  • I recently came across my grandfather's watch, and I'd like to know if it's valuable.?

The company name is ruhla, the case is steel, the numbers and other markings are gold. It's in great shape, works like it was new. Any ideas as to where I can get some info? Thanks!

  • Can someone with more computer knowledge than me help me with an odd "blue screen of death" please?

Ok... my mom makes me come over to look at her tiny laptop. It's got a BSoD, and here's the gist of it:

Prob's been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart. If it appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure you have adequate disk space. (she does.)

If a driver is identified in the stop msg, disable the driver or check for driver updates.

    Blah blah blah, and then...

    Technical information:

    ***STOP: 0x0000007E (0xC000001D, 0x80537008, 0xF79AF508, 0xF79AF204)

Prior to the BSoD, I'm given the usual black screen of choices... I can't get safe mode to go past the file scrolling... seems like it locks up.

No safe mode choice works. The start Win normally and the last known good config don't work either... just tries to load Win and then gives me blue.

It's a HP Mini 1000 with Win XP.

    Thanks in advance! :)

  • I live in central Virginia, and I have a spider on my front porch that I'd like to have some help identifying!?

It spins a beautiful web every night next to my front porch light. It is slightly smaller in diameter than a dime, dark and light brown alternating stripes on its legs, and a largish abdomen with a pale tan cross on it.

During the day it waits in a little cave it built itself above the web.

I'd like to identify it because I have an adventurous three year old that likes bugs, and I'm afraid he'll pull a chair over to it one night and get bitten.

Any suggestions are welcome, and thanks!

  • My hubby's computer, upon starting, sounds normal... no beeps, nothing weird, but refuses to boot to XP?

When you push the button, all of the fans work, the normal case lights function, you can see the BIOS running through the disc drives... yet nothing happens after that. We replaced the battery on the mobo, too. Any ideas what's causing this? It's so frustrating because it sounds completely normal.

  • During laproscopic gallbladder removal surgery, can the scopes see the liver to ascertain if it 's damaged?

I ask because I'm having the surgery done on Monday... I've had 3 separate attacks in the past week, and all three blood lab work ups showed elevated liver enzymes as well.

Can they take a visual of the liver to see if it looks abnormal?

Thanks in advance, and happy father's day to you dads out there. :)

  • I'd like to know the difference between the 40gb PS3 and the 80gb version.....?

Today the 40gb version is being advertized at Walmart for $399, with a $100 Walmart gift card included. At Circuit City, the 80gb console is listed with Metal Gear Solid 4 for $499.

Is the only difference between the two the 40 extra gigs and the game? Will the 40gb console play PS2 games/be backward compatible?

What exactly is the hard drive for? Saving entire games and/or maps? 40gbs seems like a lot to fill up, and will probably be just fine for my husband and I, as we're casual gamers that wouldn't play PS3 games online.

Sorry for the long question, but we've got a ton of PS2 games here and would like to keep the console clutter down by playing everything on one.

  • My son has a raised, pink, hard insect bite on his leg that is oozing clear fluid, any ideas as to culprit?

It happened today over his grandparent's house, before 1 pm EST. It isn't causing him any discomfort, yet I'm concerned because it's rather firm and the skin somehow feels slightly different. I'm pretty sure it isn't a bee or wasp sting, as there's no discernable puncture location.

He exhibited no reaction to my tending to it... I swabbed the site with an alcohol pad, spread a small amount of the clear type of calamine lotion on it, and gave him a dose of antihistamine.

Any ideas as to the culprit, and/or should I be worrying? I'm thinking if he was going to have an anaphylactic reaction it would have happened already... it's been 14 hours.

Thanks for reading my question and thanks in advance for your intelligent responses!

  • Looking for a link to a site that shows a specific Cragar wheel, Series 62 (my hubby thinks)?

I've been to cragarwheel.com, and I don't see a Series 62 wheel, nor am I finding it at Summit or Jeg's. I'm not completely stupid when it comes to cars or parts for them, but this has me stumped. Can anyone verify there's even a Series 62?

He says it's aluminum with some chrome, SS was also mentioned, as well as a 15x7 size. He happened to see them at a Super Chevy car show today, and silly him, forgot to take a picture of it.

Any help would be completely appreciated. Thanks! :)

  • How might I make an uncoated, powdery, bitter-tasting tablet more palatable?

It's a medication that I have to take up to 3 times daily, and does not come in a coated form. My body basically revolts every time I try to take them nowadays... they're about as bitter as aspirin, and the size of an excedrin tablet.

Are there any suggestions as to what I can coat them with myself? Per my doctor, I'm not allowed to crush them, they must be swallowed whole.

    Thanks in advance! :)

  • Searching for photos of a 1969 Hugger orange camaro with a white vinyl top and orange/white houndstooth int.?

My father-in-law is rebuilding one of these beauties, and I've been commissioned to find some decent pics of the car as he wants it : Hugger orange, racing stripes (not hockey stripes,) white vinyl top and the white/orange houndstooth interior. Sadly, I can't FIND ANYTHING! If anyone knows a friend, or a friend of a friend that has what I'm looking for, please post a link to the photo here. It'd be MUCHLY appreciated. Thanks! :)

  • Bought fresh mexican restaurant salsa 8 days ago, is it safe to eat now?

I purchased it on the 6th, 8 days ago... they seem to make it fresh every day, it's super duper hot with bits of onion, garlic and cilantro in it. I'm craving the rest of it, but I'm not sure if it's still safe to eat... any ideas?

It appears fine, no early mold spores and the texture seems the same as well. I just have a horrid fear of spoiled food taste in my mouth... you know, that "first sip of the milk that expired two days ago" fear.

    Thanks everyone! :)

  • I have a lovely set of antique china, where can I find out more about it?

It's a small tea set, pale pink with a white border, made by Johnson Bros in England. It's marked 'Old Staffordshire.'

I know it's not complete, and it's seen some use. I'd like to discover when it was made and if it's worth selling. Here's a link to a picture of a few pieces of it:

    http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/183246/Jaime...

Does anyone have any information regarding this set?

Or know where I can go to inquire on the net?

I searched for a few minutes and came up with nothing, apparently Johnson Bros. made/makes a TON of china.

Any help would be great! Thanks! :)

  • How old was your child when you taught him/her to eat with a spoon?

Hi there! My son is almost 13 months old, and expresses interest in the spoon when I'm feeding him, but he isn't quite grasping how to get food ON the spoon. He knows what to do with it AFTER the food has been loaded on the spoon. Straight to the mouth! :)

If I just let him have the spoon and some food, he'd much rather bang it in the food, or on his tray, or lose interest completely and do something else.

Am I trying to teach this to him at too young an age?

  • Do you have any dip/sauce/condiment suggestions for sweet potato fries?

I recently saw a bag of sweet potato fries at my local grocery store, and thought I'd buy them. Well, now that I have them, I'm not sure what a good dip/sauce/condiment would be for them. I'd rather not use ketchup. :)

    Any suggestions? Thanks!

  • How do I help my 10 month old son learn to sit up from a prone position by himself?

He can sit perfectly fine, but he needs to be placed on the floor. What he needs to learn is how to sit up from the prone (laying down) position by himself.

All the boppy pillow, bebe pod or bumbo chairs do is teach how to support his upper body, not the motions of how to sit up on their own.

I should mention that since he rolls around, he gets plenty of tummy time. I'm fairly confident his stomach muscles are in good shape. He also can support his upper body with his arms, and even reach for a toy while propping his torso up with the other arm.

So, my question is, does anyone have any suggestions as to how I begin to show him the mechanics/'how-to' of sitting up unassisted?

    Many thanks.

(I'm probably worrying too much. I'm well aware babies develop at their own pace, I'm just curious as to whether or not there's something I can show him that will 'jumpstart' the self-sitting process.)

  • My 10 month old is not crawling yet, is there a cause for concern?

    Hi there!

My beautiful baby boy recently turned 10 months old, and does not crawl, nor does he show any interest or inclination to do so. He is perfectly content to roll everywhere he needs to go.

Two days ago my husband and I discovered that our son, if presented with something he can wrap his hands around, can hand-over-hand pull himself up, albeit awkwardly, to stand and do what I can "the invisible hula hoop" move.

He can also tentatively and quite awkwardly walk towards us if we hold his hands and wait patiently. He only takes 3 or 4 steps, but they're steps nonetheless.

Should I be concerned about his lack of crawling? He's perfect in every other aspect, i.e. he sleeps 10-12 hours a night, eats well and is generally a fantastically happy baby with a mellow disposition.

Any thoughts you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and if you're in the states, happy 4th of July!

  • What's your favorite powder formula for supplementing with while breastfeeding?

I'm a first time mom who's exclusively pumping and feeding my 6 week old son breastmilk, but thrice I've had wonky days where my milk production was slightly off, and I had to supplement with a powder formula. My son tends to be gassy, so I chose Enfamil's Gentlease Lipil.

It smells slightly worse than most formulas I've smelled previously, but mixes nicely and he seems to tolerate it just fine. I'm just curious if anyone had a better suggestion as to what formula is great for the occasional supplement bottle. I know that technically they're all the same because they're required to be, but everyone has their own life experiences to draw from.

    Thanks! :)

  • Could someone offer some crossword puzzle help, please?

Pregnant and can't sleep, thought I'd finish up a crossword I'd been working on. I need these two words: An eight letter word for "100-mem. group"... will be _ _ _ E_ _ _ E. The second word is a five letter word for "chorus platform"

    R_ _ _ R

Thanks everyone! :) (My hubby and I like to save them from the Sunday paper, and keep them on the bathroom counter for when we'll.. uh... be in there for a longer period of time.)
