Some accuse them of preaching "God Lite", or of avoiding quoting or reading from the Bible altogether. The churches respond that they are trying to appeal to a broader audience that gets turned off by "fire and brimstone" or other overtly religious messages. What are your thoughts?

Whenever I (used to) enter into a philisophical discussion with a religious believer, I found lots of points in the discussion - particularly when the conversation becomes intellectually difficult - when the believer sums up his points by saying "I guess you just have to have faith."
With science answering more and more questions that religion used to teach as dogma, isn't this statement becoming more and more of a cop-out? I tend to think that too often "having faith" means not having to ask or seek answers for the truly difficult questions.

Still illegal: Harming others without their consent (e.g. murder, assault, rape, stealing, etc.)
