  • Are others in Orange County having trouble tuning in to KTTV since the DTV switch?

I bought the DTV converter box and a DTV-specific antenna and am able to tune in to all other DTV channels listed in my area. I retuned my converter box on June 14, because I am aware that some stations changed their DTV broadcasting channels on June 12. Yet, no matter how I position my antenna, it won't come in.

Are others in the Orange County, CA, area having similar problems? Any idea what the cause might be?

  • How do I equip a PC to communicate with a wireless router?

We'd like to put a desktop PC in a room in our house that has no phone line. We've got a wireless router that the laptop can talk to, but we'd like to equip the PC to talk to the router as well. (Currently, the PC can talk to the router by cable only.) Is there a device we can hook up to the PC to enable it to talk to the router? What would such a device be called?

  • Today my AT&T account is missing its usenet binary groups. Anyone know if they've stopped carrying those?

I've had no problem accessing the binary usenet groups up until today. I contacted AT&T's online customer support, but the girl just told me she had no info on the Usenet groups. Anyone else run into this, or does anyone know what's going on?

  • How do I un-mute audio on my laptop?

I have an Acer Extensa 4420-5237 with Windows Vista and a Realtek soundcard. I can't hear the sound going into the line-in or microphone jacks, even though the volume control indicates that neither of these jacks are muted. I can record sound from these devices and play back the recording with no problem. However, I'd like to be able to listen as I record.

  • How do I keep windows from automatically switching?

When ever a program has any kind of update (such as, an Internet page finishes loading an object, or MS Word finishes opening a file), Windows XP automatically switches to that program. I'd prefer to turn this function off, and just switch back at my leisure, especially since Web pages often have numerous objects to load. Anyone know how to do this?

  • How do I install a phone jack if I have 12 wires inside the wall instead of the usual 4?

I recently discovered that a phone jack in my house was never actually hooked up to anything. It looks like a simple job to hook up a jack if one has the standard 4 wires. Unfortunately, I have 12, all different colors. I can't figure out which to use. I looked at another jack in the house and it had two grey wires with white stripes connected to the jack's red wire and two white with grey connected to the jack's green. The wall where I'm trying to hook up the jack has only one grey with white and only one white with grey. I'm just puzzled. Any informed suggestions would be welcome. Thanks!
