I have a Craftsman lawn mower with a 6.75 B&S engine hp that won't start. The local repair shop told me it's 95% caused by stale gasoline that causes buildup in the carb jets and they need to be cleaned. They want $75 to do this. Can anybody tell me how to clean the carb? Thanks!

It's an Amana. The door seals appear intact. I vaccuumed around the condenser. The internal thermostat is set at a moderate level. The inside of the house is about 70 degrees. It used to run much less frequently. It's a side by side with about 20 cu ft. Amana has advised me they'll charge for a repairman to come out, even if it's the condenser which is covered for 5 years.

My '97 Ford F-150 with 90K miles died. I tried to start it the other day and the engine made a horrendous noise. I towed it to a reputable repair shop who says a blown head gasket lead to a bent connecting rod. They quoted me $4400 to replace the engine. I bought the truck with from a private party a few years ago with 52,000 miles. I've never mistreated or neglected the truck in a way that would cause this problem. I've contacted Ford Motor Corporation by phone and by E-mail and they refuse to take responsibility. If Ford trucks are so "tough" as their commercials brag, how come it's already broken after such low mileage?

Anyone know what kind of legal recourse I might have?
