I think my adopted cat is pregnant...more inside?
I adopted a stray cat from craigslist about 2 months ago, when we got her she seemed overweight. She has continued to gain weight and is touchy when I try to feel her belly, her nipples are somewhat more pronounced but she is also extremely long haired which makes it difficult to tell. She seems lethargic today, is not eating much and has vomited some undigested food up. I know cats average a 63 day gestational period, but I am not completely convinced she is pregnant. She also has not gone into heat since we have had her. Wish I could afford to take her to the vet, but at the moment we have legal issues which are rapidly draining our bank account.
1 AnswerCats10 years ago!0 year old son, diagnosed Bipolar and ODD w/ADHD tendencies...?
My 10 yr old has had mental and behavior problems since he was very young (like 3). We have finally gotten him properly diagnosed with childhood onset bipolar and ODD w/ ADHD tendencies. He is currently on 250mg of Depakote, which he is really not showing any improvement with. He has been on this dosage for 3 months. My main question is has anyone had experience with this type of illness in a child and if so has Lithium worked for them? I want to change his meds to lithium, because it did wonders for me and I think he would benefit greatly. Thanks ahead for any info. Please if you can't post something relevant and helpful don't post at all. We have done therapy, behavior modification, parental classes, diet changes and he is in a special behavior classroom for special needs children.
2 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoWhere to turn when CPS does nothing?
I have a neighbor, directly across from my apartment ( I can hear everything that happens in her apartment), her children are gravely malnourished, neglected, abused and ignored. I am so frustrated because since she moved in last summer I have called cps 3 times myself, and the other neighbors around her have anywhere from 3-5 times as well. Her 5 yr old boy is the size of my 2 1/2 year old daughter, and my daughter speaks better. The 5 year old fell out of a 2nd story window about 3 weeks after they moved in (1st cps call) and the "mother" went down, nudged him with her foot and said you are fine, get up... umm excuse me WTF??? The 5 year old is so hungry he begs from the neighbors for food, the mother does not work, gets wic, food stamps, cash and housing help. There is no reason for these children to be deprived the food that my family is paying for, and then have to feel sorry for the children and give them more from my own fridge. CPS is doing nothing. They have come out, she has open cases because when you call all you have to do is give her name and they can pull her up. The final straw was last night when her naked 2 yr old daughter was running around the parking lot unattended and my husband almost hit her, I was irate at this point and went to yell at her and her excuse was I went to the bathroom and the kids snuck outside, well my husband waited with the girl for 10 minutes and my mom was here and went to walk her dog and witnessed both kids playing alone outside in the filthy water reservoir 15 minutes before my husband got home. Yeah but they just snuck out (for at least 25 minutes) while she went to the bathroom.... UGH! Anyway rant over, what can I do? Is there a way to go above CPS? Any help please, I am about to abduct these children and drop them off at an orphanage.
17 AnswersParenting1 decade agoWhy am I still depressed?
I take 1mg Xanax 3 times a day, 300mg Lithium 2/day and 20mg Paxil once a day. I still get bouts of depression and crying spells. Plus even minor everyday stress brings me to the point of breaking down. I have been on the Xanax and Paxil for 3 months and Paxil for 3 weeks now. Any ideas or advice?
8 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoIf you are bipolar, yet are taking paxil can you feel a brief period of grandiose?
I have been on Paxil for 3 months now, my dosage starting at 10mg, and going up every 3 weeks. I am on 40mg daily now. The problem is that for the first week or so after a dosage increase I am jubilant and carefree, happy, singing, etc. But after that initial burst I go into hyper depressed mode. Super emotional, overly sensitive and have suicidal thoughts frequently. I was told by one doctor that I was bipolar, and when given a psychological evaluation told that I was not bipolar, I had Borderline Personality Disorder aggravated by PTSD. I go to therapy for that, but I still suffer from moderate depression, and severe anxiety. Could I actually be bipolar? And the initial "happy pill" feeling be an indication that I truly am bipolar? I have an appointment tomorrow to discuss with my doctor, just looking for insight, or personal experience.
1 AnswerMental Health1 decade agoCan somebody with exp. give me some insight?
I have been on Paxil 30mg, and Xanax for depression and anxiety for about 3 months now. I feel better (not suicidal any longer) and have actually been happy a few times and able to enjoy normal activities. However, I am always tired no matter how many hours I sleep, be it 3, or 10 I feel the same. Groggy, fatigued and unmotivated to do anything. I have to drink large amounts of caffeine plus use the aid of energy supplement sprays/drinks. Now, I am physically healthy 26 year old, no health problems really besides a connective tissue disorder and the before mentioned depression/anxiety. Why have I gone from being a neat freak, active adult to a lazy, sluggish person who is constantly drained. No major life changes have occurred either, just the medicine.
5 AnswersMental Health1 decade agoIn pain, all over!?
Hi. Just a quick question, and yes I am going to the doctor tomorrow, but I wanted to have some input prior to seeing him. Last night I was straightening the house (nothing too physical, just picking up toys and what not) and I had been having a pain in my groin area, I think it is from a hernia that I had repaired 1.5 years ago. Since that was already tagging at me I didn't want to do too much so I sat down and rested. When I stood back up my entire abdomen and ribcage felt bruised and hurt badly. It almost felt like I did an intense abdomen workout, that same kind of burn. Now my groin area, abdomen and thighs and calves all have the same pain. It hurts to stand or sit or do anything. Also, I am not sick and I do not have a fever, just these weird all over muscle pains. I have not done a physical exercise routine in almost 2 years so I know that is not what it is either. What could it be? Could I have re-injured the hernia again, and if so would that cause the pain all over?
5 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoMy mom won't understand that I am an adult now..?
I recently found out my husband cheated on me, I have decided that through counseling and faith we can work through it and remain a family. I of course told my mom what had been going on and she told me to leave (which I understand), but if I tell her that we are staying together to work through it I know she will degrade me and make me feel like crud. I love my guy very much, and I know we can make it right, and I know he loves me. How do I get my mom to understand and accept my choices and realize I am an adult and she can't control me and judge me any longer. By the way my mom has always been like this, she is not a nice person and can be very difficult to be related to, and has always degraded me and belittled me. I also now know that my father cheated but my mom does not know. Do you think she would have a different attitude towards it if she did?
4 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoWhat should I do?
My neighbor above me is extremely obnoxious. She used to have wild parties until 4-5am and play music nonstop. Well we put an end to that with multiple threats to call the cops and many, many writtens notices to the landlord. My problem now is that she moved her girlfriend in, who happens to have a small child. I do not care when the kid plays (I have 3 of my own) I know they are loud, and don't understand the concept of walking. But they keep their kid up until at least 2 or 3 am and have him run laps around the apt, it bugs me as my kids are in bed by 8 or 9pm, and even the baby is asleep by 11 or so, if she isn't, she is at least quiet. What should I do, keep complaining (which seems to do little good) or ? Any suggestions? Also the gf is very rude to me when I try to ask her to be quiet, and I suspect they are keeping the kid up as to get him to sleep longer in the morning/afternoon. I really feel like shaking her at this point!

10 AnswersNewborn & Baby1 decade agoHas anyone else been through this? 7 year old diagnosed with ODD and IED.?
My 7 year old has always had a different way to him and for years we were told that he was ADD/ADHD, well he is not and he has been formally diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder with Intermitten Explosive Disorder. I have gotten over the initial feelings of guilt and denial that something could be wrong with my child, and I am doing my best to care for him and respect that he is wired differently, however I am struggling to find ways to discipline him and deal with him still, the stress is almost unsurmountable. Weekly counseling appointments, daily calls from the school, because the medicine isn't enough and they don't want to work with him they just want to up his dosage, little family support and 2 other young children in the home that do not understand why their brother is not being punished as often as they do. If anyone can help relate their experiences or just talk email me.
2 AnswersParenting1 decade agoBreastfeeding, tubal and periods stopped abruptly?
I had my daughter by c-section 3 months ago, also had a tubal ligation at the same time. I had the normal lochia flow, went to my PP check up and had regular periods for those 2 months. However my period was due the 5th or so of this month and has yet to appear, I have had all the symptoms of PMS and my normal bodily reactions to the onset of my cycle, but no flow. This is my 3rd child and I have nursed all of them and this is the first time that I have any delay in my flow, so I do not think it is connected to my breastfeeding, I may be wrong. I am asking here because I do not want to go to the doctor to be told to go on BC, which is why I decided to have a tubal....I hate BC. Any suggestions or ideas as to what could cause this?
