Is that so...?

In the series everyone but one boy has their own personal pet (called sprites or spirits IIRC) except one boy. The boys mother stunted his growth so no one would recognize that he was the son of a slain prince. The boy ends up being the grandson of the king and at the end of one book he inherits the kings sprite. People who have an air sprite can fly if they are powerful enough, but salt hurts the air sprites. After defeating an army of large cat/human hybrid creatures who invade his land (i think they are called carnin or canin) he forges an alliance with them and goes across the ocean to their homeland. I don't really remember too many other details at the moment as it has been years since I've read this series, and was hoping someone could tell me the name so I could see if any new books have been released.

Don't these people realize that this is a blatant, and in some cases potentially harmful, invasion of that person's privacy?

How many people on here believe in a faith were raised to believe in a different faith? Such as a Muslim becoming a Christian? Or a Christian becoming a Muslim? Why did you convert?
