What does it take for one to become a diplomat?
What type of formal education is necessary and does one's undergrad degree necessarily matter? (Most people I know with an interest in the subject are pursuing a degree in International Relations, but is that a requirement?)
Thanks in advance!
3 AnswersGovernment1 decade agoWhich credit card is best for a college student going abroad?
I'll be studying abroad in Australia this spring semester and I need a credit card for emergencies and to buy my plane ticket soon. Since I get a lot of financial aid/scholarships, my university will give me back whatever money's leftover after all the necessary credits have been applied and I will be able to pay off the credit card in full. I've never had a credit card before, but everyone I know who's been abroad and even my study abroad adviser have highly recommended that I get one, so I'm not really sure what to look for in a credit card.
Any suggestions/recommendations will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

3 AnswersStudying Abroad1 decade agoWhat car rental company should I pick?
It's my first time renting a car and I'm not very familiar with all these rental companies. I was going to go with Enterprise, but I read online that they're not very reliable.
The rental will be for 1 day and it will be a round-trip.

4 AnswersOther - Cars & Transportation1 decade agoCan sweet potatoes become toxic?
I've got some sweet potatoes that I bought about 3 weeks ago and that I'd like to use. However, I'm not sure if they're still safe. They look fine (almost like "new").
Should I use them?
Thanks in advance. :)

4 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoHow can I make my life more exciting? (Please read)?
I'm a sophomore in college and, honestly, there isn't much going on in my life besides school and work - and it's been this way since I was 15 (when I moved to the US and left my more fun-filled, interesting life behind in my home country - Cape Verde). I started working when I was 16 and haven't stopped since. All I do is study and work, and, although I've been pretty successful in both areas, I'm bored! I want to do something fun and exciting, but I can't seem to break out of my usual cycle of work-school-homework-no fun! I don't have any real friends, as I find it hard to relate to most other college students, whose interests include partying, getting wasted/high, and hooking up. Besides school and work my life is pretty uneventful and I want to change that! I want to make the most out of life.
Can you please give me some suggestions (preferably something that does not involve money)?
Thanks in advance :)
10 AnswersOther - Society & Culture1 decade agoAre Burt's Bees hair care products any good?
I recently cut my hair really short (a boy-cut?). I have really fine, curly hair, but when left unattended, it becomes a nightmare (which partially prompted me to cut it). I don't want my hair to become too dependent on chemically-based hair products and I'm trying to "get it right" this time around. Last time I cut my hair to a similar length_about 4 years ago_I used a lot of products to "tame" the curls, but now I love my curls and want to make the best out of them; even though my hair grew extremely long, it became overly-dependent on those products.
I heard that natural hair products, such as Burt's Bees' products, are the best way to go? Any feedbacks on Burt's products? What about other natural hair care lines?
Thanks in advance :)
2 AnswersHair1 decade agois it true that you can only download music into iPods from one computer?
I want to get an iPod but I'm not sure it'll be worth it. I'm not into the whole iPod craze and people's obsessions with them get under my skin! However, I do love listening to music and am considering getting an mp3 player. I once heard someone say that you can't download music into an iPod from just any computer. Is this true? I'm a college student and reside on campus; I don't own a laptop and I’m not planning on getting one any time soon, and my pc is back at home (I only go home for long breaks since it’s is too far from campus) so if I do get an iPod and need to download music it'll have to be from a different computer each time. What would you recommend?
Thanks in advance :)
2 AnswersMusic & Music Players1 decade agoI want to become a vegetarian...where/how do I start?
I'm so sick and tired of eating meat, not only because of the inhumane way the animals are kept and treated, but also because of the potential health risks of consuming these animals. However, there are more vegetables out there that I don't like than that I like. How should I start? Also, where can I get the essential nutrients that I would otherwise get from eating meat?
Thanks in advance :)
5 AnswersVegetarian & Vegan1 decade agoWhat's the best and most reliable cellphone carrier?
I want to get a wireless plan (my first) but I'm not sure which phone company to choose! I'm not really into all the extra stuff...all I need is a simple and basic plan that won't cost me a lot.
Thanks in advance :)
10 AnswersCell Phones & Plans1 decade agoHow can I find a summer job?
I'm a college freshman and I've been working at the same place since I was 16. However, since I had to move out of state for school, I had to temporarily give up my position (the manager told me that I could work there during school breaks). I worked there when I went home for Christmas, but now there's a new management team and, since they don't know me, they can't let me work there just like that! Also, because I'd only be able to stay there for less than a month (I'm going overseas for the remainder of the summer)! And that's the real reason I need a job; so that I can make some money to buy some clothes, and to have some pocket money. I would ask my parents for money, but they're already financing the trip.
Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do without having to make a commitment?! I've considered babysitting (I used to take care of my two younger siblings when they were younger) but I don't have any references.
2 AnswersCareers & Employment1 decade agoHow does ING Direct work?
I'm currently a college freshman and have a part-time job on campus. I work about 12-13 hours a week and it pays pretty well. However, since I don't need more than $15-$20 dollars a week most weeks to get by, I want to start saving some money so that when I graduate I can pay off my student loan. I just heard about ING Direct today and was wondering how it really works and if it's a good idea! Also, I'd like to know if it's safe!
Thanks in advance :-)
9 AnswersPersonal Finance1 decade agoHow can I overcome my fear of medicine?
I am scared to take any type of medication, especially pills because I'm afraid I might choke on one! But the main reason I'm so adverse to medication is that I'm afraid I might eat something or take another medicine that will cause a fatal combination! No matter how sick I may be, I'd rather let it go away on its own than take medication for it! And, honestly, I don't remember the last time I was on meds. I'm in college right now and at times I get a bad cold or just really stressed out, and instead of going to the health center, I wait for whatever's ailing me to go away because I'm afraid that if I do go, they'll give me a prescription!
Am I just being delirious or are fatal combinations common? Do you think I need professional help to get over my phobia?
Thanks in advance!

4 AnswersOther - Education1 decade agoMy hair is falling off by the chunks! Please help me!!!!!?
I have long (half way down my back), curly hair & lately it's been falling off by the chunks. I've never colored it & it's been about 4 years since the last time I used a chemical on it. As a college student, I don't have much time to devote to it. I wash it on the weekends & during the week I style it into a ponytail or a bun with water & conditioner. By the time the weekend gets here, it is such a tangled mess that it takes me over 1 one hour in the shower to just wash my hair! & masses of it come off! Before, it was full and lustrous, but now it's very dull & weak! It doesn't even look as curly as it used to be anymore! I've tried Pantene, Tresemme, Infusium 23, Fructis, & others, and none of them has worked. I'm currently using Herbal Essences because it's the only one that's done a little good!
I don't want to lose my hair & I don't know what else to do to keep it from falling off!
Do you have any suggestions?! I'm getting desperate!
Thanks!
15 AnswersHair1 decade agoWhat's the name of this song and who sings it?
It's sung by a man and a woman and it goes something like this:
We can do this thing together
Sing this song forever (?)
Nothing's gonna stop us now
And if this world runs out of lovers
We'll still have each other
Nothing's gonna stope us now

7 AnswersMusic1 decade agoWhat are some good erotic literature titles?
I enjoy reading and I tend to lean towards memoirs, magical realism, fantasy, chick lit, and foreign novels. Lately, however, I've been wanting to change the scene a little! Someone recommended erotica, but I've never read one and don't really know any titles or authors of erotic fiction! I looked at my university’s bookstore but (not surprisingly enough) I didn't find anything!
Any suggestions?
Thanks :-)
