car into the median to avoid a car that spun out. The cosmetic damage was a hole in the drivers side of the bumper from where I hit the median and damage (no other damage on the drivers side) on the passengers side from where I hit the car.

There is rear internal damage to my car however. Basically, if I drive above 45mph, my whole car vibrates wildly.

How can I explain to my insurance company that rear damage is possible in this situation? I went up the side of the median and ended up right against it.

    Thank you!

  • How to ask for a raise?

I work for a sales company here in BC and our staff is seeking a raise. Minimum wage was recently raised from $8.25 to $9.50 (And in May 2012 to $10.25) while my coworker and I are pulling in $10/hr plus commission. After commission we average $13-$19/hr. How can we ask our manager for a raise proportional to increase in minimum wage?

For those of you that don't live in Vancouver, this is a very expensive city so this request is not because we're being greedy, but because our current pay barely covers groceries, rent, hydro, and the once a month night out.

  • Gym Contract Questions?

A few questions about my gym contract. If you know just one of these answers, please respond so I can gather as much information in order to get out of my contract.

    1. If this contract was signed in Canada (I signed up with an American ID), can the gym access my US credit information?

2.If the space for "I understand this agreement cannot be cancelled for a period of____payments..." is blank, is cancellation clause void?

    3. If the gym did not sign the "Authorized Signature" area, is the contract void?

    Thanks for your help!

  • Legs getting shorter...?

This is a bit of an odd question, but is it possible for one's legs to get shorter? I have Two pairs of jeans that I haven't worn in 2 years (I finally lost my "Freshman 15") that used to be the perfect length. When I tried them on today, they are too long... I haven't shrunk, I actually got slightly taller. So is this possible? Or are gnomes wreaking havoc In my wardrobe?

  • Canadian Tax and Duties?

I am a US citizen studying in Canada. Occasionally I ship small things to a PO box I have in the US since shipping is a lot less and that way I don't have to worry about customs. Since I am not technically a Canadian citizen/resident, If I go from Canada to the USA for an hour to pick up a package, am I subjected to the customs allowances of a Canadian resident (which is nothing for less than 24 hours) or the customs allowances of a temporary resident (if so, what's the allowance)? Thanks

  • Why is it not macho for guys to sit when they pee?

More of a food for thought question, but why is it that people think you're not masculine if you sit while you pee? I'm a young, heterosexual (no, I did not misspell homosexual) guy and I really don't like standing up when I use the bathroom. A lot of people give me crap for it and I don't understand why our society thinks guys who sit down when they pee are gay or feminine. I don't like my junk hanging out in the open, I like the privacy of a stall, and I like being comfortable when I use the commode. What do you think about this?

  • Extend Canadian Work Visa?

Long story short (too late) I need to extend my work visa that expires at the beginning of September. I just went to Canada CBP and they said that it's too early to extend my work visa... I'm a bit confused since two weeks I don't think is early. I have all the right paperwork, but has anyone heard of the window one can extend a Canadian work visa? Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

  • Keyhole Door Lock Change?

I have an older style, key hole, iron key type door to my room. My landlord won't let me change the lock, install a deadbolt in the door, or drill. Is there a cheap way I can install a lock that is easily changeable and causes little to no damage to the door. At least damage that is easily covered up... Thanks!

  • How do I get my roommate to NOT use my bed?

Long story short, I am going away for a few months. I have been looking for a subletter but have not had much success. A few of my roommate's friends have expressed interest, but have been dragging their feet to actually give me a yes or no answer. I have a feeling that he is just going to let them use my room rent free. I don't accept that. How can I rig my room to make it unliveable to make sure that he is not letting out my room? Our rooms don't have locks and my landlord won't let me install one. Thanks!

  • Sleep Apnea Symptoms without having Sleep Apnea?

In a nutshell, I have all the symptoms of Sleep Apnea: Daytime fatigue, memory issues, snoring, poor concentration, etc. but I just had a sleep study done and I don't have sleep apnea. Can anyone offer an explanation since my GP wants to start me on anti-depressants without exploring other options, and I cannot get a second opinion since I have to wait another 2 months for a different doctor. Long live Canadian health care......

  • How to soundproof a bathroom?

I just rented an apartment and the bathroom door is rather flimsy so you can hear everything....which isn't really attractive to hear.... Is there an inexpensive way I can damped the sound so people don't hear me, or so I can't hear my roommates when they're giving tribute to the porcelain g-ds? The cheaper the better since we're all students. Thanks!

  • Is it possible to use 700kWh in 4 days?

I just got my electricity bill and apparently I used 700kWh in just 4 days alone! So I have a rather hefty bill. I live in a small three bedroom apartment that does not living room. We don't have air conditioning, we don't have a TV, we don't have laundry, and we don't have electric heating. We have passive heating and gas. I have to fight the electric company tomorrow so I'm trying to figure out how feasible is this feat since all my previous apartments included electricity. Thank you!

  • Call Forwarding Question?

I have a question about call forwarding. I have a complicated call forwarding network set up (so I have free US and Canada calling) where when someone calls number "X" it forwards to Y which forwards to my actual phone, Z. When this process happens, does my cell phone carrier see that X is the number being called, or Y? My billing statements only show this as "Incoming Call" so I can't figure out which number, X or Y, is being registered by my carrier. Thanks!

  • Always Hungry Teen at 19?

I know this question has been asked before but I think i'm a bit different since I am almost 19.

This past week I have been getting constantly hungry, not just feeling hungry but genuine hunger. ie: Had breakfast at 8:30 and stomach was growling at 10:30. To give you an idea today I had a bowl of cereal (breakfast), turkey and cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomato (lunch), Jimmy John's beach sandwich with a leg of chicken and shrimp salad followed by a slice of berry pie (dinner). And now 3 hours later I am eyeing the fridge. I drink plenty of water, at least a litre a day.

Any reasons why this is happening? Thanks!

  • Import car to Canada?

I plan on buying a new car and importing it to Canada. Because I want to buy a VW, it is subject to 6.1% tax since it is not made in North America. If my Parents were to buy the car for me, then "sell" it to me officially for, let's say, $500, would the Government tax me on the market price of the vehicle, or the purchase price?

  • Another Science Question Please!?

[ For the purposes of this question, we simplify the size distribution of lunar impactors to a roughly-equivalent set of impacting asteroids all of which have diameters of 1 km.]

In the current Solar System, on average, an impactor 1 km in diameter strikes the Moon once every 1 million years producing craters with diameters of 10 km. What is the shortest amount of time required for the Moon’s surface to be fully covered (or saturated) with craters assuming craters never overlap? Given that the highland areas of the Moon are completely covered in craters, what does this tell you about the rate of impacts throughout history?
