Has Anyone Here Been Bitten By A Brown Recluse Spider?
Today in the online news section, there was an article about the brown recluse spider and how it is spreading throughout the US. I have seen some of the pictures online of people's result of being bitten by one of these critters and some of the images I've seen are horrific. Major tissue damage (flesh eating bacteria) even after treatment, surgery, amputations of limbs and other nasty outcomes.
Apparently, being bitten by a brown recluse can be much worse than a black widow bite. There is antivenin for the black widow, latrodectus anti-venom, pain meds, rest, etc. Not sure about brown recluse treatment. Of course the severity and outcome of treatment for a brown recluse bite varies depending on the patient.
So if someone here has been been bitten by a brown recluse spider, what state where you live were you bitten, what was the treatment and what were any complications? Some doctors use nitro glycerin patches to treat possible tissue damage for the bite area.
Thanks for your response.
4 AnswersAlternative Medicine9 years agoHow Can You Get Bonded To Start a Home Based Computer Business?
I have learned how to fix and repair Mac computers for friends, specializing in laptops and am researching if I want to set up a home based business. But I don't know much about starting a business and especially getting business bonding and liability insurance and what the costs would be and what they cover. Should a home business be incorporated.
For instance, if a client wanted me to install a new hard drive and the computer booted up fine after the work for the client and then they call in a week and report that their computer is totally dead. It could be a faulty hard drive that just died or it could be that the power supply just happened to die. Whatever, but how could you protect yourself from fault or liability from a lawsuit if the client blamed the repairman? Would a bond or insurance protect a home based business for this?
Thanks for any help and advice.
2 AnswersSmall Business9 years agoDo you have to obtain a passport to take a cruise to Ensenada, MX from Los Angeles?
I am asking this question about having to apply for a passport for any 2-4 day cruise from Los Angeles that routes to Ensenada or any other Baja destination, because some people say you do need one, others say you don't. What about visiting Canada, are US passports necessary for entry into Canada?
BTW, a first time passport fee averages $125.00 plus additional fees, taxes that could apply. Are there any senior discounts, AAA, etc.? Thanks for any links and help,
5 AnswersCruise Travel10 years agoWhere could I learn authentic Indian and Thai cooking lessons/classes in Los Angeles?
I love to cook for myself and friends, plus a variety of my own recipes and modified ones I have learned by watching shows on the cooking channels, Iron Chef, Chef Paul, Emeril, etc. But my attempts to cooking some of my favorite ethnic Thai and Indian cooking dishes have been failures. Fine Indian Tandoori chicken and Thai cashew shrimp are the first recipes I want to master. Does anyone have any leads where in Los Angeles these cuisines are taught? Thanks for any help.
3 AnswersEthnic Cuisine10 years agoWhy is most contemporary praise, gospel and worship music played in flat keys, mainly Db, Ab, and Eb?
I have watched many gospel and worship keyboard lessons and the most common and standard tunes are usually played in more difficult flat keys, Db, Ab, Gb, Eb, etc. for piano and organ, rather than easier keys like C, F and G. Most guitar players like to play in open sharp keys like E, A, D and B.
This seems to be the norm and is common throughout various churches, concerts and worship services. If anyone here is a pianist or keyboardist in a church, can you let us know. Thanks.
4 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoWhat Are Some Recommendations For The Best Portable Video Cameras?
I would like to get some recommendations of the best portable and less expensive video/audio recorders for mainly making online type videos and tutorials. The camera could use SD cards for data storage, USB jump drives, etc. Also the audio quality is very important, so the ability to use an external microphone that can be plugged into the camera's audio port would be a plus.
There are so many products on the market now, it is a bit overwhelming. Thanks for any help and links.

Laptops & Notebooks1 decade agoGoing Into Snake Country, What Protection Needed?
I am headed into a desert region in So California to photograph rattlesnakes, especially the Mojave species if I can find them. I have some very thick leather black cowboy boots that are very well made and cover the lower leg just under the knee.
Are these boots the right type of protection I would need in snake country? Can a large rattler bite through thick leather cowboy boots if you get close enough to one?
Most people bitten by poisonous snakes are struck on their hands and feet or ankle area. They will surprise a snake, step on one, or put their hand in a pile of wood and end up get bitten by a hidden snake.
Since I will not be handling or picking up any deadly serpents, only photographing them, are boots the best protection? Thanks.

Hi. I would like to get a recommendation from anyone who knows something about portable digital video cams that mainly would be used to shoot tutorials and youtube videos. HD would be a plus, internal memory, USB, FireWire, headphone and external microphone ports. Is there anything decent in the $200 range that would be good enough quality for the type of videos I want to make? Thanks for any advice.

1 AnswerMaintenance & Repairs1 decade agoAdult Beginner Violin Student, Which Kind To Buy?
I have the desire to see if I can learn to play the violin as an adult beginner. I'm sure someone here is a violin student from beginner to pros who make their living playing the instrument in orchestras, bands, etc. I have seen violin basics on youtube and there are online violin lessons to check out.
But I don't have a clue on what kind of violin to buy, factory or handmade, brand names, Yamaha, etc. I also don't know how to judge quality related to cost. I would probably want a "package deal" violin, bow, attachments, case, etc.
How do you decide what violin you need when I have never held or messed around with one and what to look for. Is it possible to buy a new or used violin that hopefully is not a struggle to learn on and has a decent tone. Are there online dealers worth looking at?
I play piano/keyboard professionally so I have an experienced musical background and know all the major, minor and modal scales in all 12 keys, can read music in G/Bass clef, etc.
What books, videos, online courses do you guys recommend? Thanks for any help to lead me in the right direction. I personally don't know and violin students
4 AnswersOther - Music1 decade agoWhere Or How Can You Find Value of Items To Offer Pawn Shops For Cash Loans?
I am interested in how to estimate the value of items such as musical instruments, PA Systems, keyboards, amplifiers, gold class rings, etc.
Are there any online links to get estimates of various items of value on how much a pawn broker would offer cash loans? Thanks for any advice.
4 AnswersOther - Business & Finance1 decade agoHow Can I Make Videos on MacBook For Youtube?
MacBook owners, I want to make some live video piano lessons using my MacBook, QuickTime Pro, GarageBand, etc. to post on youtube. I have a mixer, pro quality microphone, keyboard. But when I try to record a new movie in QT Pro, I get the video fine with the laptops built-in iSight camera, but no audio signal. In preferences, the MacBooks internal mike picks up fine, but when I change the preference to Line-In under recording, I get no signal audio.
Basically what I want to do is: play my keyboard in GarageBand in real time and have the audio and video recorded at the same time, save it and then export and compress the footage so I can post it on youtube.
Does anyone have some tips on how I can do this or link me to some step by step tutorials?
Thank you for any help.
YouTube1 decade agoWhere are the Most Authentic italian Restaurants in Los Angeles?
We haven't found any Italian food restaurants yet in Los Angeles, with the exception of Farfalla Trattoria that aren't "watered down" Italian. We favor more Northern Italian cuisine. If you have Italian blood, I think you know what I mean by real authentic Italian food like what you would find in NYC or Boston. There has to a restaurant in LA yet to be discovered by us where we can get a great real Italian dinner, right?

1 AnswerOther - Electronics1 decade agoToday They Announced Some Baseball Pitchers Hit The Batter With Intension
It was reported today as one of pro baseballs little told secrets, that pro baseball pitchers will pitch the ball to the batter and purposely attempt to hit the batter to keep them on their toes or for some kind on revenge. And if the batter is clobbered by the ball we usually see him throw the bat aside and run towards the pitcher and pummel him with his fists until the umpire can break up the brawl.
I have one question though. Has any pro pitcher ever killed a batter in doing so? Anyone have an answer to this inquiry?
