What plants don't vine weevils munch?
I have them in a new garden, I know young plants are to their liking, and I can find lots of mention of the plants they do eat, but want to grow what they won't touch/don't like. I only grow ornamentals not edibles, but was wondering if anyone had experience with these things. Do they eat bulbs? I don't want to use insecticide and have too large a garden to contemplate nematodes. My soil is not particularly friable - gritty limestone lies just under the surface.
Thanks
Thanks for your help.

1 AnswerTVs8 years agoHow do I find the PR code for VW Polo brake shoes?
If I give the supplier my reg no, make and model, engine size and engine code (from the handbook) its not enough info to get the exact part number, there seems to be 5 different sets of brake pads/shoes for this engine. Is there any way of finding out the PR code (or part code) without taking the parts off the car?

6 AnswersLaptops & Notebooks1 decade agoMy incoming emails aren't from who they say they are from.?
I noticed today that if I click on a new incoming e-mail, I actually open a message that I have previously deleted. Anyone else had this problem? Anything I can do about it. How do I inform Yahoo?
If I look in the trash file the deleted ones are there, but if I click on an incoming e-mail then it opens a deleted one instead of its replacement new one.
1 AnswerOther - Yahoo Mail1 decade agoBT710 DECT phone not working.?
Hi, just bought a BT 710, charged it and plugged it in. Everything seems OK, but if someone rings me the handset goes blank and the base set keeps ringing. I don't even get a chance to press the green button. Same thing happens on or off the base set. I can dial out OK without any problem.
Am I doing something wrong, just asking before I wrap it up and send it back.
thanks, any help appreciated

3 AnswersOther - Yahoo Mail1 decade agoHow often can i feed frozen fish food to cold water fish?
I have 2 fantails and every time I feed dried food (various) they have bouyancy problems a couple of hours later. Frozen food is alot better but suspect its too rich to feed daily - am I right or will it be ok.
Even the dried food specially made for fancy goldfish causes them problems.
4 AnswersFish1 decade agoTree identification Bedford Park, Bedford, UK?
Walking the park in Bedford came across large trees with leaves similar to Ash or Walnut but with long catkins. Anybody know what they are. The bark is attractive with shallow irregular fissures. Trees are spreading. There are a number of them in the park planted as single specimens.
3 AnswersBotany1 decade agoBattery operated gravel cleaner problem?
Hi
Just bought a battery operated gravel cleaner that has a mesh bag so it can be used without a partial water change. Used it tonight and the gunk that comes out of the gravel is really fine, so it goes into the bag then back into the aquarium, I rinsed the bag when I was done and got left with a few small bits of gravel and clean rinsing water. Cleaner is an Aquavac Superfish. I previously used a siphon gravel cleaner but it was no where near as powerful as this one. Does all this stirred up muck cause problems to fish (two fantail goldfish).
Thanks for help
6 AnswersFish1 decade agofantails float after water change?
I add water conditioner (stresscoat), balance temperatures, change 20% only, siphon and hoover gravel at same time. 15 mins after completion the two fantails are on their sides floating at top. After a couple of hours they recover, and stay fine until the next change - has happened two or three times now, but not every time - anyone any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong.
In their small old tank they were fine with water changes every 3-4 days, in the new large tank they are not. Have tested water and things seem fine - nitrite and ammonia are zero. Nitrate is 20. PH is high - but this is a hard water area so it always is. Tank is a juwel 70. Has been set up 6 weeks - cycled first. - fishless. Fish are still young - bought when very small in early May. They are the only occupants in this tank.
Incidentally I also have a tropical tank - 60L biorb and have no problems when doing water changes on that - that has been set up since March.
Any help would be appreciated - thanks

3 AnswersMilitary1 decade agowhat does a venturi device do and how does it work?
Just set up a juwel aquarium for fancy goldfish. Want to aerate the tank but cant find any information on what the venturi device actually does. Will it alter the flow to a level appropriate for poor swimmers, or do i need something else to do that. Fish haven't been added yet.
thanks for any help/advice
2 AnswersFish1 decade agoWhat's this bug thing in my aquarium?
I am new to tropical fish keeping, have just cleaned out the (freshwater) aquarium and there is a bug in the bottom. It looks like its aquatic rather than something that fell in by accident. Its about 1.5cm long, dark brown with a squarish head and shrimplike legs. Anjy idea where it might have come from, is it a goody or a baddy and what do I do with it now. I took it out and its in a jug with the gunk from the filter, it looks like it squirts the tank gunk from it rear end.
The tank has been up and running with plants and fish for about 8 weeks.
Thanks for any advice/help.
4 AnswersFish1 decade agoSmall tropical fish for hard water?
recently set up small tank, tested water parameters but KH and GH are high, PH is around 7-7.5. Don't want cold water fish, are there any small tropicals that will tolerate this. Have 3 mollies already (all male), don't want anything that will breed prolofically bacause of lack of space. Thanks for help.

4 AnswersFish1 decade agoStocking a 60 litre (15 gallon) biorb tank?
OK, I know they won't hold a lot. I plan to have lots of silk plants and use it as a (light) feature for the room, but it seems a waste not to have anything living in it. What fish would do best?
10 cardinal tetras OR
10 harlequin rasboras OR
5 balloon mollies OR
1 siamese fighter OR
6 lemon tetras OR
3 tiger barbs OR
3 rosy barbs (unheated tank)
I like the idea of a single species in a tank - would they be OK on their own and have I got the numbers about right or not.
How long does the light need to be on for to benefit the fish?
Thanks in advance
8 AnswersFish1 decade ago60 litre biorb - coldwater or tropical?
I have been given the biorb, I have 8 years experience of keeping large goldfish but no tropical. Apart from setting up, is there a difference in maintenance - how low is 'low maintenance' for a biorb. How often will I need to clean the biorb - are tropical fish less messy than goldfish (which I recall were very messy)? Are any other coldwater fish less messy than goldfish. Lots of questions I know, sorry but I really need help here and its a fair drive to an expert.
