  • What was the TV Series - Guy Who Lived in a Box?

I don't remember too much about it, but I was watching Dexter recently and this brought back memories of this older series.

Basically this dark haired guy likes to sleep naked in a very large box, which I think he keeps in a dark empty room, I believe he was quite a sinister character, and like Dexter the series title was a one word name possibly begining with a P.

That's about it as far as memory goes... It was about 5 years ago... maybe ;)

    Any help appreciated.

  • What is the name of the programming forum?

What is the name of the programming forum that covers Java dotNet, all I can remember is that they have a points system that uses some cute lil black an white character that looks like a penguin possibly waving.

The last time I asked this question it got deleted... the only reason I can see for this is I didn't include a question mark.... Go figure.... Hope some of you know the answer before it happens again.

  • Help with creating an HTML WYSIWYG editor?

I want to know if it is possible to create a WYSIWYG editor for HTML that does not put the HTML headers and footers around the stuff you type into it?

The reason is that what I type needs to be HTML code fragments not complete pages.

I am using an iFrame as the editing window, is it possible to set this so the iFrames content soes not include the footers automatically, or is the another component other than iFrame that will work how I want it?

  • No. of Answers?

Anyone else noticed that the sort order for number of answers (with lowest number of answers first) is now exactly the same as the sort order by date (with the oldest first).... It now seems impossible to try and answer people who have not recieved any answers without trawling through tonnes of answers.

If this is a bug can someone at Yahoo! action this for correction.

  • Can anyone answer these questions?

We are taught in our physics classes that there are 3 diensions of space and one of time (I won't go into the other 7 proposed by M-Theory).

Now if in space we have up-down, forward-backward and left-right as ways of describing the dimensions with words and this equates to 3 dimensions. If each dimension exists as a seperate entity then each one is purely a 2-dimensional line in a specific direction, and using the same reasoning 2-dimensional line just an infinite arangement of directed points of 1 dimension (and can 1-dimensional space actually exist?)

Time itself using this rational is a directed line moving from past-present again a 2-dimensional line.

In my education at least there seems some confusion over the usage of the word dimension, it is used to refer to the movement/measurment in one direction, leading to the 3 spatial dimensions we know, but we are also taught that entities can exist theoretically in each dimension, but one diension by itself is nothing.....

  • Why is it people hardly ever read the optional details?

I'm thinking of making all my questions start with

    'Can anyone answer this question'

Because most of the answers I get only answer the top bit, in which there is hardly enough space to ask any serious question, whereas the main question is below.

    People Read Everything :)

  • Do you know this song?

It's a song to a mobile/cell phone ad. that is playing on british TV and is sung by a female in a soft voice, with some of the lyrics as follows:

    Just another rainy day...

    Just another blade of grass...

    Just another....

Tried searching on the net and with Limewire but no luck so far

  • What if a...?

What if a divine entity was to manifest itself on the Earth, and proof of it's existence was utterly conclusive, but what it had to offer in the way of truth was diametrically opposed to what you now believe.

Would you drop what you now believe?

Or burn in this entity's version of hell (assuming he has one)

  • Question Bumping, A Good Idea?

We all know and hate it when our question leaves the focus of the main page and no one answers it anymore (or at all).

Who else thinks that it would be a good idea to have a bump option that sends your question back to the top of the list?

This bump option could have a point penalty of say 3-5 points and be restricted to how many times you can use it depending on your ranking.

    ie.

Rank 1 one bump per day

    Rank 2 three bumps

    Rank 3 six bumps

    Rank 4 ten bumps.......

If you think it's a good idea let Yahoo! know (consumer pressure works :) )

  • Tell me what you think of this?

Where in the Community Guidelines does it say that 'gaming for points' is not allowed.... Here is a quote from the violation email

    ----------------------------------------------------------

You have posted content to Yahoo! Answers in violation of our Community Guidelines. As a result, your content has been deleted.

Question: What type of plants are best suited for damp/soggy conditions near Sacramento, CA?

Details of Violation: Mold :) Sorry just wanted my two points :)

Reason of Violation: Gaming for Points :

    -----------------------------------------------------------

I would like to point out to Yahoo! that mold is a valid answer to the question. If any thing I was being honest by addmiting the reason for answering. Both Yahoo! and the questioner (I assume he reported me for abuse) should develop a sense of humour.... Yeash it's not like 2 points is going to make me rich or anything!

  • Is a particle a wave, or is it a particle traveling through space/time creating waves as it moves?

Current thinking claims that it is smiltaneously a wave and a particle, this is based on a famous experiment, where particles are aimed at a barrier with 2 slits, the particles that pass through the slits exhibit wave like interference after the barrier (just like the experiments you might have done with waves in a tank of water)

    http://www.hotquanta.com/twinslit.html

If you think the above idea is wrong spend some time thinking why and what sounds better!

This question is purely aimed at prompting some original thinking in this area with no emphasis on right or wrong assumptions, and no pressure on fancy sounding talk, keep your answers relatively simple. If you are a complete novice to science, think about it for a little and try your best, it's your answers I'm looking for!

For all you science buffs out there who think you know the answer based on what you learned at college or out of a book, that's not what I'm looking for, try to think outside the box. Use your imagination!

  • Is a particle a wave, or is it a particle traveling through space/time creating waves as it moves?

This would be akin to a thought model of a boat moving across the surface of a lake, creating ripples that change the paths of subsequent boats in minute ways that leeds to variations in the final destinations (interferance pattern i.e wave like behavior).

This question is purely aimed at prompting thoughts on this area with no emphasis on right or wrong assumptions.
