Is it fair that Husband pays all bills and wife saves her money?
Here is the situation. Wife and I are having marital problems. About a month ago she took half our savings without notice. I took the other half. So now she has her bank account and I have mine. We agreed that she will pay 35% and I pay 65% of bills. We split bills based on income percentage. She gave me a check beginning on July. However, in august she is not giving me anything. She says I am the husband and I should be paying for everything. I mentioned she is breaking on her agreement. Now I am stuck paying all the bills, and she saves her money into an account that has her name only. It would be one thing if I paid all the bills, but her money goes into a joint account. So now this is very disrespectful to me. Am I wrong to ask her to pay bills (gas, elec, tele, inter, mortgage) we share?
12 AnswersMarriage & Divorce7 years agoWhy does <% %> dont work in a js file?
I am trying to use an external js file instead of incorporating my javascript code inside m aspx file. When I go to use something like $find("<% %>") command, the script tags <% %> are not recognized as a script tag, but being viewed like text; neither do they get highlighted in visual studio. Any reason why?
2 AnswersProgramming & Design1 decade agoDid sidejob for friend... need opinion?
A friend called me up asking him if I can help with configuring a piece of computer equipment. I told him my hourly rate, which he agreed to. However, upon being there for two hours, it appears that there was something faulty with the new equipment and I could not complete the task. My question is, should I charge him for the time (2hours) I spent there? He mentioned that he will return the equipment and give me a call when the new piece of equipment arrives.
Should I charge the two hours?
Just so you know, my agreement with my friend is very informal. There are no signed contracts or anything like that. Should I only charge 1 hour to be fair?
2 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoLiving Revocable Trust and IRAs?
I just created a living revocable trust (LRT), and now I have to fund it. I was reading online that qualified retirement plans such as 401ks and Roths should not be in the trust, but rather, the beneficiaries should change to include the LRT. My question is, is there any benefit to gain by having my wife as a beneficiary on my 401K versus inheriting it via the trust, which upon my death, she would inherit anyway? My options are 1) should I put my wife as primary and the LVT as secondary as 401K beneficiaries, or just have the LVT as primary only, no secondaries.
1 AnswerPersonal Finance1 decade agoInstalling a horizontal air conditioner into a verticle window?
I have a vertical window in my bedroom and would like to install a horizontal window air conditoner. Verticle and portable a/cs are too expensive. Horizontal ones are more my price. The window does allow about 25" width space when it opens, so a horizontal a/c can fit. My question is... will shutting the window and holding the a/c on the sides, instead from the top, be enough to hold the a/c in place. Or are horizontal a/cs made in such a way that the window must shut on top of the a/c and hold it in place. Has anyone install a a/c in this configuration?
2 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoDoes it make sense to have both a HSA and FSA?
I have the option of enrolling in a high deductible health plan which offers a HSA. My company also offers the option of a FSA with other lower deductible health plans. I know the similarities and differences between a FSA and HSA. Does it make any sense to enroll in a FSA when I can get a HSA? Does it make any sense to have both?
3 AnswersInsurance1 decade agoSalary ranges at universities?
I applied for a job at a local university. The HR rep states that the position starts at 61,500 and max is 87,500. Does that mean the that the starting salary is not negotiable and this job starts at 61,500. I was under the impression that all jobs are negotiable. Is it different at universities or colleges?

3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoProfessionalism on job interviews?
Here is the situation and need some professional advice...
I am currently looking for a new job. A recruiter contacted me about a particular job, and sent me the job description. That job seemed exciting and I went on the interview at the company. Upon arriving at the company, there were some tell tail signs I didn't like. First, while I was waiting to be called in, my to-be boss met me, we shook hands, and she said "take a seat, and I will be right back." Needless to say she didn't come back and in, and in about 5 minutes later another person greeted me and walked me to the office where the interview took place. My to-be boss eventually met us in the office. Second, when the interview was finished, nobody walked me out. It was kinda like,"there is the door (about 90 feet away) and we will be in touch." Finally, on the job description, there is no mention of travel. However, I asked if there would be travel on this job. They mentioned that in a year from now, once things get settled, they may want me to go to other offices in the US (10% of the time).
Now I think some of the things they did were unprofessional, like not walking me out, or telling me to wait while another person gets me. The job description states no travel, but there would be. I do not want to travel, no matter how often it is. They want me back for a second interview. My question is... should I go on the second interview, even if I am not really enthused about the job? Someone once told me that I have nothing to lose. If I get an offer, I can turn it down, but always go on the interviews, if anything, for experience. Should I go on the second interview?
1 AnswerOther - Careers & Employment1 decade agoHow can I get into a programming position?
My career has been mostly on the hardware/networking side, however I do not get any satisfaction from supporting the network anymore. I find the job monotonous. A few years ago, I started to dabble into programming, teaching myself VB.NET. I have also learned ASP.NET. I want to transition my career from networking to programming.
How can I go about doing this? Any does anyone have any opinions as a programmer?
1 AnswerTechnology1 decade agoInstall Sink Stopper?
Need help installing sink stopper. It doesnt seem like the stopper goes high enough to drain the water in the sink. This is a new sink with a new vanity. I have an idea how to do it, but am a little confused about somethings.
The parts are the stopper, rod with ball, two washers (plastic and rubber)
First, which way does the stopper go down the drain. There is a hook in the stopper and I understand that the rod with ball needs to be inserted into the hook. However, does the stopper hook need to be near the front of the sink or closer to the back? Not sure which way to put the stopper.
There are washers involved. Which order do these get installed on the rod with ball. Is it rubber washer, ball, plastic washer and then the cap? What order?
3 AnswersDo It Yourself (DIY)1 decade agoSeparation Agreement.?
I just received a separation agreement from my employer. In that separation agreement, they agree to pay four weeks salary ($8000), payable as salary continuation (I got paid bi-weekly). However, I have already worked two days within the current payperiod. The exact wording is ... "<SCRUBBED> agrees to make payments to you in the total amount of $8000, minus applicable withholding. Such amount represents 4 weeks of your current base salary. These payments shall be made as salary continuation, the first payment to commence within 15 days of my receipt of this letter with your signature."
So my question is, am I entitled to get paid the two days I worked separate from the $8000, or is it correct that since the $8000 is considered as salary continuation, I would be getting paid the two days and some, effectively making the severance pay less than $8000.
1 AnswerLaw & Legal1 decade agoSeverance Pay Question?
My question is a bit complicated. I am a manager for the company I work for. My company has been recently acquired by another company, and, the CEO of my company has given retention bonuses (signed contracts) to some employees if they stay until June 2010. I was one who received a contract.
With any acquisiton, the acquiring company has laid off some managers in my company before the maturity date of the retention bonuses.
These are my questions: 1) Can the new company null the contract and not pay out the bonus if your position is eliminated? 2) If my position were to be eliminated, can the acquiring company give the retention bonus in lieu of severance pay? Or would they be forced to give both, severance pay and pay the retention bonus? 3) Can management change your title and force you to take a lesser paying position within the company, to avoid paying severance and the bonus?
What are my rights?

How do you get data from another website so it can be posted on your website. Do you write scripts that gets the data off the other website? Do you contact them to see if they have public webservices available? Do you contact management at the companies they will be getting the data from?
I am sure you have seen websites that consolidate data, such as Autotrader or PriceGrabber from other websites. What is the concept here? How do you go about doing something like this?
Any suggestions?

2 AnswersOther - United States1 decade agoWhere can I get old faucets?
I am trying to replace my faucet on my sink. The sink is an old sink where the water spicket comes out in the front of my sink. So I have 3 holds in the front of the sink. The hot and cold spickets come out of them. The spout is a small spout that is attached in the front and points down. I cant seem to find these faucets as many of them are attached on top of the sink, not in the front of it.
Does anyone know where I can get these faucets?
3 AnswersMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoBest Practice for setting up development network?
am looking for any ideas regarding how companies setup thier software development department. For example, do they allow the programmer to code on a corporate PC or is there usually a dedicated development machine? Do you use virtualization?
I came up with a couple of scenarios. 1) Have an additional computer for each programmer solely for development. Therefore thier corporate machine will remain unaffected by thier code and can be locked down by IT.
2) Use one PC (the corporate PC) and install VM Workstation on it. Have the programmer develop in the virtual machine.
3) Purchase a powerful server, run virtual machines on the box, and have each developer RDP into thier respective virtual machine.
There are definitely pros and cons to each. I am looking for comments or suggestions on what you have done.

2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoIs this a bad network design?
Is it bad network design to use the same network switches for two separate networks.
For example... I am currently in the process of migrating from one IP scheme to another. The old subnet is 192.168.11.x, the new is 172.17.1.x. Some computers are on the old and some on the new subnets. Both networks are connected to the same switches. If a computer needs to connect with another computer on the same subnet, the switch directs traffic to the computer without going through a router. However, when one computer needs to communicate with the other computer on another subnet, but physically connected to the same switch, I am assuming the traffic then goes through the router and back down to the same switch.
Is this bad network design, or should each network on each side of the router have its own switches for computers to connect to.
