Jerking when asleep - what is that?
I always know it when my boyfriend falls asleep. Why? Because his whole body will suddenly jerk hard. And then it continues throughout his sleep, sometimes just his arms and legs, sometimes the whole body. Sometimes the jerks are strong enough to make the bed creak...
Not only is this weird... it's also something of a bother. I take longer than him to fall asleep, but whenever we sleep holding each other, he'll jerk me wide awake when I was just about to fall asleep. He also grinds his teeth while asleep, and snores slightly.
Is there an explanation to his jerks? And is there any way to prevent it from happening? It's pretty sad when I always have to choose between holding him while sleeping and being able to sleep... =(
2 AnswersOther - Health1 decade agoWhich one is better - France Rail Pass, or the SNCF card?
I am planning to travel to France this summer, and I'm going through the rail ticket options. I found 2 interesting options:
1. www.raileurope.com, providing a France pass which gives 3 days of unlimited travel within France
2. www.voyages-sncf.com, providing a rail card, with discounts of 25%, and up to 50% in non-peak hours.
I am eligible for the 18-25 Youth pass, and I plan to travel from Paris to Provence, and within Provence. Which one would be cheaper?
2 AnswersOther - France1 decade agoHow to travel on budget in France?
I'm a 20 year old girl from Hong Kong. I'm planning to visit France for at least 3 weeks in summer. I plan to visit several different places, with Provence as my focus, but I'll fly to Paris first and visit Giverny. I don't drive, so I'll have to rely on public transport, or my own feet.
I already plan to buy the Rail Europe train pass, and will probably live in 2-star (or below) hotels or youth hostels.
What other ways are there to save money on my trip?
4 AnswersOther - France1 decade agoWhat advice would you give a young woman who will travel to France alone?
I'm a 20 year old girl from Hong Kong. I'm planning to visit France for at least 3 weeks in summer. I plan to visit several different places, with Provence as my focus. I would say my French is slightly below "intermediate", and with a heavy Hong Kong accent, so it would be VERY obvious I'm not a native when I start speaking. I also plan to stay at cheaper places such as 2-star hotels or youth hostels.
What advice would you give me in order to have a safe and happy trip, as well as well-protected personal belongings?
P.S. Don't tell me "Don't go alone"! I wouldn't if I can find a companion...
8 AnswersOther - France1 decade agoCan carcinoid tumour present clinically as euphoria, due to the increased serotonin level?
I recently saw an episode of "Grey's Anatomy", in which it is mentioned that a patient experiences euphoria and feeling of being in love, due to increased level of circulating serotonin, released by a carcinoid tumour. I wonder if this is true, and how common this is?
P.S. I am a med student myself, and I have learnt about carcinoid tumour already, so I won't need explanations on what carcinoid tumour is, what the common presentations are, etc.
