I recently put some black tar on my air conditioner's elbow duct on the roof of my house. It goes from the air conditioner, through the elbow, into the house. My question is, should I paint the black tar white to reduce any heat absorption from the sun? The air conditioner sits on the roof and since the cold air should be passing through the duct, any heat from the sun hitting it might reduce the coolness of the air.
