  • Fabric glue on vinyl?

Can I use a fabric glue (such as jiffy sew) to form a seam with vinyl? I am trying to cover a high-density foam cushion in vinyl, but am having trouble hand-stitching the final seam. Will a fabric glue work to close up the cushion cover, or must I stitch it by hand?

  • Chemical corrosion of ABS pipe?

Does anyone know what type of household chemical could melt right through ABS pipe - specifically a p-trap under the kitchen sink? The pipe is still soft, which indicates some type of chemical reaction (melting it with a torch would cause the pipe to re-harden once cooled). The weird thing is, the pipe has a sort of "minty" smell to it now. The homeowner claims they did not pour anything down the drain, but I find that really hard to believe. The corrosion is limited to the bottom of the trap, right where the trapped liquid would be sitting when the drain is not in use. They've clearly put something down there, I'm just trying to figure out what. I've seen Draino do some interesting things to ABS, but never to this degree. The pipe was installed less than 3 months ago, and it has completely corroded through that area.

  • How long does the bottling process for homemade wine take?

My friend & I had two batches made at a small wine-making store. We are scheduled to bottle both batches tomorrow, however my friend has been called in to work, so I will now be on my own to complete the job. Wondering approximately how long it will take, and how much work is actually involved in the bottling process, since this is our (well my) first time.
