Would the German squad be better if Ballack wasn't injured?
When the German captain Michael Ballack was injured, many German fans were devastated. Yet so far, Germany has had a fantastic run at this World Cup and has been one of many of the surprises in South Africa.
So would this young squad really be better if they had Ballack? Is Khedira a worthy replacement who might eventually surpass his predecessor? Has Lahm's leadership changed the tactics of the team? Might this team benefit from an additional experienced and admired icon, or is the raw talent of the German youth all they need to shine?
6 AnswersFIFA World Cup (TM)1 decade agoDon't you hate it when...?
People use the Mercedes-Benz logo when they obviously mean to use the Peace Sign? I could ignore it if it only happened once or twice, but I have repeatedly seen people make this error. Isn't it pitiful that the goal of peace and an united humanity is being confused for a logo of a business? Shouldn't people know better?
9 AnswersOther - Cultures & Groups1 decade ago"So what? We didn't invent corruption"?
I was listening to NPR yesterday, and they were saying how a Saudi representative or someone like that said that while admititng that the Saudi Arabian government was corrupt. If you can find me the name of who said it I'd be extremely appreciative. It's a great line and I want to quote his correctly and with respect.
1 AnswerCurrent Events1 decade agoWhat does marriage mean to you?
This is probably a common question, but think about it. Not only do the homosexual rights issues bring this topic back into importance, but it is an important question to know your own answer to. Whether you're married, engaged, dating, single, divorced, widowed or at any other point in your life, your opinion helps make up what the general meaning of marriage is to us as a people.
It doesn't matter what your opinion is, your are always entitled to it, I am merely looking for a broad range of answers, some I'll agree with some I won't. Just back up your opinion with details and if you want, life experiences.
Thanks in advance for quenching my curiousity.
18 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoQuestion about Israel?
Now, don't call me a terrorist, or an extremist or an anti-semite here, but what kind of logical reasoning possibiliy went into Israel?
The Holocaust happened in WWII. A really sad event in human history, I definately agree. A large Jewish population wanted to go somewhere where something like this could never happen again. A FINE idea! This is what I don't understand. They kick off people who have a history of not liking them off a piece of land, only to eventually be SURROUNDED by other people who not only haven't been their friends in the past, but are allies with the people they threw out. They are now surrounded by people who hate them and want revenge. How does that put them in a situation where an event like the Holocaust, fueled by racism and prejudice, will never happen again?
If you ask me, the only thing keeping Israel as alive and well as it is is infighting between Islamic sects in the Middle East. If their enemies united against them, things would be painful

11 AnswersPolitics1 decade agoDoes Pope Benedict scare anyone else?
No offense meant. I liked John Paul, and I really don't care about one's religious affiliation as long as they are kind, caring and open minded, but this new pope is just scaring the hell out of me! From all the comments he ends up making and such, he seems determined to be the cause of WWIII.

5 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoPeace and Religion?
After looking at a handful of the most popular religions in today's world, they all contain similar concepts. Life is sacrad. Every person is important. Killing a person is wrong. Hate is ignorant, a sin, evil, whatever. So forth and so forth.
If so many religions SAY this, why do veyr few people follow this mandate. I don't think i've seen any religious text that justifies collateral damage, and none that justifies mass killing of people.
No matter what religion you belong to, this applies. Some religions more than others, but all the same, it applies. Religious war and hate and conflict spreads like wildfire, but by doing so, you are defyign your own religion.
Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists and all other religions, you teach peace, love, understanding and joy, then why do you not follow such an example.
I am tired of all the people who have been killed in the name of religion, why can't we stop it here, forever?
12 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoHow can the U.S. use Saddam's killing of all those Kurds when...?
How can the U.S. claim their removal of Saddam justice because of his mass killing of Kurds a little less than two decades ago when the United States supported Saddam's coming into power, didn't do anything aobut it while it was happening and only acts on it when they have something to gain?

4 AnswersYahoo Answers1 decade agoCan we just create one non-religious holiday for the holiday season?
As a boreder line Buddhist/Athiest I don't really have a holiday to celebrate this time of year, but still like the idea of giving, caring and loving. Can we just create a holiday around here that everyoen can celebrate that doesn't mean anything religiously. We can still celebrate Christmas or any other holiday that has its religious connections, but could we just link the religous parts of those holidays with them, liek celebrating the birth of Christ, or celebrating the eight days of light without the materialistic and modern presnet giving, tree lighting, etc, then join together as a whole to celebrate our love for each other?
26 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoQuestion from a young poet?
I set my goal of poems to reach before even looking to get published at 500.
It looks like I will hit that mark before the end of the year.
However, I'm not sure if I should get published. Friends and acquantinces all say that I am an amazing poet (I will put a sample poem in additional information soon) but I am really not sure at this point.
I write poetry to express myself and I'm not sure if I want the expression part to possibly be tainted by getting published.
I am very open to criticism and not too clingy to having every word in a poem stay the same. I am not afraid of the editing process.
Any advice on getting published along with whether or not I should try to get published is fully welcome.
Also, should I send all 500 (Not expecting them to all get in, but to give the publisher choices, expectign about 100 to be in the book) or should I just try to find my best work (which is not an easy thing to do)!
Thanks in advance.
8 AnswersBooks & Authors1 decade agoIsn't the U.S. and all of its wars supposed to promote peace? Then why come...?
Looking at Yahoo news, I see that a woman in Colorado is being given trouble for merely having out a wreath that has a peace sign in it. They are calling it an anti-Iraq War protest! I thought that peace was supposed to be universal and good, so why the censorship? Is this just proving that the U.S. has become a bully of a superpower in the world and that the Iraq War isn't a mission for peace but for oil and power? Anybody who is pro-war at all should be pro-war for protecting peace and freedom, not death, violence and oppression, where has the U.S. that cared for the unallienable rights gone?
