  • Why is crossdressing taboo?

I'm just very curious as to what exactly the problem is. Many people crossdress, some do it extremely well. Some men just look better in women's clothing, or ambiguous clothing, or unisex clothing. As another counterpoint, many women can wear mens' clothing without having ANY negative ramifications or even the smallest of folkways. Why the one-way-street? Why is crossdressing taboo in the first place?

  • What instruments were used in Rusted Root's "Send Me On My Way"?

I can't find it anywhere, and it's driving me insane. I want to learn one of the various wind instruments, because I've been looking for one to pick up and their instrumentation was fantastic.

  • I'm SO confused....?

    Well, here's my situation.

I'm 17 years old, gay, and really enjoy being as girly and femmy as possible. One day, one of my friends suggested that maybe I was transgender instead of gay. I mean, two years ago, that would have seemed ludicrous, but so did the idea of me being gay. Also, it seems to fit...

And this is what I mean by that:

-I jump at the chance to crossdress...it's just more comfortable for me, for some reason.

-I own panties and thongs; they're just a lot more comfortable to wear, for me, than boxers.

-I shave my face, legs and privates, paint my toenails, and like my hair to be of decent length.

-Almost ALL of my friends are women, and it's fun, to me, to be involved with many of our more "interesting" convos; I mean, I've even attended sleepovers before and the like.

However, the more I think about it, the more worried I am about how my family would react; my friends all said they wouldn't care. I also worry because I plan on an acting major. Any advice?

  • Please help me with what these coordinates might mean?

These coordinates came with a hint.

    At the end, we begin.

    N:E 22 8 11 2 15 26 24 12 11 26

I'm sure that at least part of them is a set of coordinates. I'm not sure, though. Maybe

    North 22 degrees, 8 minutes, 11 seconds

    East 2 degrees, 15 minutes, 26 seconds?

    And then just numbers...24, 12, 11, 26.

When I just plugged that string into a GPS converter, it brought up a spot in Algeria....could it be an elephant graveyard? I'm lost on ideas other than what I've given you. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Does anyone know a good way to start learning Japanese vocabulary?

Okay, so I've finally decided to get off my lazy Shinto *** and start learning how to speak and write Japanese properly. My plan is this:

    1.) Learn Hiragana (underway)

    2.) Learn Kanji

3.) Learn the methods and rituals behind writing sutras and seals

    4.) Make my first sutra.

But before I can move on to Kanji, I need to learn japanese vocabulary, beginning with the basics. Any tips on how to go about that? Should I just buy a Japanese-English dictionary? Anyone willing to help this linguist to learn the native tongue of his religion?

    ...Pretty please? :(

Just curious. If you know of any, or come across any, post 'em here. Thanks.

  • Ok, WHY does everyone translate Japanese words incorrectly? <.<;?

Here's the thing; I'm going to give you two examples, and you're going to tell me why people screw up.

1.) kitsune is NOT fox DEMON! KITSUNE are fox MESSENGERS to the God/goddess INARI! WE SERVE HIM! Granted, some don't. But WE ARE NOT DEMONS.

2.) A Tanuki isn't a simple raccoon. NOR is it a WEASEL! (How do you get those two things confused? <.<;) A tanuki is simply a raccoon-dog. Nothing else works in describing it, so stop already!!!

3.) (This rarely happens, but occasionally...) Kami. Is. Not. Synonymous. To. Demon. It's closer to GOD THAN IT IS DEMON! <.<; It's really offensive to be asked what gods I pray to, say Inari-kami-sama (I occasionally throw the kami in) and have someone ask why I pray to a DEMON! =.= So please enlighten me as to why these mixups occur. Thanks.

  • Okay. AT the expense of 5 points, why do you preach tolerance when you say your religion is the right one?

Granted, I know you believe within your religion that it's the only one that is true, but come on. Posting everywhere that your religion is better than the rest and is the only right choice, or even going so far as to boil my blood by saying all religions mirror yours, is the exact opposite of tolerance; it's discrimination. So please, justify your actions, whatever religion you are, if you believe it is the only right one out there.
