Cheyenne
Living in Arcadia, Ohio with my fiance (BTB 6-19-10). When I'm not working at a job that I absolutely can't stand anymore, I love Steelers football, NASCAR (hoping my boy Dale Jr. wins the cup this year!), and spending time on facebook (it's a great way for me to keep in touch with my sister-in-law, and nephews, who are in Korea with my Army brother.Oh, and of course, spending lazy days watching movies with my guy, and learning from him how to do body work. (For all you pervs out there, he's an automotive painter at a body shop.)
Could I be denied on basis of pre existing condition?
My husband is in the process of looking around for another job. Currently, my medical insurance is the cheaper of the 2 offered, so I carry it. If he gets a job where the insurance is cheaper, we'd probably switch over in a heart beat. However, I was recently diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and the maintenance required is a yearly (at least) thing. Will I be able to just switch if the factors are right, or will the new company be like "No, you have a pre existing condition, you have to wait a year."
Please note: I am NOT planning on cancelling my current insurance until after his insurance is in effect.
5 AnswersInsurance9 years agoIs it possible that my car threw a rod? While PARKED?
I have a 2006 Chevy Cobalt with just over 68,000 miles on it. Last week, I drove my car to work, and she was fine. (Well, as fine as has been normal lately...I've been fighting a lean misfire for over a year now, but I really don't see that being the cause of the issues now.) I started her up on my lunch, and she cranked a few times, finally turned, and the engine was louder than the 72 pickup the hubby is restoring. Checked timing (fine), and it's not the water pump (no leaks). Until my hubby's mech. buddy (he's a mech. at a dealer by day, does side stuff) can get his stethoscope thing over to check it out, they're leaning towards me throwing a rod. Now, I have some issues with this:
1) The car was PARKED for 4+ hours before this happened. Don't you have to be running to throw a rod?
2) The car starts. Everything that I'm seeing on google (and my former mechanic brother) says that a thrown rod will = no start.
Am I correct in my 2 above comments? Is it even POSSIBLE that it's a thrown rod?
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoIf Karo syrup were put in a gas tank...?
First off, let me start out by saying that I am NOT asking this because I want to mess with someone. I'm starting to think that this MAY have been done to me.
If Karo syrup/sugar/water/antifreeze, pretty much ANYTHING that can ruin an engine, were put into my gas tank, would it make my car run crappy the very next time it were started, or would it take some time before I'd notice it? To make a long story short, my car was fine on my way to work. 4 hours later, on my lunch, it cranked for what seemed like FOREVER, and when it did turn over, it sounded louder than the 1972 pickup that my hubby is restoring. (I drive an 06 Cobalt. Now, I know that they're not the quietest cars out there, but they're not THAT loud, either.)
Is it possible that someone put something in my gas? I'd like some opinions before I ask the asset protection guy at work to check the videos from that day. Thanks!!
7 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs9 years agoMarried filing seperately. If I use standard deduction, does my hubby have to also?
I work a "normal" (for lack of a better term) job and get a w2 every year. Hubby is self-employed and has deductions out the ying-yang. We file seperately because how it works out, we owe less. (Don't ask, it just does by a difference of about $500 for whatever reason.) Well, I'm having car issues and could really use the money, and was thinking of going ahead and doing mine, but a friend told me that if I use the standard deduction, my hubby will have to, also, even though we're filing seperately. True or no?
4 AnswersUnited States9 years agoHow to hook up an external monitor to a laptop?
My husband accidentally stepped on our laptop the other day, and the screen is COMPLETELY black. I tried plugging a monitor into the VGA port on the laptop, thinking that since we were running Windows 7 it would be just plug and play. Fail. I saw something on the internet about Fn+F4 to get into it, but not being able to see it on the laptop, I can't get ANYTHING! I'm currently on our old computer, but it's bugging the crap out of me since it's SO SLOOOOW! (And the sad thing is, it's slow even to me, who doesn't do too much on the computer...LOL.) Please help. We have a new laptop on the way, but it's gonna be a few weeks before it arrives. Thanks!!

Is there anything out there that keeps my friend safe from retaliation after firing a SS-8 (employment misclassification form)?
6 AnswersUnited States10 years agoWhat's it like to be parasailing?
Thinking about doing it, not totally sure. What is it like when you're going up and back down? Is it qiick going up, or can you not feel it much at all? How fast does the boat go? I'm assuming that there's something that reels you back into the boat, correct? I'm afraid of short heights (like the first 2 steps up a ladder, or a 2 ft high front porch with no railing, LOL, but once I get past that, I'm FINE) and am a roller coaster / thrill ride nut. Thanks, folks!
2 AnswersWater Sports10 years agoToo early for new fuel injectors?
I have an 06 Chevy Cobalt. It has been misfiring and stalling out on me a LOT in the past few months, and my mechanic has troubleshooted the problem and says I need new fuel injectors on the 2nd and 3rd cylinders.
Now, my problem with this is that there was a recall on the fuel injectors on my car. This recall was supposedly done at 29,660 miles and before I purchased it. (Not 100% sure that the recall was actually done, but I'm not going to go into that here. I'll just say that the mileage doesn't match up at ALL.) My car JUST turned 64,000 miles, meaning that those new injectors lasted LESS than 35,000 miles! I'm having a hard time swallowing this! My mechanic has cleaned the injectors (about a week ago), and I trust him with my life, and know he's not screwing me, I just have a really hard time with the fact that it's been less than 4 years and only 35,000 miles since the last set went in. What do you guys think?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoIssue with a Dirt Devil steam mop....?
We purchased this about a month ago. We used it once, let a friend borrow it (she used it once, no problems), then in the past 2 weeks, said friend came over and cleaned our house. This friend tried plugging it in, but no power going to it. I tried it today (on different outlets that I KNOW work...it's NOT an outlet issue), and got the same thing.
When I tried it today, I noticed that there was water still in the reservoir from the last time the friend tried it at our house. Is it possible that leaving water in it for about a week or so could cause it to not work? Seeing as this friend left water in it in our own house, I wouldn't be surprised if she left water in it when it was at her house, even though I emphasized NOT to leave water in it when it wasn't being used. Could this be causing my issues? Or any other ideas for what could cause this? I'm pretty ticked off right now, as this thing has only been used TWO times!
7 AnswersCleaning & Laundry1 decade agoUSB Wireless card with a router?
We have a USB wireless card from our cell phone provider. I've found one router that we COULD buy that we would just plug the card into it, but that router is $180, and I'm not all about paying that. Is there any sort of converter out that I could buy that would convert my USB to an ethernet port? OR can I have the wireless card plugged into the computer, and then take ethernet out of it to the router?? I would honestly rather have some sort of converter, so that if I want to play on the internet while the hubby watches an instant view movie from netflix I can. Thanks in advance!
1 AnswerComputer Networking1 decade agoOld Truck, no title, how to find out if there's a lien on it....?
My hubby purchased a 1970s some (69-75 somewhere, not 100% sure on the exact year) pickup truck a while back. The person he purchased it from didn't have the title, and at the time we weren't too worried about it as the truck was planned to be a parts truck only.
Now, a few months after buying the parts truck, we have come to the conclusion that it would be better as a restored truck. We know that we could apply for a lost title, but are afraid that if we do that and it turns out that there is still a lien on it, we could get royally screwed.
We had the idea of doing a title search (and letting the dmv think we don't actually have the truck in the process) to just find out. I just had a thought that I'm not sure of though. Is there a certain amount of time that can pass if there IS still a lien on it that would make us exempt? I could see us having problems getting the title search done since we're in Ohio, purchased the truck from someone in Illinois, and the truck was last titled in California.
Any ideas guys? Thanks!
2 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade ago8 days too long for a headache?
Today is day 8 in a row of fighting a headache. Nothing is helping. I've taken Excedrin Migraine, aleve, tylenol, etc, and they dull the pain for a couple of hours or so, but it comes back full force. Today was the worst...I was shopping, and it hurt so bad that I was holding the sides of my head looking at chicken.
I was involved in a car accident last week, on Tues. I walked away from the scene no problems, but the next day the headache started. Since the accident I've found out that the other driver was unlicensed AND uninsured, so I believed the headaches to be just stress. Yesterday, they came to do the estimate on my car and decided to fix it instead of total it out. This delighted me to no end, as that was where alot of my stress has been coming from. I figured that the headaches would go away. Nope. Got worse. Any ideas? Should I give it a few more days, or just cave and make the doctor's appt.?
2 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoWhy do I have to pay the deductible?
I was hit by an uninsured motorist just over a week ago. My insurance adjuster is telling me that even though I was not at fault, I still have to pay the $500 deductible. I did make this a claim on my UM policy, not just a regular claim on my insurance. I'm not getting huffy, or anything, just don't understand why I have to pay the deductible when I wasn't at fault.
5 AnswersInsurance1 decade agoCar Accident- Other person at fault with no license or insurance as far as I know?
I was involved in an accident Tues. afternoon. Some guy ran a red light, hit me, and spun me around to hit him again. I left the scene (with the cop's permission) before getting a copy of the police report, because the cop was going to wait around an hour or 2 for the guy's wife to bring an updated insurance card. I was on my lunch break from work, not in any pain, and decided to go back to work. I didn't think to ask the cop what the other guy was being cited for, if anything.
My insurance agent spoke to the other driver the evening of the accident, and he said that he'd already made the claim with his insurance, so they told me that I had to wait til I heard from his adjuster. My agent said that the other driver seemed like a very nice and reasonable guy. Close to 5 pm on Wed. I hadn't heard anything from an adjuster, and called my agent to let her know. She said she'd call the other driver. On Thurs afternoon I get another call from my agent. She tells me that she's left repeated messages for the other driver that have gone unreturned, AND that she thinks he's ignoring her because at first his phone would ring a few times before going to voicemail whereas more recently it was ringing only one time before going to voicemail. My husband and I started to think that something fishy was going on, and went ahead and had her file a claim with OUR insurance, just to get the ball rolling a bit.
Around noon today, I hadn't heard anything from MY adjuster. My agent told me that as long as the claim was made by 5 pm yesterday (which it was) I'd hear from the adjuster no later than today, so I just figured that MY adjuster is busy because of the holiday. (Can totally understand that right now, and I know that a LOT of adjusters work out of their homes.) I decided to take matters into my own hands to an extent.
I have the other driver's "supposed" insurance information (the info that was on his outdated card). I called them, trying to make the claim on his insurance myself. The claims agent I spoke to told me that the other driver hadn't had insurance with them for a few years. She said she could send something to my insurance if I wanted her to, but I told her to wait. I wanted to see the actual police report before she did any (what might have turned out to be) unnecessary work.
Today, when my husband and I got the mail, there were 2 larger envelopes in there for me that were obviously from "ambulance chasers". I wasn't even going to open them at first, but I've had a constant headache and soreness in my upper arms since Wednesday morning. Granted, the headache might be stress, but the soreness should be gone by now. So, I looked at them. The first one, I glanced through, and set it aside to save. The second one, however, included an accident report. Yup, that very thing that I thought I had to wait till Tuesday for.
I was ecstatic. Here I am with something I thought I'd have to wait 4 days for. (You'd be happy too, especially if, like me, you didn't have a car you could just drive into town with to get it!) I started looking at it. For the other driver's insurance, it says "none shown". Now, I'm not 100% sure about the law, so I wasn't too worried about that. I figured he just didn't get it to them right away and had some time to do so. I kept looking, and saw his citation code. I was just curious, so I looked up on the net what the code meant. He doesn't even have a license!! The code was for driving without a license. Now, to me, no license equals no insurance.
I have uninsured motorist coverage on my insurance (full coverage). My question is now this: To sue or not to sue? CAN I sue him? SHOULD I? Should I just let my insurance company handle that? What about the inconvenience to me for the past 4 days? My husband and I are now down to one car that I can't even DRIVE! (I can't drive stick shift.) My mother, husband, and in-laws have been running me to and from town (we're out in the country about 15 minutes away from my job) for work. My mom lives on the OTHER side of town from where we are and where I work, so for her to come from her house to get me, take me to work, and get back home, it's an hour EASILY. I'm documenting the miles that are being put on my family's vehicles, but is there more I should do?
3 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade agoHow long does someone have to make an insurance claim after an accident?
Long story short, I was involved in an accident on Tuesday, and am beginning to think that the other driver doesn't have insurance. My insurance company spoke to the driver on Tuesday afternoon/evening, but left unreturned messages all day Wed, and when they tried to call him Thurs, it rang once and went straight to his voicemail. Now, I know that if a cell phone were turned off, it wouldn't even ring. And if he were just busy, it would ring and ring and ring before going to voicemail. My insurance agent is thinking that he's ignoring them.
I was not at fault in the accident. The other driver ran a red light. I don't have the actual police report to verify I was not at fault, but I had 3 witness that stated he ran a red light. I had to get back to work after the accident and couldn't wait around for the completed accident report. I spoke to the police dept. yesterday morning early, and they said that they'd fax it to my insurance agent. That didn't happen, and now, because of the holiday, the city is closed until Tuesday.
The reason it took so long after the accident for the report to be completed is that the other driver didn't have a valid insurance card on him. He had one, but it was 3 years old. The officer was going to wait for his wife to bring an up to date one, but they live an hour away and I didn't have that kind of time to wait.
"Supposedly" the other driver made the claim with his insurance the day of the accident. I have not heard one peep from his insurance company, and I (and MY insurnace agent) are seriously wondering if he made the claim or even HAS insurance. This is a very big inconvenience to me at the moment. My car is not drivable (his was), and I have to be at work starting on Monday as early as 5 am. That's not really too convenient for anyone to get me to work!
As of 4pm yesterday, we made a claim with OUR insurance to try to get this ball rolling. I need a rental car, and was told by my insurance that I need to wait until I hear from an adjuster before I can rent one, so my husband had our agent make the claim. (I was working yesterday, so he talked to her.)
Did I jump the gun by making the claim with MY insurance? I'll admit that this whole situation is more than stressing me out, but is over 48 hours more than ample time to give someone to make a claim? Also, is it too late for ME to just attempt to contact his insurance company and try to make a claim? Can I even do that? I don't have an agent name or location, but I have the company name, and with that I can surely find an 800 number on the internet to contact them.
I live in Ohio and the accident happened in Ohio, if this helps. Thanks in advance!!!
4 AnswersInsurance & Registration1 decade agoBattery, Alternator, or Starter...?
I had some trouble when leaving work tonight with my car. When I turned the key, all I got were a bunch of clicking noises. I got a jump and it started fine. Since the jump started the battery, does this rule out any Alternator or Starter problems? (Sorry, I'm a girl that knows how to change her oil and not much else. Could ask my hubby but he's peacefully snoring at the moment.)
Also, I noticed that my clock on the radio was resetting itself, but I wasn't losing my preset radio stations. This seemed weird to me, but I'm curious as to whether this might be just something all newer cars do. (I have an 06 Cobalt, last car I had and had to jump was a 97 Mercury Mystique...quite the gap in age in my vehicles.)
7 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoTire things on a 2006 Chevy Cobalt?
I have an 06 Cobalt LT and have seen another one exactly like mine recently at work. I'm not sure who owns it, and have never seen the driver in it (I work at Walmart) so I can't ask them about what I've seen. In their tires, underneath the rims, there's something that looks almost like a "grille" in there. It covers up the brakes, and you can't see them on theirs between the spokes where you can see mine (and any other Cobalts that belong to friends of mine). What is this thing actually called? I've searched for both "tire grille" and "wheel grille" and gotten no results. Thanks!
1 AnswerChevrolet1 decade agoWireless internet card from alltel - possible compatibility issues with Windows 7 ....?
I have a Huawei EC228 data card through alltel. (Yes, I know it's over 2 years old...we're in the process of getting rid of it and switching to DSL, it's just going to be a few months before we do so.) I'm looking at getting a new laptop that has the Windows 7 OS on it. Problem is, my wireless card isn't compatible with 7. I've searched for drivers for it, and found one and only one on some site that I can't remember (not Alltel, Windows, OR Huawei though) and really don't trust the site. (Especially not to download something onto a brand-new computer from.)
Is there any way that I can rig the wireless card to work on the 7 computer? Router, or ANYTHING?!?! I don't care if it looks ghetto or anything, as long as it works....LOL.

3 AnswersSoftware1 decade agoInviting the pastor and other church "employees" to the wedding....?
I'm getting married in just under 8 weeks, and am getting invites around and ready to be sent out. My mom is saying that I need to invite the pastor and his family, my sound room tech and his wife, and my mandated wedding coordinator to the wedding. My FMIL is saying I don't.
Here's the issue - None of these people would be on my guest list if I were having my wedding somewhere else. (They're not people that I'm close enough to to invite.) However, my FH and I are planning on having the pastor at the reception for the blessing (and to eat...lol...it's the least we can do...lol). Do I still need to send him and his wife (they also have 2 toddlers...include the kiddies??) an invitation? Also, what about the other 2 "employees" and their spouses??
