Several applications (iTunes, Diskwarrior so far) will not launch, only appear for a few seconds then quit without giving any error messages. The Finder also quits sometimes without giving any error messages.

I have run ClamXav, no viruses found.

Any suggestions welcomed.

Some people I know think that UK judges are paid an unlimited amount of money. This is not true, the rates of pay are in the public domain. However I wondered if in the past (centuries ago) judges had been allowed to set their own pay. Does anyone if this is the case.

BT are trying to persuade me to move back to them, they claim I will be able to use my existing virgin.net address if I move to them. I was not aware that this was not done or even possible. I do not want to close my existing ISP account as I expect I would lose my existing email address. Does anyone know if it is possible to port email address from one ISP to another? Thanks

I answered a question recently and I have just had an email saying that the answer was in violation and was therefore deleted. Had my answer been particularly disgusting I would not have been surprised.

However I feel the answer I gave was quite innocent. Please let me know if you agree with Yahoo, or if you think the answer should not have been deleted.

I would also point out that I could not find the question in Yahoo Answers, has it been deleted? Can you find it?

I was using Firefox to watch youtube today, then I slected another video, all of a sudden the videos will not play. Error message says I should enable javascript and/or update to latest version of Adobe Flash Player.

Javascript was and is enabled and I upgraded to latest Flash Player. Still did not work. I uninstalled Flash Player and rebooted, repaired disk permissions and cleared cookies. Still not working.

Youtube videos work ok in Safari.

Macbook/10.4.11/Firefox 3.0.10/Safari 4

Any ideas how to make videos work in Firefox again?

I went to Demre last year to see the site of St Nicolas's burial and was amazed by the large number of Russians who made pilgrimage to the site. So much so that the usual language spoken by tourists guides and shops was not English but Russian. I am just curious to know if any one can enlighten me as to why Russian people have such a interest in St Nicolas.

I did a search for empty folders on my MacBook and found thousands of empty folders in User/Library/Preferences/Macromedia/Flash Player/#SharedObjects. If is running 10.4.11. Although they are not taking up any appreciable amount of space they do add to the number of folders the OS has to track, so can they be deleted without causing trouble?

Is it not just superstitious nonsense to have a patron saint? What do you think?

If I restart or shut down my MacBook it will either not actually restart or fail to shut down, the desktop closes and the machine seems to go to a quite state but will not reach the point where it restarts or shuts down. To restart or shut down I have to hold down the power button for a few seconds. It will start up again properly. It is running 10.4.1

I came across a video on youtube where it is claimed that as the speed of light has changed over time, then radio metric dating is unreliable as radio active decay is related to the speed of light. I had never heard of either of these conjectures before. So can anyone explain how the radio active decay is related to the speed of light.
