I'm 68 years old and a widower. i have a dog named katie. What else to say?

  • Blocked toilet problem.?

I dropped a container of black pepper in toilet (don't ask!). Someone flushed it before I could stop them. Can't see container anymore and flush is partially blocked. The container as approximately 2.5 inches in circumference (sp) and 5 inches high. The question is: do I try to plunge it through into the waste water pipe (I'm afraid of completely blocking toilet)? Or is there a tool I can use to go in without scratching the innards of toilet grasp container and pull out? Or some other good (non plumber $$$) answer?

  • Why Medicare payments to M.D.s continues downward?

Who is responsible for legislation (sp) allowing payments to cut? Are there groups trying to overturn this crap? If not is there a "bottom"? (when I say groups trying to protect our rights I DON'T mean AARP). Thanks for any information?

  • medicaid why are fees to M.D.s being reduced, how to stop it?

I am aware of doctors who are not seeing retirees because the Medicaid fees paid have shrunk so much. Who is responsible for these cuts? Are there organizations trying to fight these changes? (and please don"t say AARP, they make many millions each year selling insurance. Its like the fox guarding the chicken house!)

  • how can i tell if my computer has been hacked?

A "support" guy at Bit defender told me i had a hacker who was using my computer for "bad" things. He would be kind enough to sell me a program for $160.00 to fix the problem. I am no longer dealing with Bit defender, took their software off my computer last night. I am far from skilled in computer stuff and my computer seems to be working fine. How can I tell for sure I have been hacked?

  • I have a c-pap which needs resetting?

Hasn't been reset in several years. For the last week or so often wake up several times a night feeling as if I'm suffocating. This is really scary. My doctor tried to treat the problem in several different ways (having payed no attention to what I was telling him). Now he belatedly decided to set up a sleep study. It will take at least a week or two to make that happen. However, I have gone through the smothering thing numerous times every night. I am only getting two or three hours sleep a night. This has been going on for three or four weeks now. I have become a danger on the road and a pain in the butt to everyone around me. This is the long way to ask if someone knows how to reset my c-pap up (just until my sleep study. I will go up to just the point where I can sleep. Then I will set the pressure down to the point where it is presently.) Thanks for your help!

  • Serviceable cars for an old fart?

I am 72 yrs old. Looking at the car situation reasonably I probably won't be driving more than 6 or 8 years.

So I need a vehicle that will be fairly comfortable, fairly cheap (4 to 6 thousand), fairly good on gas, I only drive 7 or 8 thousand miles a year mostly in town so highway mileage is not important. It would be nice if the vehicle was fun to drive like focus or mazda3 but they seem to be too expensive for me. Cars that last a long time cost more, as I said a car or van that is likely to last 6 to 8 years is all I am likely to need. (I will be glad to buy another car if I am still able to drive at that time!. Any advice appreciated.

    thanks

  • I am looking for an older cheaper car (around $4,000 or less.?

I'm an old fart looking for an old car that is likely to give me good service with comparatively low maintenance. I'm looking for something in the $4,000 or less range. I am presently thinking about: Focus, Elantra, Buick Le sabre (because I really like the ride and all the connivance goodies), and maybe Optima. What do you think? Should I consider any others?

    Thanks

  • various trouble lights coming on and off intermittently?

Just bought 2001 Wind star. I had 3 places evaluate the van before buying it. Just Tire and break lights were going off and on when I bought it. All three places claimed to have fixed the problem but the Light (or lights) would come back the next time or two I drove it. I left the last place yesterday at 6 PM and when to friends house to show her my "new" wheels. The ABS, engine, break, and tire pressure, lights all came on on the way there and stayed on til I drove home. And yes its always a crap shoot when u buy an old used car. But is this likely to kill the van? Or require black tape over the lights? Or what?

It would be interesting to know approximate prices for these older cars if someone has any of that information.

  • I have a 2008 prius. At 36,200 mi. it developed a head lite problem. After my 2nd, unsucassful, trip the?

unproductive trip to the dealership, I developed a steering (much more resistance in turning). It is strange that I developed the steering problem shortly after visiting the dealership? Do other Prius owners have a greater number of problems in the first year after the warranty expired?
