I put some money in short term, intermediate term and long term bond funds in Feb. and they were doing decent until about the last 30 days? What's going on? Does it have to do with interest rates or the value of the dollar or the stock market or what?

My brother is often "going through hard times" when it comes to money. My parents don't loan him money anymore. They loan me money because I always pay it back. I have given my brother $100 here and there because I feel sorry for him that he doesn't have a good relationship with my parents. I loaned him $200 this time and said it was a loan and I was willing to loan it because he had the means to pay it back and he was doing everything he was supposed to be doing, i.e. working every day, taking care of his family. I can eat the loss but am hurt by the insult of not paying me back.

Don't say "do your own homework". I have read the chapter and it's very confusing. I want to do well but am not getting it. Can you just give me the basics? It's about ethics/morals, Deontologica/Teleological, Utilitarianism. What should I know about Kant?

I loaned him $200 because he's trying very hard to work and take care of his kids. He was supposed to pay me back on Friday. I didn't hear from him. He called me on Sunday to ask me to babysit but I couldn't because I have a class. I asked him about the money and he said he'd pay me before the weekend was up. He mentioned that he went to the bar on Saturday night. I just talked to my sister-in-law and she said he doesn't have the money as far as she knows. I am feeling angry with him and don't know what I should do. I can survive without the money but I don't like being treated this way.

Today was the first day of Sociology class at a community college. I am not impressed with sociology so far because the instructor uses bad grammer and can't pronounce relatively easy words. She says she's working on her PhD!! What's going on here? I thought you had to be really smart to get a PhD. This college bends over backwards to pass every student that tries hard. Is this happening at universities too? Is this an academia problem or are dumb people attracted to sociology because it's easy?

I am from the midwest and am mystified by some of the people I met in New Mexico. Almost everyone I met and was rude enough to ask about their heritage claimed to be Spanish and not hispanic even though they looked hispanic and Spanish was their most comfortable language. These people I met made me snicker because they are prejudice against Mexicans and sound like midwesterners when they complain about stereotypical things like that the Mexicans were taking all the jobs, that they don't want to speak English at their jobs, that they are all on welfare. My eyes just about popped out of my head because in my friends and my eyes, we lump them all together. I was amused but am curious too. Why do they make the point that they're Spanish and are they lying? Why don't they have more empathy or sympathy for new arrivals?

If you did nothing wrong would you let them in or would you tell them to come back when they had a court order?
