I'm a jack of all trades; construction, food service, jailer/prison guard (done both), security guard, firefighter, electronics, scuba diving, storm chaser, Ham radio operator, ranch hand, "shade tree" mechanic, survivalist, trained infantryman, hunter, fisherman, father, rock hound, and arm-chair philosopher. Currently I'm working as a security guard at a government facility.

  • Transmission? Loud crunch and now it doens't want to go.?

Today I had a few problems with my 93 bronco (302). When I would come to a complete stop, there would be a noise and feel of something heavy sliding forward and then a crunch. It would even do this at a slow stop unless I crept to a stop. After driving to work I got into the parkinglot and now it's acting like I have it in drive rather than OD and will sorta jake-brake even at 5 miles an hour. What is the cause and remedy. I asked a couple of "handy men" and they didn't have an answer. I know that it could be driving like this due to low fluid, but what about that heavy object that keeps sliding forward? Please help!!

  • Gun control and the 2008 elections?

Which presidential hopefuls are pro gun control and which are against? I've been trying to find out by reading the papers and checking their websites, but most of them seem to be keeping quiet about their stand on the issue. This will be a major factor in who I vote for, so if you could clarify please it would be appreciated.

  • What would happen if there were no more deserts?

I'm curious as to what everyone's ideas would be. Scientifically the deserts are an important ecosystem, so what do you think would happen if we turned them all into farmland? I am looking for doomsday ideas. This is a worst case scenario that I haven't come accress yet.

  • Why does this lump keep appearing in my neck?

I've got a lump on the lft side of my neck about level with the bottom of my ear and about two inches further back. (Lymph node?) It seems to swell to about the size of a marble and stay that size for days or weeks. I haven't noticed any health complaints associated with it, but some times is sore to the touch. It has swollen up again today and you can just lightly run a finger across the surface of the skin and feel it sticking out. Not too worried about it, but curious as to what it is and why it does this.

  • Reference to "Welcome to the Black Parade"?

Ok I've been racking my brain for weeks trying to figure out when/where I've heard the term black parade from in my past. When I first heard the song a few weeks ago, I remembered having heard the term once before and can't remember where. It seems like it was in school several years ago either during a history lesson in high school or in something by Shakespeare. If anyone else can remember having heard a reference to "black parade" long before the song please let me know as it's driving me crazy!!!

  • Driver/passengers horizontal in vehicle?

I was wondering whether it would be better to design a vehicle where occupants are secured horizontally rather than vertically. One immediate upside to this configuration would be the decreased height of the vehicle and thus reducing the wind resistance and hopefully increasing fuel economy. As far as securing the occupants one could use restraints or maybe even a protective inflatable membrane like a reverse air matress. The vehicle could have a stronger frame with less materials needed due to a decrease in surface area needed. My question is how would a sudden verticle impact on the human body compare in this configuration to the more traditional horizontal impact? Would there really be that much physical difference from where the impact occurred and would it be enough of a difference to disallow this kind of setup?

  • Looking for a good Pagan shop?

I live in Greenville, Tx and goto Dallas fairly often. The Problem is I don't know where any good shops are to get supplies for ritual use. I am a solitary practicioner and don't know anyone in this area that practices. Any help would be greatly appreiciated as every time I track down a shop in DFW it's closed for the day or shut down alltogether.

  • How to separate gold flour from very fine sand and dirt?

I would like to know how to separate gold flour from a bunch of sand and dirt. I would rather not do this chemically as that can easily lead to spills and possible heath problems. I've had it assayed and it is a good purcentage gold, but I'm too new to prospecting to do this properly (first time actually) anyhow any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • D@#% yahoo browser keeps freezing.?

My yahoo browser keeps freezing when ever I open a link. I can't use the self support provided with internet service; it keeps telling me to try later and it can't be loaded right now. I have cleared out all cookies and temp files already. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled yahoo browser once last week and really don't feel like having to wait the half hour it takes to redo it all. Any suggestions?
