6 AnswersPhilosophy9 years agoHow did they do it, the great military commanders of old...?
In ancient times, great military commanders like Hannibal, Alexander The Great etc waged campaigns over wide territories, lasting several years and with armies more than say 20,000 or more people (King Xerxes reportedly moved with over 200,000 soldiers during the Persian campaign against Athens and Sparta).
Apart from the actual battles, which most history books tell us about, we don’t seem to hear about equally very important aspects of these wars. For example,
- How did they manage to supply adequate food and water to all the troops to keep them happy and fit enough to fight
- Apart from getting the food supplies, who cooked for over 20,000 soldiers?
- How did they sleep, in the open? Make huts everywhere they stop or what?
- If the campaign lasted say 5years, did they wear one set of clothing throughout, or did they carry spare clothes? Did they wash their clothes?
- Did they have their baths regularly? How, Where?
- What did they do about attending nature’s calls like over 20,000 people needing to go to the toilet?
- What did they do about health care? Either no one got sick, or getting sick meant certain death?
- What about women? The troops went for five or more years without knowing their wives or any other woman?
They must have managed these and many other problems very effectively, because they all seem to have gone on to win their wars, and sometimes you could tell they would not be in a hurry to return home, But how did they do it…?

The next, a Scottish, looks up and sees a big advert of McDonald's whisky, so quickly he tells the officer, I am J. McDonald.
Not to be outdone, the third guy, an Irish, looks around and sees a shop with the name "Kentucky Fried Chicken"....
1 AnswerJokes & Riddles1 decade agoIs anyone out there as LUCKY as I am?
I can’t help being labelled as “LUCKY” by various people, even when I was at school and now that I am working. Please someone explain to me if being lucky means, among other things,
1) Doing all your home work and studying very hard so that when you get top marks or come first in class, people can say how lucky you are to have won so many prizes
2) Getting up at 5am every morning and going to work 12 hours every day in underground mines so that when you are able to save a little money to buy yourself a vehicle or build yourself a nice house, people can point a finger and say how lucky you are …
3) Toiling away from home 24 hours/day 7 days/ week and not seeing your family sometimes for up to 6 months, all so that your children may have better education and a better life than you had...
Is that everyone’s understanding of being lucky?
7 AnswersMythology & Folklore1 decade agoThe Christian Bible talks about "The Word". What exactly is it?
In the Bible, it says that "In the beginning was "The Word", and "The Word" was with God, and "The Word" was God. or something to that effect. What exactly is meant by that?
Could it be that because we do not understand what "The Word" is, we are failing to appreciate the power of "The Word" even in our daily lives, from our unguarded utterances?

Whichever way you look at it, Evolution must have started from some point in time, space, or whatever…
This Starting Point, perhaps, is the basis of Religion…
I do not see any conflict at all, if God created something to start the evolution process..
The problem seems to be our current limited minds, perhaps….

Would it be possible to earn at least US$ 10,000 per month from such a project? How much capital would I need, how much land space? How many employees etc.? I am planning to set up something like that in Ghana in West Africa, but I need to ensure that I can at least earn what I am currently earning working for a mining company.
