  • Frequent Kidney infections/dizzines/supper GI pain?

I am a 23 yr old woman who has had 5 kidney infections in the past 8 months. Each is accompanied by severe upper abdominal pain (right under diaphram), migraines, and severe dizziness and fainting. I was diagnosed with chronic gastritis, and no doctor has tested kidney function any further. What could be the underlying cause (s) that I should research and talk about with my doctors?

(I am sexually active with one completely monogamous partner, and I urinate after sex, everytime, and have only had a handful of partners in my life)

  • Kidney infection and dizziness?

I went to the ER on Saturday night because I was so dizzy I fainted a couple times (that was my only symptom). They "diagnosed" me with a kidney infection (like a UTI), and sent me home with antibiotics. I am still dizzy and NO info I found says kidney infections lead to dizziness. I went back to a second opinion from my PCP, and he didn't have any ideas what else it might be (althought i persuaded him to test my thyroid). Any suggestions?

I have chronic stomach problems (Gastritis, I'm on Aciphex), eat well, drink a ton of water (4 20oz bottles a day) and do not drink any alcohol.

  • Human parasite and stool sample?

My dr. wants a stool sample to be sure I don't have a stomach parasite (massive stomach problems). What would eggs look like? I may be paranoid, but I think I saw them. Does anyone have experience or know what they would look like?

  • Does green tea have caffiene?

I have heard green tea is good for you with antioxidants, etc, and that it is better than coffee. I know regular (black, Lipton for example) tea has caffiene, but does Green tea? Could this possibly vary from brand to brand?

Also, anyone have good luck with weight loss using green tea?

  • Honeymoon Question...Who pays?

I heave heard the honeymoon is traditionally the parent's "wedding gift", but we are having such a lavish wedding that my parents are paying for, I hate them to buy the honeymoon travel, maybe it is traditionally the groom's parents' gift? Or we could easily afford it ourselves, but I'd hate to book it and hurt one set of parent's feelings!

I know nothing is set in stone, I am speaking tradtionally.

  • Engagement announcements?

My family is very formal and "by-the-book," and want us to have engagement announcements right away (cards AND newspaper announcement). Problem is, Ms. Manners and Theknot.com say you shouldn't send them until you have the date picked out. What do you think about sending them saying something similar to: "Wedding is planned for summer 2007." Is that too vague? Also, we're both from the midwest and now live in CA and have no idea where we will host everything. Are these things we need to know before sending announcements? Keep in mind we are more than a year away!!!

  • Painting house...help with Primer!!!?

Se we are painting our house this weekend. In the kitchen, someone before us had used shiny latex paint (very high gloss). A friend told us we'd have to sand it down first to get rid of the shine, then primer that wall because otherwise both paint and primer will peel off. The guy at home depot said primer would suffice (didn't mention sanding). I don't want to be repainting in 3 months, what would last longer?

And if I have to sand it, whats the point of primer?

  • Painting house and dogs...?

We are painting 2 rooms of interior walls this weekend. We have a 2 year old Jack Russell (a.k.a. ball of energy). We expect the painting to last only an hour or 2, and then drying time. Should we board him for the day or just expect to keep a very close eye on him? We have an ungated yard, so leaving him outside is not currently an option. Any experiences?

  • Help dealing with my Fiance's past?

My Fiance is significantly older than me (I'm 23, he's 32), and he was married before. He has only talked about it a few times, and once when I got very mad that he couldn't open up about it, he said it is because he failed, and he shouldn't have done it (they were young, like 19), and it is an embarrassment to him and now realizes what love is (and he shed a few tears). I know all this to be true, but I want to know more, like when they got married and divorced, what went wrong, did they talk about kids, etc...Knowing how he feels about it, is it not my place to ask? I'm having a hard time dealing with it (never thought I'd be a second wife) and I feel that if i knew more, it wouldn't be so taboo and wouldn't bother me so much.

Should I ask more, or drop it?

  • Gastritis and Prilosec question!!!!!! Please HELP!?

I am 22 and female. After 2 months of random stomach problems (pain, nausea with no vomitting, etc.) I was recently (2 weeks ago) diagnosed with Gastritis via Upper GI endoscopy (results are still out if it is caused by H. Pylori bacteria). I was put on Prilosec (20 mg) daily. I have completed 2 weeks of it already, and I DON'T FEEL BETTER. I still have "attacks" of the gnawing stomach pain that keep me laid up for a day or so. Has anyone had a similar experience? Any advice? Should it be taking this long?

And before you suggest it, I have already changed my diet to cut out all caffeine, coffee, tea, soda, fatty or fried foods, sugary foods, and acidic (tomatoes, etc) foods. And I get a good amount of exercise.

Also, I am open to the fact it might be stress-induced, what do you do for that (and don't say cheap breathing techniques, I need something better than that.)

    THANKS!

And for the 100th time, I am POSITIVE I'm not pregnant.

  • Pre construction pricing and mortgage question!?

Here in Orange County, CA we have an opportunity to buy an ocean front condo at 3/4 market price because they are just breaking ground. If we buy, we would make mortgage payments right away, even though it's not built, correct? They are also having city council and environmental lobbyist issues. Is there mortgage protection for those kinds of things (ie they never fulfill construction or it is a sizeable delay), or is it just a gamble you take?

  • What is important to ask/tell my gastroenterologist?

I am going to the gastroenterologist today for the first time. I have actually never been to ANY specialist before. Do I stick with this gastro problem when describing symptoms, general practice doctors visits for this illness, etc, or will he want to know all my history? Family history?

I know he will guide me in what info he wants, but I need to know if I need to be calling parents to find out what everyone has beforehand.

Also, will my referring general practice doctor have forwarded all my results or do I need to go get them to bring them to the specialist?

  • Stomach issues...HELP!?

So I have been waging war with my stomach for 1.5 months now. Every few days to a week I will have an EXTREME case of nausea that doesn't produce anything (no vomiting, no diarrhea). It is like an empty gnawing feeling in the upper portion of my abdomen, directly under the ribs with dizziness and temporary fever/chills. Food and passing a bowel do not help the pain. Each spell lasts 1-2 days. The doctor has checked for: Kidney function, liver function, ultra sound of my entire abdomen, ulcers, diverticulitis, and on and on...Can anyone think of ANYTHING I should suggest?

Also I already gave up caffiene, coffee, soda (real and diet) fatty foods and sugary foods.

  • Today is Maundy Thursday. What happened in the Bible to make it that?

I would assume it was the Last Supper and the betrayal in the garden. Is that it? What does "Maundy" mean?

  • Do I see a therapist or a psychologist, and how do I find one?

I think I have an anxiety disorder. I had the stomach flu for more than a month. Doctors ran every test conceivable, didn't find anything, and now suggest it went away but my constant worrying about it coming back is psychosomatically making it come back.

So to look into this anxiety disorder theory, do I see a therapist, a psychologist or what? And how do I start looking for one(doctors didn't have anyone to recommend)? Phone book?

  • Help!!! Dog ate a LOT of FIBER!?

Help! My dog at a Metamucil Fiber Wafer, which contains 25% of the fiber a PERSON needs in a day (6 grams). There is even a warning on the box that a person may choke if not taked with enough water. Is this much fiber going to be bad for my 15 pound Jack Russell? Does he need to go to the vet? HELP! He's not showing any signs of distress, but I'm worried!

  • Switching the time I take my pill?

I usually take my pill at 10pm. I am one week into this pack. I forgot 2 nights in a row and took them the next morning at 8am. This is more convinient for me, and want to switch. Obviously I will need a back up method for awhile since I missed 2 days, but can I just keep on this am schedule? I don't have to wait util a new pack starts?

    It's Ov-Con if that helps.

  • Socializing of dogs, HELP!!!!!!!!!!?

My 2 year old rescue Jack Russell Terrier is a people dog. He couldn't care less about any small or medium sized dogs, even at the dog park and dog beach. He'd rather sit with the people. Is this just his "personality" or should I be doing something to make him more social?

Also, at large dogs, he is a complete terror. Barking, showing teeth, trying to fight. Even when the big dogs walk away he will pursuit them. Is this normal, maybe making up for the fact he is so much smaller?

  • What movie review website do you like?

I usually look at the entertainment link on Yahoo! but the last few times I have seen something based on their review, I completely disagreed. What are some other websites I can check?
