Zincs on the rudders of 1988 Pacemaker Sportfish?
I just bought a 1988 Pacemaker Sportfish and while bottom painting it I noticed it had no zincs on the rudders (I don't know what material they are made of). The shafts and trim tabs are protected but there's nothing on the rudders. I thought maybe a wire ran to a common zinc but I can't find anything. I was going to drill a hole just low/rear of center on each rudder and install the same 3 3/4" disk zincs the trim tabs take. Anyone have any insight? Good idea, bad idea and why?
2 AnswersBoats & Boating8 years agoIs it hard to find parts for a Chrysler 318 marine engine?
I'm looking at a boat that has twin Chrysler 318's in it and a friend told me it's very difficult to get parts for that engine. It seems to me that they're in everything and so the parts should be available but he says no. Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks
2 AnswersBoats & Boating9 years ago1993 Evinrude 175 Fuses?
Just opened my boat yesterday after 2 years. Started it with no problem and let it run for about 20 minutes to burn off the fogging oil. I shut it down and changed the plugs one by one to make sure the wiring was correct. I was going to change the water pump and took off the top linkage bolt, when I went to trim the motor up I had no power. I assume I must have blown a fuse somewhere in the motor because now I no power to the tilt/trim and get absolutely nothing when I turn the key. I didn't see any wire connections that were open and I know there are fuses under the hat but can't find them. Does anyone know where the ignition/motor fuses are in a '93 Evinrude Ocean Pro 175? Any insight would be helpful, thank you.
2 AnswersBoats & Boating9 years agoHow do I know if floor installer did a good job?
I just had hardwood floors installed throughout my house. Since I live on a canal the installer suggested 2 1/4" red oak since it would be more stable. The materials were delivered and sat in a pile in one room for about a week. The guy began the install and didn't have the material to finish so he picked up some more let it sit in a pile overnight and installed it the next day. He finished the floor with Moisture Cure saying he put down 3 coats in 3 consecutive days. The job was completed 4 days ago. The finish on the stairs and railing is fantastic, looks great however the finish on the floors seems spotty. There are numerous spots where it appears to have no finish (used a semi-gloss) but you can feel it with your fingers. What would cause this and is there any way to fix it? I understand wood is a natural substance that has variations but I had wood floors my whole life and they never looked like this. I haven't paid the guy yet and quite frankly don't intend to pay him in full for a brand new job that looks like it's 10 years old.
If you have any insight as to what would cause this and how to fix it I would greatly appreciate it.
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)10 years ago85-95% efficient boiler?
I am renovating my house and have to replace the heating/hot water systems. One plumber wants to use a 85% efficient wall hung boiler with 2 heating zones and a 3rd as an indirect to 35-45 gal. water heater. The other wants to use a 95% efficient wall hung boiler and a wall hung on demand water heater. Their prices are about $5,000 apart with the second guy being the higher of the two.
I live on Long Island in NY, the house has a approx. 750 sq. ft. per floor with an unusable crawl space so space is at a premium which is why I would like to use at least one wall hung unit.
My question is what kind of savings would I be able to expect running the higher efficiency set up? I don't think the extra cost would be worth it but I'm not sure.
Thanks for your help.
2 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWinterizing my boat and have a dual battery system, can I use one battery tender to maintain both batteries?
Don't want to buy another battery tender so I was wondering if any of these three would work.
1. I leave the batteries in the boat hook the tender to one and leave the switch on both would it maintain the charge in both batteries?
2. Leave batteries in, turn switch off and run a piece of 12 GA. wire from tender clamp to each battery? I think this may result in overcharging, if the float sensed either battery low it would turn on and charge both.
3. Remove batteries wire together with 12 GA and put tender on one.
Obviously I think option 1 is the best because it's the cheapest and easiest I just don't want to replace a new battery come springtime.
Thanks in advance
7 AnswersBoats & Boating1 decade agoAre You A Window Guy?
Putting new construction double hung windows into a house on the water, anyone know what the best window is?? I'm looking for something at a reasonable cost, can't spend $1,000 a window.
Thanks
4 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoNew construction double hung windows?
Here's the deal, I just bought a dump on the south shore of Long Island NY. It's on a canal of the Great South Bay and I have to replace the existing windows because they're shot. Once I opened the walls I found the water damage was extensive and had already rotted out the sheathing and some framing. I have to re-frame, re-sheathe and replace the windows. I used Andersons in my old house and have always been partial to them but have been hearing things about some other companies. Looking to hear from contractors/builders/window guys on what, in their opinion, would be the best new construction double hung window to use in a house on the water. I would also like to add that I'm a working guy and can't afford 2K a window or some crazy thing. If you have a round about of what I could expect to pay for a standard 3X4 I'd appreciate it. Was gonna use Windowrama unless I get some better ideas.
Thanks
1 AnswerDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoHow do I tell the kids the dog died?
I have a 10 year old Lab that has a cancerous tumor on his hindquarters. It's gotten to the point that it's time to put him down, before it's real painful to him, how can I tell my 5 and 2 year old girls? Do I tell them before we take her best friend and big brother to the vet on Wednesday and say he might not come back or do I do it and tell them after the fact?? Thanks in advance for your time and understanding.

Anybody out there know the size length and width of the pit boxes? Are they the same size for the trucks and Nationwides?
Thanks and enjoy the race

20 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoHow long till Ky. Busch kills somebody??
How long will it be before Ky. Busch either kills another driver or causes a career ending wreck? He drives like the football player that cuts the QBs knees. Theres no thought other than the present, every lap is the last lap and after he wrecks you he blames you. At least stand up like a man and admit you were wrong. JGR or NASCAR better do something about this dummy.
21 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agopassing below the white in NASCAR??
In last nights truck race Busch passed twice below the white line on the apron (and of course he caused a wreck). I thought it was illeagal to pass with 2 tires over that line, you could only go below to avoid a wreck and you could not advance your position until you came up over the line.
11 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoWhy does NASCAR allow a cup regular to run the truck series??
It really irks me that Kyle Busch is so selfish he can't take his two rides and enjoy them. Why does he get to take a seat away from a newcomer who needs the time and experience behind the wheel to move forward? He has already reached the pinnacle of the sport racing in the Cup series. In my opinion it's the same as Clemens pitching in a high school game

Nationalize Healthcare
Use this lightbulb
Drive this car
Your house can be this big and no more
No smoking -- anywhere, ever (unless its marijuana)
Don't work -- become dependant upon us
The Nazis didn't take everything from the Jews all at once -- they did it slowly. One thing at a time.
14 AnswersElections1 decade agoWhats a conservative to do??
As a conservative I just can't see voting for McCain.
He yells up and down he was right on the war -- Good for you John -- 1 thing in the last 10 years, not a good track record as far as I'm concerned.
McCain speaks with contempt about those of us on the right and can't wait to reach across the asile to moderates like Ted "the killer" Kennedy to advance the liberal agenda. Just because someone puts an -R next to their name does not make them a Republican (see NYC Mayor Bloomberg).
Sen. McCain also had radio talk show host Bill Cunningham out to one of his recent events to give the crowd a little "red meat", get them worked up for the Honorable Senator from Arizona. As soon as humanly possible what did the Honorable Senator from Arizona do -- he threw him under the bus for having the gall to use Obama's middle name. That proves one of two things
15 AnswersElections1 decade agoHas Imus boosted WABC radio ratings in NY? PM should be fired?
I used to listen to Curtis and Kuby in the morning and always found them enjoyable but they were replaced by Imus. The guy sounds like he's got a mouth full of food all the time and he's got no personality. Then this weekend they got rid of John Gambling, it's almost like the Program Manager wants to tank the station -- How does this guy still have a job?? Has Imus gotten higher ratings than Curtis and Kuby??
4 AnswersMedia & Journalism1 decade agoAny think owners points are a BS way to set the field?
I don't get why the top money guys should get into the race automatically. I would love to see Nascar set the field by the actual qualifying times. Thats not to say they shouldn't have them at all, anyone can have a bad day at qual, maybe the top 12 drivers make the race and the rest of the field is set on speed. You have guys that consistantly run badly and their in because of the owners points. I think it would give the whole season a different feel if we had 40 teams running for go or go home spots and give guys from smaller teams a better chance to actually run races. How many times this year did you have a driver qual in the 15th spot only to be sent home??
I think 12 guaranteed spots is enough -- leave the other 31 open for the guy who earns it that week at that track.
Anyone else with any suggestions throw them out Nascar won't listen but halfway through the chase it was a done deal and I think the fans deserve better than a one team two car playoff season
13 AnswersNASCAR1 decade agoDeath penalty?
Can someone please explain, without the name calling and lib/con nonsense, why they are against the death penalty in cases where the perp so clearly deserves it? These scumbags that shot the NYC cops, between the three of them haven't lived a clean day in their miserable lives, the chick in Ohio that killed her infant by cooking her in a microwave, or the two girls who stranggled a 91 year old woman for a gold chain and some bath towels.
Again, without the name calling, can someone against the death penalty explain their rational to me in a clear intellectual explanation?
