  • How best to help my friends find my tailgating location?

I'm hosting tailgating before a baseball game. I have the parking lot picked out but beyond that I am not sure where I'll be or even what spots will be available. I still want to make it easy for my friends to find me. Does anyone have a clever way for my friends to find my tailgating location?

  • What are the base running rules of thumb?

While watching baseball the announcers make it sound as though there are rules of thumb for certain situations. For example on a ball hit to the right side the runner on third scores. Is this true? If so is there a website with a list of them?

  • What is a good way to use the space under a wall-mount bathroom sink?

My apartment bathroom has a wall-mount sink. There is no cabinet underneath. In fact there is basically nothing underneath except pipes. I'd like to put something under there (perhaps a shelf set?) to make use of that space as storage for standard bathroom items. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  • How was Windows Firewall enabled?

I'm in a corporate environment. We have Windows Firewall disabled. However on some systems it has been re-enabled somehow without my knowledge. Our application had been working and then was broken by Windows Firewall, so I know it was disabled to start. I know that there is no domain policy to enable it. Is there a way to determine how Windows Firewall got re-enabled?

  • What is the best tool for creating and editing MSI installers?

I'm a beginner at this and I don't need my installers to do anything too complicated - mostly just create folders and copy files. A simple tool would be fine. It needs to be open source or otherwise free for commercial use.

  • Anyone know anything about Georgia Cruise Card violations?

I got some toll violations for having my card tied to a credit card that was revoked. That's been 5 or more years ago and I don't even own that car any more. I'd like to get another Cruise Card but obviously I don't want to get slapped with a bunch of fines. Does anyone know what are my chances of having to pay?

  • What is a good Wii video game...?

The problem is I keep beating my girlfriend at the default Wii games because I've been a video gamer all my life but she just started playing. I'm not very familiar with the catalog of Wii games. She needs a one that a non-gamer would like. Something that is cooperative rather that competitive would be good too.

  • For the Flash experts: what triggers the prompt to update the Flash player plugin?

Suddenly my users are being prompted to update their Flash plugin in Internet Explorer. I know there is a new version but these users only connect to one in-house proprietary application and nothing else on the web. Our 3rd party vendor updated our proprietary application, so maybe they made a change to trigger this? Does a SWF file include a version requirement? How can I check this in a specific file?

  • Why do people still believe in the "theory" of gravity?

This is clearly a faulty theory that will never be "proven." We see scientific evidence right in front of our faces that disprove gravity on a daily basis: balloons, feathers, corks. Some days I don't even feel like I'm being pushed down so much as the Earth is rising up to meet me. Now I'm going to prove I am right by jumping out of my window.

  • How can I secure my camera while canoeing?

I am going on a canoeing trip the weekend and I'd like to take some snapshots while on the water. I have a Pentax W10, which is waterproof so I'm not worried about it taking a splash. My concern is dropping it. I need some way to secure it to myself. I need it to be accessible yet out of the way while paddling. Of course I don't want it to get caught on anything especially if I should fall into the water, so it needs to be safe. The camera does have a wrist strap and a place to attach it (the manual calls it a "strap lug"). Any tips from experienced canoers/kayakers/rafters for keeping my camera safe would be greatly appreciated.

  • What controls which is monitor 1 and which is monitor 2?

My company distributes computers with dual displays. They have DVI Y-adapters. A small monitor is physically connected to the connector labeled "1" and a big monitor is always connected to "2". The small monitor is supposed to show a website and the big monitor is supposed to show a movie. However sometimes this is reversed. In this case you can look in Control Panel and see that while the small monitor is connected to "1" Windows actually calls it display 2. Vice versa for the big monitor. Apparently the physical connection is not necessarily the controlling factor here. What determines which is monitor 1 and which is monitor 2?

  • Now it is Creationism (a.k.a. ID). Christians, why are you constantly cramming your beliefs down our throats?

First of all let's call a spade a spade. Creationism is a Christian belief. You can call it Intelligent Design but that is just Creationism dressed up to pass constitutional muster. I could respect your beliefs if you weren't fitting them with a disguise just to get a law passed. Also, don't try to tell me Creationism is science. No legitmate, respected, non-Christian scientific organization accepts it as such. It is a religious belief.

My other problem is the attacks on Darwinism. If they were motivated by the interests of science then I could at least respect them, but they are not. They are used to further an agenda. Even if for the sake of argument you say that Darwinism is imperfect, then how does replacing it with a less-proven, non-scientific theory help? And why not fight for other theories to be taught?

Teach whatever you want at home, in Christian schools, or in Sunday schools. Why have it in public schools? When will you learn you can't force people to believe?

  • Would you please recommend a book on communication?

I need to change the way I communicate with people. I am a very direct person. I'm not rude or disrespectful and I also know when it is important to keep quiet. However when I do speak it is very direct to the point of being blunt. The simple fact that I tell exactly what I'm honestly thinking tends to make me seem aggressive. It also conveys a sort of finality that makes me seem closed-minded. Frequently people don't respond because I state my opinion so strongly or an argument ensues. Obviously I don't intend any of this. It's not what I'm saying so much as how I'm saying it that is the problem. I'd really like to change this. I'm sure there must be a book that can help me get started. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • No Don Imus comments? Is he senile, stupid, racist, or smart?

Maybe I'm a day late, but I'm surprised no one has made any comments on Don Imus' latest remarks. Is he senile, stupid, racist or smart (i.e. this was all a publicity grab)?

  • Stimulus payment question: Can someone explain the logic here?

I guess this is pointless except to make me feel better, but anyway here goes. I paid my taxes via electronic debit. I was using TurboTax and figured there was no point in writing a check and making a trip to the post office on their busiest day of the year. TurboTax asked me if I wanted my stimulus payment via direct deposit so of course I said yes. About 2-3 weeks after it should have arrived I found a forum post that stated if you paid via direct debit then you will get a check. I was hoping the guy was wrong, but sure enough the stimulus payment status website shows a check due to be sent July 4th. If they can take my money via direct debit then why can't they do a direct deposit? It makes no sense!

  • Where in the bible does it actually say what marriage should be?

One of the typical arguments against gay marriage is that it is against Christian beliefs. Usually it is the passage which goes along the lines of "man shall not lie down with man as he does with woman." That is typically interpreted to mean that men should not have sex with each other (and if you want to be technical it is open to interpretation). Therefore technically there's nothing that says they cannot marry so long as they don't have sex. I realize that is silly, but it got me thinking. Does the bible ever say who should get married and how? I won't claim to be a bible scholar. But if it did then I would imagine that would have been used as an argument to gay marriage by now. Therefore I would conclude that the bible says nothing on the subject.

  • What is the "sanctity of marriage" anyway?

When you hear the arguments against gay marriage one that frequently arises is that it "ruins the sanctity of marriage." But what does that really mean? You never hear this phrase anywhere else. Like you never hear that Barry Bonds ruined the sanctity of baseball or Clay Aiken is ruining the sanctity of music. I'm not married, but I really can't see how anyone else's marriage could affect mine. Personally I'm in favor of gay marriage. There's no good reason for keeping two people apart who love each other. Why not crack down on those who marry for money or for a TV show or to stay in the country? Those seem much worse to me.

  • Is there an easy way to post a single link to multiple Picasa (or Flickr) albums?

Here's the deal. I belong to a hiking club and we always have several people with cameras. Almost all of us share our pictures via Picasa. Our club's website allows us to post a link to pictures, but unfortunately it only allows a single link and typically we have at least two or three different people with separate albums. Is there a service or trick that allows you to post a single link to all albums? I was thinking there might be two possibilities, though I could not find them. One would be something akin to TinyURL except it accepts multiple URLs. Another might utilize the RSS feed built into every Picasa album. Any other thoughts or ideas are appreciated!
