  • how to learn to make puzzles?

My daughter loves puzzles -- flat ones, Ravensburger ones. How does one go about learning the puzzle biz? Is college a necessity? Are there apprenticships out there for someone to learn from a teacher? She wants to learn how to make them, not sell them. Any one can help?

  • Why do ppl buy life insurance?

I don't understand why ppl would spend tons on life insurance. I am a single parent of a handicapped child who will never totally understand what to do when I die. She knows enough to call her future guardian first, then the cops and then to point them to what I call "important papers" - her guardianship papers, SSI, birth certif etc. After that, no one is really going to care if I am here or not. I have no real friends, no family except for daughter to come to a funeral and I really won't know wether I am in a fancy casket or just a plain box. So why should I pay an insurance co. oodles of dollars? I have Medicaid/Medicare who will take care of whatever medical bills may come and if I die at home, even my daughter won't know to check on me until she needs something cooked when she gets tired of making soup or runs out. Thanks

  • Just gave up my credit cards (bankruptcy) but now I feel it is too hard on me.?

Both my daughter and I just filed for bankruptcy. We had credit lines of $50,000 each but owed about $20,000 each - give or take a few bucks. We are both on gov't assistance and just couldn't stand giving CC co's. $900 (together) each month. The Rent, Elec, and Cable will stay in the checking acct. automatically - those are the only "real" bills that HAVE to go out on a regular basis.

Now I feel like I am "naked" in the world with no money. The $900 we put away seems like it disappeared. We made envelopes for all the necessities (cat food, personal meds, and vet). We made other envelopes for dining out, a new microwave, walkie talkies (for communication in Foxwoods) and for a trip to Foxwoods and separate envelopes for Amtrack and hotel for next year. We still have some envelopes to fill. Am I trying to save too much too soon? What do you think I should cut out if anything? Thanks, Mary

  • W/c joystick clicking - how to stop?

I am in a motorized wheelchair. I can't stand the clicking sound of the joystick anymore. Is there some way to stop it and make the chair go into a "quiet mode"? W/c company won't do it for me.

  • First real trip Where to go in Vegas?

Finally got rid of my credit cards and now am saving for my first trip to Vegas. I am disabled and will be bringing my disabled daughter with me. Can anyone suggest which hotel would be good - free from resort fees and taxes etc. Should I use something like Expedia or Travelocity or should I just pay separate air and hotel? I want to stay 5 nights (just a weekend would not be worth it for me carrying 2 sets of baggage and my motorized wheelchair along with us). I don't expect a 5 star hotel, but I don't want a dump either. I would like anyone who is disabled and has traveled a lot to answer this but I will also take other opinions too. Which airline should I take that will get us close to the city and does Vegas have handicapped accessible transportation to get around? Or is it walkable? My daughter wants to go to the slot machines and I want to see some shows - The guy with the puppets - Terry Fader - comes to mind. Also Wayne Newton. By the end of Summer we should have about $5000 to $8000 ($8K if we save EVERY penny) but will that be enough for air fare (will never take Greyhound again. Tried that long ago out to Spokane - NEVER AGAIN) and enough for hotel and food, games, shows, gambling etc. Any advice would be appreciated. Other than a weeks worth of clothes, what else should we bring? Thanks

  • Death of family members?

I haven't been in touch with my foster family in years. How do I find out if anybody is still alive? I know my ma and pa are gone, but I don't know if the siblings are gone yet. I was the second "baby" of the family (one adopted boy was younger than I) and I don't wish to spend money on death certificates. I just want to find out if any ONE of them are still alive. I don't know where they are becuase after the house was sold, they all moved and no one has ever contacted me. Is there any way to do this? I have tried diff sites but they all want money to find them and there are so many people with similar names.ty

  • Why won't my " " stand up?

I am writing in Word Perfect 10. When I put quotes in, they are laying down instead of standing up normally. Why is that and what can I do to make them look normal? They are NOT "", they are down on the bottom of the sentence.

  • Chinese neighbor helping me. What do I do to say thank you?

I live in a Chinese community. I am new here. I need a bureau taken from my apt. and my neighbor said he would help. I don't know what would be appropriate to do: give him a small gift or just say thank you. Usually when one person helps another, they look for compensation. So if there are any Chinese people out there, please help. The majority of the Chinese people here don't speak English. Thank you

  • how good is majic jack?

I want to ask how good is Magic Jack? Does anyone out there have it? Is it worth the money? I make very few phone calls but comcast is charging me almost $50/mt for their phone bundle. If I could get rid of it, I could just go down to just the tv. My internet is free from my complex. Crappy wifi but it's free.

  • Yahoo sucky mailboxes?

How can you tell which email you read? I used to get a blue box next to the ones that were UNread but that doesn't come up anymore. In the old box, the typeface changed when the mail was read. Now I don't know which is which and one of my boxes is telling me I have 5 UNread emails but, as far as I can tell, they have all been read. I hate the new mail. Is there some way to go back to the old boxes? Does yahoo.com even CARE what the public thinks?

  • How do I get my book pub's w/o an agent?

I have a finished story. I am not rich enough to self publish and as the saying goes, "You can't get a publisher without an agent and you can't get an agent without a publisher". I have so many rejection letters, I could make a house. All saying, "We are not taking new authors at this time." and other form things. I don't want to publish on the net because I am afraid that someone will steal the story. I don't have money for registration/trademark stuff. It is about the life and times of a handicapped lady - from birth as a paraplegic up to her 50th birthday. Her trials and tribulations of being raised in a foster home because her father didn't want her as she would be a burden on her sick mother who had three normal sons - who never really kept in touch with her as they got older, her joys/heartaches of going to a regular school and sorrow/anger because her "friends" never let her really play with them; her heartaches and how she became a junkie but her triumph to overcome it; how she had a handicapped daughter and took care of her by herself because the baby's father didn't want to have "two handicapped women to take care of"; how men used and abused her and how she overcame them and the mental/physical anguish they inflicted; the loneliness of not having anyone to depend upon and the triumphant feeling of independence once she got something accomplished; the over forty surgeries she had during her lifetime and how she dealt with them.

Is this something that someone might want to read or am I just fooling myself and I should get rid of it. It is over 500 pages long. There is also a part in there where she wants to become a writer and she writes raw, erotica (which btw, can become a separate book).Anyone out there want to give me some advice?

I HAVE had people read it as it was going along but now I am in a new place and have no friends. No relatives either. My older friends loved it - I left them at ch 14. I have read, edited and edited and I am satisfied that it will be a good book - not a Pulitzer - but a good reading book. I don't expect to be a Margaret Mitchell with only one book that sold millions and becomes a movie (although that would be nice), but I will be satisfied if this could get pub'd and sold at a decent price and make something off of 30 years work.If there is anyone in Boston who would like to read it?

I can make copies of a couple of different chapters but I won't give the whole book out. Any pub co.'s want a new writer?

  • sealers for wood/sand crafts?

I am doing pictures on wood with sand. How do I seal the sand so it doesn't fall off? Would Thompsons Wood Sealer (for floors) be good? I used to use Polyglycote but I don't think it is made anymore. Any suggestions out there?

  • Lawyer took $10K out of $20K lawsuit, I'm left with $350!!?

I had a case against a medical company (so did 2,000 other people). The device I had inside of me broke (I had a hernia and a patch was placed inside to push my stomach back in). I spent a month and a half in the hospital and am now left with a huge lump coming out of my stomach - the hernia.

I look like I am pregnant only on one side, my clothes do not fit properly and I am miserable. I don't go out anymore because of this and if I go shopping, I wear baggy clothes. On top of that, I am wheelchair bound (born) and sitting makes the hernia pop out more (when I lay down, it goes back in). No doctor wants to fix it (I've been to two already) because they are afraid the devices (any devices) will break again and I will be left with a BIGGER lump.

The lawyer called me last night and said that the company is willing to pay $20,000 to make my part go away. HE is taking $10,000 and Medicaid and Medicare is taking over $9,000 (they want their money back for the hospital bill) and I will be left with approximately $350 out of the whole thing. Is that right for the lawyer to take so much?

I have NOT signed a waiver for this to "go away", but the lawyer is telling me that there is NO WAY for me to win at trial because it was just an infection -- the bowel was not pierced or anything. Is there anything I can do?

Other people got thousands of dollars out of this, but because my situation was considered ONLY an infection from the device, that is all I get.

  • Cochituate State Park handicapped accessible?

The complex that we live in is having a Family Fun Day at Cochituate State Park. It seems that this park only has fishing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming.

My mom is in a wheelchair (motorized) and I was wondering if it would be worth it for her to go. She can't swim, can't paddle a canoe or a kayak (she is para/amp) and doesn't like to fish.

What else is there to do there for her? She won't bbq because she is afraid of getting burnt. We really don't have any neighbors - this is an apt. complex of mostly Chinese people and they don't befriend you. We have lived here almost 3 years now and still don't know our neighbors so there is no one "to go with".

Should we just skip this? I am also handicapped - her daughter - and I can't do any of those things either. I have tried to look up several sites of this park but it says NOTHING about being handicapped accessible.

  • For construction workers only?

My apt. complex is being TOTALLY renovated from top to bottom and inside and out. CONSTRUCTION WORKERS: When you find a birds nest, what do you do with it? Do you put it in the nearest tree or do just throw it in the trash? If it has eggs in it, do you throw those away too? Or do you just leave them alone?

My complex has a LOT of open spaces where sparrows and other small birds have nests. I do not want to see them destroyed so how do I go about getting the workers to give them to me so that I can raise the birds myself? Would they be allowed to give them to me?

Will you vote for him (again, if you voted the last time). I wouldn't. He's already done enough damage. I don't even think I will vote anymore.

I have a lot of cassettes that I made from my 45's and need to turn them into cd's before they rot away. The tapes won't last much longer I don't think.

Is there a machine or a company that can do this? I have about 60 tapes with about 20 songs on each side, so there are A LOT OF SONGS to do.

I asked this months ago but never got an answer.
