I'd like to plan a 2-day midweek getaway, and was looking into the wilderness beaches of Long Island and the barrier islands. I'm not sure what's open in December. I'd like a place I can get to fairly easily by LIRR and Taxi, with wi-fi, and an easy taxi ride to the beach or ferry. Any suggestions?

If you don't mind answering a few questions, please respond. This is actually a very informal public survey I'm doing as one part of a research presentation for educating the public about science. The developers of transgenic mouse technology recently won a Nobel Prize, and many people first learned about it from the news coverage on their work. I will be working with public groups to answer basic questions, and it will help me to get a sense of general public opinion, concerns, questions, and understanding as I prepare my material. What helped get you through it? What makes some people more resilient than others? Do some of the same things that make people resilient also make them more likely to be targets (for example studies have shown that very intelligent children tend to be more resilient to adversity)?

I was thinking about the abortion debate, and I think that a lot of people are led to stereotype women who seek abortions as being a certain age, class, etc. Who do YOU think are the women seeking abortions, and why do you think they seek them?

How do you get yourself back on track again? Is it a temporary thing for you, or does it last longer? Have you identified what makes you feel burned out in the first place?

I'm writing a story about a person visiting a planted weeping willow throughout their life, and want to make it realistic. I know what seedlings and mature trees look like size-wise, but am looking for specifics on the younger and adolescent ages. Thanks!

I just read an article on Forbes that listed the highest average rents in the most expensive places around the US as being around ~1200/month, which astounded me since that's less than what my roommate and I pay on a rundown old farmhouse (and that was one of the better deals I found...)! Just curious what average rent is where you are living? And, what's the most you ever paid for rent?

We hear so much about "middle class values", but I'm curious how you personally draw the lines differentiating lower class, middle class, upper middle class, etc. I'm not looking for something cut and pasted... I'm looking for opinion. A good answer should be well thought out.

do you just "know" who will be the best leader? In other words, how do you make your decision- is it fact-based, is is gut-based, or is it something else?

I start physical therapy next week for a pinched nerve and extreme SI joint pain . This is all new for me. Has anyone been through this? What can I expect? What should I wear? Any recommendations for making it more bearable?
