True of False.
1. For most communities diversity decreases from the poles to the tropics.
2. Scientists have yet to develop an index that addresses the role that interactions between the biological and physical components of the Earth System play in diversity.

2 AnswersPhysics1 decade agoPhysics Glancing Collisions??? 10 points!!!!!?
I tried doing it and I got 3 equations and then I got lost and confused. Please help me, please explain how to get to the correct answers and please also post the correct answers. I will give 10 points :). Thanks.
This is what I got.
For x-component
P(i) = p(f)
(m₁v₁)₀ + (m₂v₂)₀ = m₁v₁ + m₂v₂
m(4.8m/s) + 0 = mv₁ cosѲ + mv₂cosф
4.8m/s = v₁cos33.3° + v₂cosф
v₂cosф = 7.04m/s - v₁cos38.9°-------------->eqn. (1)
For the y-component:
0 = v₁sinѲ + v₂sinф
v₂sinф = -v₁sin38.9°---------->eqn. (2)
Recalling that sinф / cosф = tanф, divide (eqn2) by (eqn1):
Tan51.1 = -0.628v₁ / (4.8m/s – .78v₁)----------->eqn.(3)
The Question:
Two shuffleboard disks of equal mass, one orange and the other yellow, are involved in a perfectly elastic glancing collision. The yellow disk is initially at rest and is struck by the orange disk moving initially to the right at 4.80 m/s. After the collision, the orange disk moves in a direction that makes an angle of 38.9° with its initial direction. Meanwhile, the velocity vector of the yellow disk is perpendicular to the postcollision velocity vector of the orange disk. Determine the speed of each disk after the collision.

Each worker is able to deliver 135 W of power, and the pulley system is 75.0% efficient (so that 25.0% of the mechanical energy is lost due to friction in the pulley). Neglecting the mass of the pulley, find the time required to lift the piano from the street to the apartment.
