1 AnswerCorporations7 years agoIs anyone familiar with Windows 8.1?
HELP! I got a new laptop back in Sept. It came with W8, Microsoft Office and Adobe reader. Both programs show up in "installed programs," but I can't for the life of me figure out how to open either one. 5 hours in the last 2 days trying to figure things out and find my way around. Office shows up in apps too, but they want me to buy/download it again. PLEASE HELP! I'm going crazy!
2 AnswersSoftware7 years agoSomeone... ANYONE, PLEASE HELP!! How in the world do you destroy (and I mean OBLITERATE!) trumpet vine plants?
They are invading the lawn, the hostas, day lilies, and an empty bed that I want to plant in next year, and also trying to creep through the basement windows!
1 AnswerGarden & Landscape8 years agoWe've inherited an Amazon Macaw and he's adjusting nicely. He likes fruit, potato, veggies, etc.,?
I'm wondering about other foods. We're having pizza and I want to know if it's safe for him to have a bit of crust with a little sauce on it?
He seems to be happy with what he gets for food, just looking for suggestions for things they especially love!
My next post will be about a Freedom Flight. He is 30 and never been free to fly. I've read that they need that!
4 AnswersBirds8 years agoHELP! Some friends gave me dvds (one is a music video, the other a picture slide show) to play in my computer?
And I can't get them to play. When I put them in nothing happens. I have Windows Media Player but they don't show up in there either. How do I get them to play? (In layman's terms please!)
Thanks!
4 AnswersSoftware9 years agoHELP! What to do about this baby bird?
So a baby robin fell out of our tree this morning. I caught my doggie nudging it with her nose and got her away fast. The bird recovered from that and found its way to a sheltered corner in my garden. When I came home from work it was sitting in the middle of the alley way. Now it is resting in the grass at the bottom of our fence and mama seems to have abandoned it. I don't think it is ready to fly as it barely has feathers on its breast. What do I do? I don't want a dog or cat or other critter to get it.
8 AnswersBirds10 years agoWhat is the rate for cleaning an average size home in Wisconsin?
I have a residential cleaning business and have not raised my rates in 10 years. I am the sole employee. With the cost of EVERYTHING going up, I am considering an increase and wondering what the going rate is.
3 AnswersSmall Business1 decade agoHow long do fresh eggs last at room temperature? (Straight from the nest, unpasteurized, unwashed)?
Worried about my mother-in-law. She says the farmer told her they would keep for over a month at room temp as long as she didn't wash them. I think it's hooey!
7 AnswersOther - Food & Drink1 decade agoGentle, safe exercises to get moving again after back spasms?
I have been basically immobile for a week due to back spasms caused by a protruding disc. I have been walking around the house and laying flat with heating pad for 1hr about 3-4 times a day. The spasms have subsided, but I am terribly stiff and sore from lack of activity. I need to know what stretching exercises I can do that will not aggravate the disc.
Thanks in advance!
4 AnswersPain & Pain Management1 decade agoWhat in the world is Dummy Windowless and how did it get on my computer?
I am using AVG free 2011, and I just ran a complete scan. Upon restarting it says there is a program called Dummy Windowless running/not responding on my computer. What is this? Do I need it? If not, how can I get rid of it?

1 AnswerSecurity1 decade agoHow to stop dog from digging?
We have a 10 month old pup, believed to be a lab/beagle mix and she is constantly digging (BIG) holes in the yard. I scold her when I catch her in the act, but can't watch her 24/7. We've tried filling them, but that just seems to motivate her. HELP PLEASE!
Thanks!
Other than the digging she is a truly wonderful dog! Just saying...

1 AnswerScanners1 decade agoVegetarians: I need your help, please (or anyone!)?
I'm throwing a party for my son's birthday and there will be a few vegetarian guests. I was going to order veg. lasagna, but I tried it and they make it with canned spinach. It was good, but not great. Am I better off ordering a veggie pizza or maybe spaghetti with marinara?
Also, if you have a veggie side dish recipe (something unique) you'd like to share, please do!
Thanks for your input!
9 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoComputer question: "Unresponsive script" warning?
Several times a day (like 2 or 3 times per hour) I get a window on my screen that says "Warning! Unresponsive script," then the option to stop script or continue to see if it will complete. I always choose "stop script" and go about my business. What does this mean, exactly, and how can I fix the problem? A lot of the time it freezes my computer and I'm forced to restart. SO frustrating!
Thanks for your help.
3 AnswersDesktops1 decade agoBest time to ...eliminate a bees nest?
We discovered a hive in the overhang that is very active. The bees are getting into the house (sleepy, crawling on the floor and we have a 6 month old puppy) and we want to get rid of them. Hubby got the spray, and we know to do it after dark, but now I'm wondering if it would be better to wait until after frost, when they are completely dormant. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
4 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoQuestion about painting paneled walls?
My living room is dark brown wood "grain" paneling and I'm really sick of it. I'd like to paint the paneling (There is only plywood beneath it so removal is not an option right now.) a light gray-blue with a bit of glimmer. How does one achieve the effect of high gloss flecks or streaks? Does the paint come that way, or is it a technique? Also how do you prep the paneling for paint?
Thanks!
1 AnswerDecorating & Remodeling1 decade agoHow to store Dahlias for winter?
This spring I planted dahlias that are not winter hardy to my zone. They're done blooming now, and I'm wondering how to properly store them for winter? They're in pots. Should I leave them in the dirt, dig them up, or what?
Thanks!
3 AnswersGarden & Landscape1 decade agoIs it possible to be depressed for no reason?
I've been trying to figure out what is causing me to lose the desire to do the things I love, like cooking, gardening, writing, reading etc. I have no desire to talk to people on the phone or visit. Sometimes I find myself just staring out the window at nothing. I don't understand it because my life is good and I'm relatively happy. What could be causing me to feel this way?

12 AnswersPolls & Surveys1 decade agoWhat's the best way to get smudges off of a flat screen (plasma?) TV?
I was at a cleaning job today, and the teenage boy asked if there is a specific product or method to clean flat screens, such as TV or monitors. I use only a dry Swiffer, which works well for dust, but they have a dog, hence nose-prints on the TV screen, and I've come across many screens with finger prints and other smudges on them. Is there a way to safely remove them?
Thanks for your help!
*Hmmm... Where to post this? I'm going to try a couple of different categories. Sorry for the repeat Q, contacts!
