  • How do I replace the drive pulley on a Murray lawn tractor?

I have a Murray lawn tractor, model 42514x8A.The belt kept motion drive belt slipping off the front stack pulley, which was replaced easily enough, but then it started coming off the drive pulley itself in the rear of the tractor.

After removing the battery I notice that much of the top 'lip' of the pulley was gone and I think that was why the belt was coming off.

My line of thought is to replace both the belt and the pulley.

I've found directions that show the steps in replacing the belt, but can find nothing on replacing the pulley itself.

Can anyone shed a little light on this for me? And and all help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • Can metal wall studs be used as runners for the floor?

My basement just flooded with well over an inch of water. Despite having a sub-floor of 2 x 4's and a plywood sheath, it still soaked through into the carpet and I am now tearing it all up. The studs are soaked.

The thought crossed my mind to use metal studs, so that if this happens again I won't have to worry about mold and rot.

Can metal studs be used as runners over the floor? If so, is there a waterproof material I can put over the studs so I don't ever have to worry about this again?

  • Calculation of divorced parent's income re: college financing?

I am divorced with three children. Next year the eldest will be heading off to college. How, if at all, is the income of the non-custodial parent figured into needs formulas for college financial aid/loans/grants?

  • Have to use New York state court forms or agreement done by mediator?

My wife and I separated and are now looking to make the divorce final. We amicably went through a mediator to create a separation agreement because the forms provided by the court systems were very adversarial and did not cover many of the areas we needed.

Now that we want to make this permanent it appears that our original mediator is no longer available/in business.

Can we simply file the original agreement for the divorce process or must we use the court forms?

    Any guidance would be appreciated.

  • 5 cards, pay min + fin chg on each each month. Continue that or apply amt of all fin chgs to one card?

I've got 33k in credit card debt spread out over five cards of varying interest rates with balances between 4500 and 11,500. Each month I pay the minimum plus the finance charge on each card. Am I better off continuing this practice or taking the accumulated finance charge of all cards and applying it to one card to pay that one down faster?

My concern is that while paying down one card the others will accumulate at an insane rate and leave me worse off in the long run.

  • I sold something on ebay and am being sent a money order. How can I be sure it is valid? Will it bounce?

The person emailed and said they are sending an "international" money order. Are money orders treated like checks that they might "bounce" and I'll end up being charged? How do I make sure it is real and will be honored?

  • Does New York state have a payment plan option for taxes due?

Because of the sale of a rental property I owe $7700. Put this on top of the 19,000 I owe the Feds and my cash ran out a long time ago. I know that I can make arrangements for a payment plan with the Feds but what about New York state?
