I'm planning for a working holiday in the UK. Where to go?
I'm going to the UK starting in spring 2009 for a working holiday. I would like to know what your suggestions are for locations.
My main decision makers/breakers:
Cost of living, accessibility to budget airlines, and ability to find work (where it's easy to find clerical/office style work, preferably), accessibility to public transit.
Any input at all will be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
2 AnswersOther - United Kingdom1 decade agoFor a student who wants to travel: save up, or get a repayable loan?
Just curious - I plan to travel the instant I get out of college. The only thing I need to contemplate is how I'm going to pay for it. Now, you should probably know that I am a very ambitious traveler and plan to do a LOT while I'm gone. I can't see myself being able to save enough money (well, I'm trying..I only have a part time job since I'm a full time student), so I'm considering taking out a loan, doing my travel thing, then coming back and paying it all off. Good idea? Bad idea? Should I lay off the idea of travelling as much as I can before I settle down? Any input is appreciated!
4 AnswersOther - Destinations1 decade agoKicking someone out?
The situation:
I am currently renting a house with my friend and her boyfriend. Just over a month ago, the boyfriend's friend starts staying here because he was kicked out of HIS girlfriend's place for reasons unknown. He was supposed to be here for a couple nights, which stemmed into a couple weeks, which turned into just over a MONTH now. He eats our food, gets home extremely late and makes noise when I have to be up at 6am every day, and most annoying of all, he actually had the nerve to have a bunch of friends over that I didn't even know when my other roommates left for a weekend. We have not recieved ANY money from him.
My roommates don't seem to think it's as huge of a problem as I do, and are telling me that they don't want to "kick him on the curb". He has had more than enough time to find a new place. I don't feel like it's my place to be kicking him out since it's my roomie's friend - but this is getting to be a HUGE hassle.
I want him OUT. What can I do?

6 AnswersFriends1 decade agoWhat should I look for in a roommate?
I've had many roommates before, but have not previously been in charge of actually finding someone to live with me. The big thing is, I currently live three hours away from where I'll be moving to, and have no choice but to interview potential roomies via online or the phone. My landlord lets them view the place when I give permission.
What kinds of things should I be looking for in someone I'll be living with? Any signs I should be aware of that show they're financially irresponsible?

Is there really enough time in her day to pray for the amount of people she states she will pray for?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoWriters: How do you find your voice?
I have an incredible passion for writing. However, I often find it difficult to really express myself through the written word. I need to find my voice. I'd like to know how you found yours.

What are your thoughts on this novel - is it worth going to buy it? I've been hearing some pretty good thing about it.

If so, I'd love to hear the complete details, and how you think it works. Thanks!
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoAgnosticists - What are your beliefs?
I, myself, am agnostic. I have a few things I want to know.
If you are agnostic, I'd like to know what your theories and beliefs are.
In addition, I've not read the Bible and I'd like suggestions on where to begin.
Thirdly, if you have any interesting book recommendations regarding religion (any), I'd love to hear them. I've heard "Misquoting Jesus" by Bart Ehrman is a good read.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality1 decade agoChronoCross -Playstation 1 - Can't save?
I think this is a long shot, but I'll ask anyways. I'm using a perfectly good memory card and I'm still unable to save my Chrono Cross game. I use the save/load screen. The "Save" option is greyed out and cannot be used, even when the memory card has been properly inserted. Has anyone else had this problem?
