i am a single parent, although my son's father has always been in the picture and helped raise him. my son and i have always been very close, more like best friends than anything else, though i knew when it was time to be a parent, as opposed to a friend. he has never given me a moment's trouble. no drugs, no smoking, only an occasional beer since turning 21. when he was 17 and at the age where boys are just getting into dating and girls, he became a st. jude patient, diagnosed with ewing sarcoma. at roughly the same time, his dad had two strokes, so my son and i went through the entire st. jude experience together, just the two of us. that just cemented an already close relationship. fast forward. st. jude saved my son and i will be eternally grateful. but my son was lagging behind the milestones and so was kind of a late bloomer. but he went to college, has a great job and now at the age of 24, has his first "real" girlfriend. so, what's the problem? well, i am. it's killing me. i feel like i've lost my best friend. i feel like someone has gutted me. i cry all the time. he is being so sweet to me through this, but he is firm in telling me that this girl is special and he wants to spend a lot of time with her. i understand that this is normal and it's how it's supposed to be. i know it's what people do. i KNOW that. but... how do i go on without all the time and fun things we did together? it feels like "breaking up the band." i'm lost. he does spend fridays with me and i appreciate that. but i miss him being a kid. i miss us being a team, though he says we still are. i am not a people person, don't want to meet anyone, i'm just lost. and i cry a lot. i know it's me with the problem and he is a terrific son. but knowing that doesn't stop the hurt. does anyone have any advice for me?

it's not that simple. here's what happened: the other day, i was telling a friend about a game i play on facebook. i tried to pull up the game on her computer, but she has an ancient computer and it wouldn't come up. i thought i could pull up my own account and show her on that since i already have the game up and running on my account. so i asked if it was okay to log her out and log into my own account and she said sure. i did so and when we were ready to go back to her account, i logged myself out and asked her what her email was to log her back in. she didn't know! we finally figured out what it might be, but then she didn't remember her password. i said that was okay, we could just request a new one by asking facebook to send a request to her email. the upshot of this is she doesn't clearly remember the email address nor her facebook password or her email password or the answer to her secret question to get into the email. i know what you're thinking, because i am thinking it too: how clueless do you have to be not to know any of that? but she just always stayed logged in, so she never needed to know it, so she forgot it. my question is: is there ANY way to get her back into her facebook account? not a new account, the existing one? i feel bad for logging her out in the first place, but i would never have done that if i'd known she wouldn't be able to get back in. help!!!

a month ago, i stood on a bed and changed a friend's lightbulb. later, that afternoon, i began to have severe pain in my right shoulder/bi-cep area. it got so bad that i ended up at urgent care. the doctor gave me a prescription for prednisone and tramadol, neither of which helped. still in pain, i a week later, i went to the emergency room. they did an ultra sound, an x ray and for some reason an ecocardiogram. they couldn't find anything. i was given a prescription for vicoden and ibuprophen. they didn't touch the pain. i iced the painful area and that would help a tiny bit, but only as long as the ice was on. a life long stomach sleeper, i can no longer do that, it makes my arm hurt even worse. can't sleep on my right side, that's my sore arm and something about laying on my left side pulls on the painful right arm. when i am able to sleep at all, i'ts on my back, practically sitting up. it still hurts. there is an indentation in the back of where my shoulder meets my arm about an inch long. that's where the pain seems to be originating. i don't know if this is relevant, but on feb 9, i had my right thyroid removed. can someone please help me?

about a week and a half ago, i hurt my upper right arm, where the bicep is. the pain was/is pretty bad. it began to spread into my shoulder and back of neck. i finally went to urgent care and the doctor said i probably had a pinched nerve. he gave me a prescription for prednesone and tramadol, the latter being for pain. i've taken the pills the way i am supposed to, used ice, heat, muscle rub, pain patches and i'm still in pain. the only time i have any relief is if i take two of the pain pills and that makes me severely nauseated and i end up throwing up. it's been two weeks, i'm almost out of the pills that aren't working anyway and i am still in pain. i need someone with medical training or personal experience to tell me what to do. how long will this last? the only thing i can think of as to how i did it is carrying heavy bags of groceries, which i am accustomed to. can someone please help?

my windshield wiper on the driver's side was not clearing the rain from the windshield at all, so i bought a new one and the man who owned the auto parts store put it on, so i know it was put on correctly. the problem is that the new windshield wiper is not clearing rain from the windshield either. so what is up with this? there's no oil on the screen or any imperfections. could it be something out of alignment or... what?

the first thing i don't like about the emmys is that they used to be strictly for network shows. for cable shows there was a separate awards show called the cable ace awards. but like a pushy bully, cable infiltrated the emmys. the second thing i don't like is that highly rated shows like csi and the mentalist are ignored. the shows that win are crap no one watches and that get cancelled, for the most part. the arguements i've heard are stupid. things like "well, by that logic, mcdonald's should be a five star restaurant, since more people eat there than anywhere else." that's an idiotic arguement. i think that the most popular shows with viewers should win the emmys. even if i don't like them, i would consider that fair. and it did used to be like this, before cable horned in. so my question: if no one watches your show, what is the point of an emmy?

all my life i've heard how wonderful this movie is. i'm 53 and have never seen it. i watched for the first time last night and didn't care for it. i found it to be hokey, cheesy, and i didn't like the scene where his boss smacked him when he was a child, nor did i care for the grown up character asking his wife in front of the kids, "why did we have to have all these kids." how many others don't like this movie that everyone seems to love?

here's the routine. i'll wake up and feel okay, but as the day goes on, it feels like i'm coming down with something. i'll just plain feel crappy. no energy, headache, sometimes a little congestion, achy, in other words the way you feel right before you come down the flu. no fever so far, just feel horrible. the next day, i'll feel fine, except for some residual tiredness and maybe a little nausea. next day or the next, it starts all over again with the same cycle. has anyone experienced this? can someone tell me what's going on? i won't have health insurance till next year, which is why i haven't seen a doctor. this has been going on now for the better part of a year.

i want to relocate to canada in the next ten years. i want to ask canadians: how much for a decent, safe apartment? could i rent a safe apartment for 500 dollars a month? with utilities included? would i need a car? what part of canada would be best? is there special housing for the elderly? by that, i mean cheaper apartments that cater to the elderly only? thank you.

i never watched the original, but i love alex o'laughlin and still mourn the cancellation of "moonlight." i hope this show succeeds. if you watched it, did you like it? the new version, i mean.

someone gave me a best answer, and there was an option to add him to something so that when he asked a question, it would show up in my email. the problem is he asks roughly 40 questions a day. i need to remove him and i simply can't figure it out. help?

this is infuriating! i play farmville and not being able to get to your farm means that your crops could wither. this makes me ANGRY. is anyone else having this problem?

I am planning a trip to Ireland and Germany but the thought of driving a car there makes this middle age american woman more nervous than i am normally. i'd like to hear from other americans who have driven a car on a trip to europe. is it hard, is it confusing?

for instance, i'm 53. i wake up tomorrow exactly the way i was at 23, in the same circumstances but with the brain i have today and all the knowledge of having had a life and being 53. i'd only have been married two years at that point and i'd be 8 years away from having my son. i'd run to the mirror, not believe my eyes (you'd also wake up in the house you lived in at the time). what would be your initial reaction? what you think had happened? what would you do? would you try to get back to the present, would you try to tell people what had happened to you? descibe the scenario.

i have 44 neighbors. on one end, we have the people who never or hardly ever tend their farms at all. (i suspect them of having actual lives). on the other end, we have people who are on, like, the level one million, who have at least two of everything farmville has ever offered, and they move up levels frequently. i suspect these people of having no lives at all and able to sit in front of their computer all day. i'm in the middle. my question: does anyone who plays farmville have good tips on how to level up faster? thank you.

in the extreme late 80's (1989) or the extreme early 90's i heard a very cool version of the Sesame Street theme song on the radio. it was sort of pop/rock with sort of a marching band sound and i could have sworn the deejay called it "electric sesame street." i heard it that once and never heard it again. i know this is a long shot, but is there anyone who knows what i could have heard and where to find/download the song?

don't get me wrong. i like ellen. i find her funny and just an all around cool person. however, an AI judge?! she is, to me, wholly unqualified. she isn't a singer like paula, a musician like randy, a song writer like kara or a producer like simon. she's a stand up comic, a talk show host and a former actor. none of those things in anyway qualify her to judge how someone can sing. am i alone in thinking that having her judge people singing is insane?

it is a girl singing the blue oyster cult song called "i'm burning for you." does anyone know who is singing the song in the commercial? i can't find any info on it.

in the morning, when i first start it, it jerks back and forth and acts like the engine may die. the engine has never actually died, but just makes that "in and out" noise like it might. if i shut the car off, wait a few seconds and then restart it, it's not as bad. after i shut it off and start it a third time, the jerking and uneveness in motor subsides. i should add the the jerking is not violent but it is definitely enough to make me think the engine is going to die. can someone with car knowledge help me with what's going on? this is only in the morning. the rest of the day it's fine, which means it only happens after the car has set for a substantial period of time.

i was on you tube watching a video of one of my favorites from the 70's, david essex from that time period and then another one from current. he was so gorgeous then and now, he just looks...old. i'm so depressed. does this happen to anyone else of a "certain age?" and by the way, i mean age 45+. by this i mean: do you get depressed when your favorites that you used to have a crush on look old?
