  • Success with Oxybutynin?

I have been prescribed this drug by my consultant, but at a dose of 10mg three times a day. I've heard the side effects can be bad, and I'm worried about starting this drug because I'm fairly certain the bad effects will outweigh the good, especially at such a huge dose. Does anyone have any experience of taking this drug at such a high dose?

  • Can anyone tell me what a Moon Spoon is?

My fiance and I received an engagement gift from a friend through the post yesterday - the problem is, we're not sure exactly what it is!! It's like a little flat edged butterknife with a little moon carved in the handle, made out of cherry wood.

It has a label attached that says "Moon Spoon, Handmade in the USA" and "handwash, and oil as needed". It's not actually spoon shaped so it couldn't be used as one, and the "blade" of the knife isn't sharp enough to cut anything.

I'm thinking it's maybe meant to be some sort of lucky charm to mark our engagement but I'm not sure - I don't want to insult our friend by calling up and saying "it's lovely, but what is it?!"

Can anyone help us out here?

  • Roman Catholic Wedding Ceremony?

Can anyone give me a brief rundown of what an RC wedding ceremony will comprise of? My Fiance was baptised as a baby and was raised as a Catholic. I am in the process of conversion and expect to be baptised next Easter. I just wondered if anyone can explain the basic elements of the ceremony.

    Thank you.

  • Unwanted cosmetic products/toiletries?

Does anyone know of anywhere that you can donate unused toiletries such as soap, bubble bath, shampoo etc (in the UK)? I am clearing out before a move and have loads of this sort of thing that has been given as birthday or christmas presents. Is there anywhere I can donate this stuff so it isn't wasted? I have given some stuff away for charity raffles etc but I can't do this with smaller items.

Sensible suggestions please. Thanks for your help :)

  • Johnny Rotten says Coldplay is boring - is he right?

The Sex Pistols frontman Johnny Rottensays he feels sorry for fans who pay to see Coldplay perform live.

"There is no fun, they don't offer joy. Their music has a couple of quite nice tones here and there but it's a box of tosh sold to slightly inadequate, half-baked people."

Personally I couldn't care less what he thinks, sounds to me like he's got nothing better to do - but I love Coldplay and take umbridge to someone like this idiot suggesting Im inadequate simply because of what I choose to listen to!!

  • So-called online friend?

I have a female "friend" that I met online a few years ago. We've chatted online and kept up-to-date with each other, sent Christmas cards etc, exchanged mobile numbers and have sent text messages - though she has never wanted to talk on the phone. I thought this a little bit odd, but never really worried about it.

At the beginning of this year, my whole life has changed - I'm planning a move to be with my bf and for the first time in a very long time I'm happy. My "friend" has completely changed in personality since this happened - she's become rather nasty in her attitude about everything. I haven't changed towards her at all, but she has all but said she's fed up of hearing good news from me!

My question is this - I no longer want to continue this friendship, she's become the type of person I can't be friends with. Is it better just to stop talking to her online, or to send an email explaining (in a non-aggressive manner) why I feel I can't remain her friend?

  • Experiences with the Co-operative Insurance Society (CIS)?

I'm interested to hear what experiences people have had with CIS, especially for car insurance.

My partner recently wrote off his car and, on top of the hassle of the accident, has had nothing but continual problems with CIS - from files and paperwork going missing, to misinformation given to the police, to (believe it or not) the garage actually losing track of the car wreckage and the keys for it. One month on from the accident, and we're no further forward.

I just wondered if anyone else had had a similar experience, or are we just unbelievably unlucky?!

  • Ken Livingstone - does it matter?

Is anyone particularly bothered by the news that Ken Livingstone (Mayor of London) has five kids by three different women?

In this day and age it's hardly an unusual situation. Does it affect his political ability (or inability, as I'm sure many will be thinking)?

  • What's making you happy today?

For me it's a really nice Spring day, birds singing outside the office window, and the knowledge that it is midway through the week and it wont be long until the weekend when I'll see my boyfriend :)

  • A question for those with experience of chronic progressive illnesses?

I'm talking about long-term, incurable illnesses like Multiple Sclerosis, MND etc.

I've suffered with a neurological illness for around 10 years. Generally I'm very fortunate to have had more good phases than bad, but at the moment I appear to be hitting a rather severe bad patch.

My question is this - am I wrong to "play down" my symptoms and the severity of my illness for the sake of my partner who I met last year?

Don't get me wrong, he has been brilliant about it and has all the facts but I hate worrying him more than is strictly necessary. He on the other hand, says that he wants to know exactly how things are because "forewarned is forearmed".

Has anyone been in this situation (either as the patient, or as someone close to the patient)? And do you have any advice on what to do for the best?

  • What have they done with all the Easter Eggs?!?

I was in Tesco yesterday, looking to buy Easter eggs. I really didn't think this would be a problem, given it was only the Wednesday before Easter weekend - but I was completely gobsmacked to see that the range had been severely curtailed to make way for (wait for it) barbeque equipment!?

Here in Scotland we are lucky to get weather good enough in July for a barbeque, let alone in March! Thinking this might be isolated to one shop I also tried other supermarkets to find the same thing - a severely curtailed range of eggs in comparison to just after Valentine's Day, when there were dozens to choose from.

Has the world gone mad?! Are we supposed to start preparing for things like Easter weekend in December?! Should I look out my bikini in preparation for summer?!

(PS Anyone have any ideas where I can find some nice Easter eggs for my friend's children now, seeing as Tesco have decided it's time to move on!?)

  • Organ Donation - what's wrong with an opt-out scheme?!?

I do not understand why people are so against a system of presumed consent to overcome organ donation shortage.

It's not like people would have no option but to participate - if you aren't happy about your organs being used to help others after death, make the effort and ensure you opt out, it's as simple as that.

The fact is that there is a desperate shortage of life-saving donations. If this is how we save lives, then so be it, in my opinion.

Looking for some logical reasons as to why an opt-out scheme shouldn't be implemented?

  • Looking for some inspired gift ideas for my Nan's Birthday?

    She's 78 today.

Chocolate and confectionary is out (she is a diabetic) and has more toiletries, perfume etc than she will ever need - anyone got any unusual/quirky ideas for what I could buy her?

Ordinarily I'd be better organised but this year I've found it really hard to hit on what I could get her.

    Sensible answers only, thanks.

  • Undergraduate courses for Mature Students (UK)?

I'm 30 this year and Im seriously considering doing a BSc in Psychology, hopefully at a Scottish university - I'd be leaving full time employment and a rented house to do this, so it's a kind of a once in a lifetime thing. I have three good Highers which I'm hoping will get me onto this course.

Has anyone else done something similar? How did it work out for you? And any advice on things I should be considering right now (besides the obvious financial implications etc.)?

  • Anyone else get edgy when it starts to snow heavily?

I hate this time of year - it's just started snowing heavily where I am and it makes me feel anxious, though I'm not normally bothered by things I can do nothing about, such as the weather.

Anyone else feel like this? And how do you deal with it?

  • Selection of people suitable to be adoptive parents (UK)?

Can anyone tell me the basic criteria for becoming an adoptive parent in the UK? By which I mean, can anyone tell me if there are rules that mean you can't adopt if you have a health condition, do not own your own home or have a certain income?

Any links to helpful websites would also be good. Thanks.

  • What reasons are there for NOT donating your organs after your death?

I may well be shot down in flames for this - but I think it is hugely selfish to deny anyone the right to an improved life by refusing the right for your organs to be used after your death.

I have carried a donor card for years. I agree it is an unfair burden to place on loved ones who are in shock/grieving just after a loved ones death, and therefore I agree 100% with the recent suggestion, backed by Gordon Brown, that it should be the individual's responsibility to opt out of organ donation if you feel strongly enough about it.

I'm just interested in other perspectives here - I just can't understand why anyone would choose not to help someone by donating organs after death.

  • How soon is too soon to say "I love you"?

How soon did you tell the person you are currently in love with with, that you loved them? Do you think that it is ever too soon if that's how you feel? Ever had a bad experience after telling someone you lovged them?

(I'm writing a novel, looking for perspectives on this).

  • Symptoms of dehydration?

Just recently, I'm aware I haven't been drinking enough fluids, but for various reasons I'm finding it difficult - can anyone tell me what the likely long-term health implications are?

Also there has recently been a downturn in a chronic health condition I suffer, mainly muscle cramps and weakness in the legs. Is this likely to be related to the fluid situation?

Genuine answers only please, it's a serious situation and to be frank - I'm not interested in so-called humour and/or sarcasm at the moment. Thanks.
