  • How can I login automatically with a different user on Windows?

Basically, I'd like to know if it's possible to auto log on with a different username depending on the day of the week probably using a login script on a Windows XP machine.

For example, I want to login as 'user1' on Mondays, 'user2' on Tuesdays, 'user3' on Wednesdays...and so on.

The reason I want to do this is because I don't want the person using the PC on Tuesday to see want the one on Monday did, and don't want to go an clean the 'Desktop' folders. I don't want to use the limited 'Guest' account either.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • What kind of noise isolation would you recommend for a drummer?

I’m a beginning drummer and when I practice with the band it gets really loud. I know that I should protect my hearing somehow.

I have an 8-ohms monitor speaker on my side when I play the drum set but I don’t have much control on the sound level other than what we do on the initial sound check. So, I was wondering if it is safe to just plug a pair of powered headphones in series with that monitor (or the one before on the same channel) so that have full control of the sound volume. Ideally, I’d like a mix of the drums, piano and lead singer on a dedicated channel.

Another option I heard was using some earplugs specifically for musicians such as those from Hearos. So, I actually have three questions:

1)Can I safely plug a pair of headphones (with volume control) to a monitor speaker?

2)Are High Fidelity Hearos earplugs a good choice?

3)Is there any monitor system you recommend for drummers?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

I'm running Ulead VideoStudio 10 Pro on a Windows XP machines. Suddenly the 'Video Filter' option dissapeared from the drop-down menu under the Edit tab. I have the same program installed on a second PC and everything is there.

  • How to wirelessly synchronize Outlook with my Pocket PC?

Do you know any software that will let me synchronize my Outlook 2003 with my Pocket PC cell phone without a cable (over GPRS/EDGE network)?

I am NOT running Exchange Server or anything like that in my office.

My need is very simple: all I want is to synchronize my Outlook calendar with my calendar on the phone but remotely over the air (no ActiveSync which uses a cable).

I know IntellySync does it for a $15/mo subscription. Do you know any cheaper option or any freeware to acomplish this?

  • Why are 2 tablespoons NOT equal to a 30 ml dose?

The recommended dose for Vick's DayQuil is 2 TBLS or 30 ml every 6 hours according to the directions provided.

The problem is that if I pour 2 tablespoons into the provided dose cup it marks only about 10 ml (and it's a big spoon). It will take about 6 tablespoons to make 30 ml.

So, my questions are: What is the correct dosage? two tablespoons or 30 mililiters? Is this a printing error?

  • Where do I store my HDV video?

I know that if I buy a Sony HDR-HC3 HDV camcorder it will record my videos on MiniDV tape and I can edit them with an HD-capable editing software. If I connect the camera directly to an HDTV it will show at full 1080i resolution but I DON'T want to use my camera as a VCR. I also know that if I transfer the video to DVD it will be down-converted to 480i (the highest DVD resolution).

So, my question is: What media format do I use to preserve my 1080i resolution? Are the new HD-DVD or Blue-Ray my only options? I don't want to use my computer as a DVR either.

  • How to read a MySQL table using ASP.NET 2.0?

I can't believe how hard it is to find something this simple. All I want to do is code a page where I can type a username and password and read a table to see if the user exists and the password is correct. I know I can do this with the built-in membership classes of ASP.NET 2.0 but all I want is to retrieve the value of a field of a MySQL database. This is the code I got to work so far:

    <%@ Import Namespace="mysql.data.MySQLCli... %>

    <%@ Page Language="VB" %>

    <%

    Dim conn As MySqlConnection

    Dim da As MySqlDataAdapter

    Dim cb As MySqlCommandBuilder

    Dim connStr As String = "server=mysqrver.myisp.com;u... id=myuser; password=mypassword; database=mydatabase; pooling=false"

    conn = New MySqlConnection(connStr)

    conn.Open()

    Response.Write("Connection opened")

    conn.Close()

    %>

Could you please give me an example of how to read from a table. No datagrids or anything like that please.

  • Why is my Acura hard to start when hot?

I have an Acura Legend 1989, a very nice and reliable car until now. Sometimes (50% of the time) when I make a quick stop (at the gas station, for example) the car will not start again until after about 20 minutes.

I replaced the spark plugs, the wires, the distributor cap and rotor. I change the oil regularly. I add an injectors cleaner regularly.

Have you had a similar problem with your vehicle? Is there any sensor that needs to be replaced? What do you recommend besides getting rid of the car?

  • Why does the A/C on my car only cools 10 minutes?

I have an Acura Integra 1993 and our weather here is past 90F degrees so I really need the air conditioner. When I first turn it on, it works just fine. After 10 minutes it starts blowing not-so-cool air but not hot either. I heard that the condenser may be freezing preventing the refrigerant to flow.

Do you think it's a condenser problem or it just needs a refrigerant recharge?

  • Is it recommended to use a UPS for a tube TV?

I'm planning to use a UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) with AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator) to supply power to my 36" CRT TV due to the frequent brownouts in my area. Would this be ok or is it only por computers?

  • How to time limit PC usage?

I have Windows XP and I want to limit the time that the computer can be used. For example, only from 8 AM to 8 PM. I am NOT talking about limiting Internet access, I want to limit computer access. I tried Child Control from Salfeld but it's an overkill, all I want is to limit the time. Thank you in advance.

  • Can I use VPN to access my computer at home?

  • Is Intel Pentium D 820 a 64-bit processor?

I tried Intel's Website but I could not figure out if my Dual Core processor is a 32-bit or a 64-bit processor. All I found is that it uses Intel's EM64T which enables access to larger amounts of memory. I have a Dell XPS 400 and I want to test Windows Vista 64-bit instead of the 32-bit if possible. Thank you in advance for your answers.

  • Should the fan push cool air or pull hot air from my PC case?

I want to add an additional case fan to my computer before the Summer officially starts. What's better? To push cool air in from the front or to pull hot air out from the back of the case? What will keep my PC cooler? Thank you in advance for your answers. Note: I have a Dell XPS 400.

  • Do you know an alternative to the RCA SA-155 amplifier?

Remember the good old little amplifier from RadioShack, the SA-155? It's discontinued and I'm looking for something equivalent (less than $50 bucks). All I want to do is connect my PC's sound card line out to it and a good pair of speakers. I don't want to buy one of those expensive surround sound cards or a 5-pcs amplified speaker set for PCs. All I want is to use real speakers connected to a real amplifier without breaking the bank. Thank you in advance for your answers.

  • How to disable seatbelt alarm on Acura Integra 1993?

My car has a passive restrain system with automatic shoulder belts. The problem is that the motor that moves the belt on the passanger side got stuck. So the reminder light stays on and the chime is sounding ALL THE TIME while driving. This is very annoying although I'm getting used to it. I guess I just need to replace the motor but how do I disable the chime in the meantime? Thank you in advance for your answers.

  • Can you connect two laptops using Wi-Fi?

I want to know if it is possible to have two laptops communicate with each other DIRECTLY without using a router. I don't need Internet access, just plain TCP/IP over the air. I want to be able to share files or perhaps play a multiplayer game over TCP/IP. Thank you in advance for your answers.
