  • Biography of comics writer Alan Moore?

Does anybody know of a written biography of the life of comics legend Alan Moore? I can't find one. I'm interested in finding out more about his early life before he was famous.

  • Is there a list showing all anime released in the U.S. sorted by year?

Does anybody know of where I can find a list of all anime released in the U.S. listed in chronological order? I got into anime back in the mid 90's, and I'm interested in revisiting some of those old school titles and maybe discovering some other old titles that I missed back in the day.

  • Prince "Little Red Corvette" Cover - anybody know of this?

I heard a cover version of Prince's Little Red Corvette recently and I'm trying to find out who does it. The tempo was slower and simpler than the original version and sung by an older male vocalist. Can't remember where I heard this. Maybe at a Barnes and Noble or a Starbucks.

Anybody able to help me out with this one?

  • Chevy Prism dome light cover?

I have a 1999 Chevy Prism and my dome light got cracked. I'm looking for a replacement cover, but so far I haven't been having much luck with my internet searches. (I don't know if "dome light" cover is the correct terminology or not).

Anybody know where I could find the replacement part I'm looking for, or if it is called something else other than a dome light cover?

  • Getting my money back, is this possible?

I bought a jacket for my brother. It was too small, so I went back to exchange it. There were no more in stock, but the employee told me that a new shipment would be coming in every week. He then took down my name, phone number, and description of the item that I needed.

Here's the problem. I was mad about there not being any more items in stock, so I wasn't thinking clearly. I gave back the jacket, but kept the receipt thinking I'd just bring that in. Today, I called the store, and I get the feeling that the manager might not want to give me my money back, since I only have the receipt, but no jacket to bring in with it.

My question, do I have a case for getting my money back? Even if I were mistaken in not keeping the jacket, the employee never should have accepted it back. He should have told me to keep it. I was acting in good faith, trusting that my receipt would be sufficient when the new stock came in and that employee never suggested otherwise.

  • What is this Stephen King short story?

I read a lot of Stephen King back in the day. There was this one short story by him that I swear I read, but can't find anymore.

What I remember about it was that this guy and someone else (I think) are driving, but their radio gets all weird, and then there are these flying creatures like pterodactyls or something. The people from the car end up taking refuge in this supermarket or some kind of store. Can't remember exactly what happens then, but then at the end, I think they run back out to the car and drive away, and they figure out these things are from another dimention that has opened up on earth or something.

That's kind of vague and maybe I got some stories smooshed together, but does anybody know what story this is? I think it's from one the first couple of King's short story collections.

  • Anyone out there able to help with French name pronunciation?

Baudelaire - how would one say it?

    (Bonus question:

Anyone know of a superior English translation of Baudelaire's (complete) Les Fleurs du Mal? It seems like there isn't a definitive version that everyone can agree on.)

  • "Natural cycle" believers, could you please enlighten me?

Ok, I hear a lot of people express doubts about global warming. They are anywhere from skeptical to fanatically outraged by the very consideration of it. Many of the global warming disbelievers throw out the term "natural cycle" to explain their doubts.

Could any GW unbelievers out there help satisfy my curiosity by answering some questions for me?

A.) Does anyone have a link to information explaining what this so-called "natural cycle" explanation is and what scientific evidence there is for it? What percentage of scientists support this?

B.) The polar ice caps are melting at an accelerating pace. This is fact, not theory. Can this fact be reconciled with the idea of a so-called natural cycle warming explanation?

C.) Does the accelerated pace at which Polar ice is melting fit the so-called natural cycle theory? If so, when exactly was the last time the Polar ice caps melted according to this theory and at what pace?

  • Burma? Myanmar? Which is it?

Ok, I'm confused. I thought that Burma was now Myanmar. But Bush recently kept refering to Burma. (Which I ignored because, well, this is Bush we're talking about...) And then I heard people on BBC radio America refering to the crisis in Burma. Hence the confusion.

So, which is it? Myanmar or Burma?

  • Spot reduction, myth or no?

I've been trying to get in shape and reduce some bodyfat. It's been said that spot reduction supposedly doesn't work. But, I'm not so sure about that.

I have less bodyfat in my back area than I do in my chest and stomach areas. This would lead me to think that spot reduction does work, since I use my back and arms a lot at work for lifting.

So what's the deal? Is there truth to the idea of spot reduction?

  • After the stitches come out, is it safe to...?

I got into a rock climbing accident 2 weeks ago when a sharp rock sliced deep into my right knee. Even so, I was lucky and no damage to the bone or any tendons occurred. Everything's gone well ever since I got stitched up at the hospital. No infections, I've been taking it easy on my knee during this whole time, been washing it, applying anti-bacterial ointment, etc.

The wound seems like it's healed well. My question is, after the stitches are out, can I go right back to jogging, biking, and other kinds of like activities again? Does something like the knee need more time to heal before putting the normal amount of exercise stress on it again?

    Any advise would be appreciated.

  • Liberal media bias?

I hear a lot of people talk about a so-called "liberal media bias." I don't see any evidence of this. The only consistent bias I see in the media is a bias for making money, increasing viewership, and getting ratings. I'd like to hear a good defense of the idea of liberal media bias, since I've never heard a convincing or coherent one.

    1. Can anyone give me a clear definition of what this fuzzy term "liberal media bias" means?

    2. What actual proof or evidence is there for this so-called liberal media bias?

  • Bible without the columns?

I have a 1978, hardcover, large print, NIV Bible published by Zondervan. The best thing about this version is that it doesn't split up the pages into two columns of verses.

Does anyone know if Zondervan or anyone else still publishes a NIV bible where the words appear on the page like they would in a regular book or novel and NOT in those annoying two columns?

"Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

It's a English translation of a famous quote by Diderot. Does anyone know what it is in the original French, and could you post the French version for me?

  • Virgina Tech killer overkill?

Am I the only person who thinks that the media has quickly turned this story into a carnival show for ratings, viewership, and profit? I'm so sick of this dominating the news.

It's just lurid sensationalism at this point, and the more attention it gets, the more this glorifies the idea of becoming a famous serial killer with international attention. Natural Born Killers, anyone?

  • Catholics, fish only or...?

One of the delivery guys who comes into my work must be Catholic, because he was asking if he could eat chicken today or just fish. I'm not Catholic, but I thought that the rule was fish only. Then he asked if eating other seafood like shrimp was ok, too.

So now I'm curious. Any Catholics (or non-Catholics) out there who know exactly what the rules are? Just fish? Chicken too? All seafood?
