When are home appraisals usually done once the home is sold?
We sold our home in october, roughly the 3rd week in oct. We are supposed to close on our new home in 2 1/2 weeks, but the appraisal has not been done on this property yet...Just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this and how you dealt with it. We just want everything to come together on time. Thanks for any and all responses.
3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoquestion for old car oldsmobile guys: Are olds starfire seats rare or worth good $?
I have a 1965 impala that does not have the original seats, for the life of me I have tried many times to figure out what the seats are from that are in it. It's a power front bench (missing switches though) with built in armrest, rear seat has built in speaker with olds peace sign emblem, I have recently been told it's from a olds starfire (maybe 65/66?), which I actually think may be correct, if I could only find pics online to verify. Any old car guys know if these seats are rare, very tough to find information on them. Also any idea what they are worth?
2 AnswersGMC1 decade agoHow much should it cost to have these household repairs done?
I hired out a place to install a furnace on my home, they did some damage in the process...In your opinion how much should it cost to have roughly a 6 inch to 1 ft square piece of sheetrock wall cut out, replaced, mudded, sanded then have the room painted (roughly 30 foot x 25 foot) and have a exterior door painted on the house. I don't really want to bother getting a true estimate unless necessary, I will probably do the work myself, and they are aware of that. They would like me to write up a sort of reasonable estimate so they can re-imburse me for it. Any ideas on cost? Or even just amount of time I may spend on this project, I am not looking to gouge them, but I don't want to price myself too low either.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHow much should it cost at a shop to replace spark plugs on a '91 lumina van?
I called up the local shop to find out how much he wanted to change the spark plugs on our old 1991 lumina apv van.. Looking at your basic ac delco plugs, nothing fancy, he quoted me $225 bucks, sounded very high even for a transverse engine that he would need to rotate forward to get at the back plugs.. a few questions..
1. Anyone know the proper rate for this?
2. Are they that tricky to get at with the engine rotated forward?
3. Think a chain outfit like "precision tune" would be cheaper?
4. What place have you found to be cheapest?
I would do them myself, but hate working on transverse engines.
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoHow difficult is it to replace a gear selector cable (for automatic on the column) in a 1996 lumina car?
Does this require special training or special tools? I have found information online about the part costing about 120 bucks and 160 bucks labor (or 2 hours to replace it requiring partial disassembly of steering column) I am tempted to pull one from a salvage yard first to see how it goes, then install in my vehicle, but would like some information about how this column comes apart if anyone has done this. This car is a 1996 chevy lumina (the 1995-2000 "most recent body style")
1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoWhat is the difference if any between the chevy Z71 package and the Z71 off road package?
I have a Chevy Silverado Z71 off road, I have a co-worker that has a regular Z71... they were both manufactured less than 6 months apart.... the stickers on the back fenders don't even look the same.. anybody know the real difference between these 2 trucks? not just guessing?
3 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation2 decades agoWhat happened to the t.v. show called REUNION.. it was about students that were eluding police about murder..?
this show was about a group of high schoolers and one of them supposedly killed another, the story was based many years later when the cop was trying to figure out who out of the group killed their friend... the show had lots of flashbacks to the time frame of the 80's? and they would give you slight clues all the way through it.... but they never finished the story, all of a sudden it just disappeared off the air... what happened? who killed who? and why is it not on the air to finish the story? Money problems/low ratings? bummer!!!
5 AnswersTelevision2 decades agowhen welding on a vehicle.... disconnect battery or leave it hooked up?
I had heard back in the early 90's that if you need to do welding on a vehicle you should disconnect the battery to avoid damaging the alternator or other computerized electronics... I have recently come across a shop that was doing some welding on a vehicle and the battery was still hooked up... I would think that vehicles made in the 2000's would be more prone to risk due to all the heavy computerized items on board... is leaving the battery connected safe to do? or was the shop doing things wrong?
I have always disconnected to be safe.
4 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs2 decades agowhat would you do to a fool that uses a pliers on a oil plug that takes you 45 minutes trying to remove?
I just bought a used truck from a small used car dealer... the oil plug had been loosened and tighted many times by morons that either used a pliers or vicegrip instead of buying a 14mm wrench.. took me 45 minutes to get this torn up bolt out, to make matters worse it was in a recessed area so getting a good grip with a vicegrip was near impossible. half the head is missing and unlike many others I replaced it of course and installed it with my "spendy" 14mm wrench. but just curious what would you do to a idiot that practices these methods of maintenance? especially if you were in a dark alley and he was working on your vehicle?
(come on folks wrenches are cheap.)
5 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs2 decades agoChevy/Gmc push button 4x4 owners only please: Do you need to shift into neutral or park to activate the 4x4?
I have a 2000 chevy with pushbutton 4x4, I have always had the lever style so this is a first for me... appears my 4x4 only engages when pushing the button in neutral or park, takes a couple seconds for it to engage and makes a clunk sound (that sounds like putting a rear wheel drive vehicle in gear) when it engages into 4x4. The 4x4 works fine once in gear. Is this all normal or is there anything I should have checked out on it? Thanks in advance!
