I've a missprinted british tax disc.?
Hi Everyone,
I have what I think is a very rare item. Of all the years I've been driving, I've never ever seen or heard of a british tax disc with a misprint. I believe that when a car owner purchases a tax disc, it always expires on the last day of the month. However, this year the DVLC sent me a tax disc that was printed with the expiry date of the 30th of March. Possibly the only tax disc in the country or even the world that has the date 30th of March printed on it. A week or so later, the DVLC appologised and issued me with a replacement with the correct date of the 31st of March.
So if any collectors are out there and are interested in this unique item, let me know.
Cheers all. Harry.

1 AnswerBoard Games1 decade agoAny suggestions for a GOOD draughts or checkers site?
I like playing draughts (checkers) with online opponents. I've tried Yahoo and MSN, but frankly the games featured on these sites are not very good. They seem to be unpredictable, and mess up quite frequently. I've also looked for other sites, but so far I've not had too much luck. Anyone know of a really good site? I'd be ever so grateful for any advice you may have.
Cheers everyone. Harold Walters.
1 AnswerBoard Games1 decade agoWhat happened in 1814 USA?
I remember the words of the song "The battle of New Orleans" recorded by Lonnie Donnegan. It went something like this:" In 1814 we took a little trip, down the coast of Mexico and up the mississip, we took a little bacon, and we took a little beans, and we fought the ruddy British in a town called New Orleans...."
Now as far as I can remember, the USA chucked out the British in 1781 or there abouts. Which was many years before 1814. So, to all you historians out there, is Lonnie Donnigan incorrect in his recollections? Or did a battle take place in New Orleans in 1814 as the song suggests?
Love your answer on this one guys. Cheers, Harold Walters.
7 AnswersHistory1 decade agoWhy do radio stations occasionally have bad reception?
Normally the radio station I listen to in my car (Radio 5 Live) has a perfectly acceptable reception. However, some days, for no apparent reason the reception is bad. For example, yesterday I tuned in to radio 5 Live and it hissed and spluttered all day long. I changed channel, and the reception was perfect. The weather was cloudy, drizzly and slightly windy. So I assumed that the poor reception was due to atmospheric conditions.
But what puzzles me is; why, when the following day when the weather condition turned out to be virtually the same, did the reception on radio 5 Live turn out to be perfect?

3 AnswersOther - Electronics1 decade agoDo I have to have a qualified fitter to remove a Gas fire?
Because of the different rules different countries have in dealing with gas installation and removal, this question for UK residents only.
I have a gas fire installed, and I want to remove it. However, although I realise I need a qualified CORGI fitter to install a gas fire, I'm not entirely sure if I need one to remove it.
It seems to me to be waste to call out a gas fitter simply to turn a screw to disconnect the gas from the fire, and then to undo a nut in order to disconnect the fire from the gas pipe.
Can anyone make any suggestions here?
Thanks everyone. Harold Walters.

6 AnswersDrawing & Illustration1 decade agoWhat are the rules concerning the right to challenge a call in tennis?
Like most people in the UK, I've been watching the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament. But what puzzles me is why the tennis umpire is inconsistent with his decisions concerning the challenge rule. For example, say a player has his ball called out, but he believes it should have been called in, he (The player) challenges that call. Now lets say for example that the player is proved to be correct. What I've noticed is that sometimes the umpire awards that player the point, but on other occasions he (The umpire) decides to make the players re-play the point. Why does the umpire do that?
Thanks in anticipation guys, Harold Walters.

2 AnswersOther - Computers1 decade agoIs there an alternative to the RADAR designed disabled toilet lock?
Most RADAR public disabled toilet locks are designed to open with a
RADAR key, even if it is locked from the inside. Consequently, I am
looking for a suitable alternative locking device, ones that when locked will stay locked unless, in an emergency they can be opened by emergency staff with an over riding key. I would be extremely
grateful if anyone could give me any advice on where to find such an alternative locking device.
Thank you for your anticipated co-operation,

How to make Yahoo Web Search default to UK only.?
I use Yahoo UK & Ireland as my home page. Whenever I use Yahoo's search bar, I usually want to search in the UK. Consequently, I have to change the default from "The Web" to "Uk Only" However, time after time I forget to make the change, and I find that extremely irritating.
Is there a way to make "UK Only" the default? I would be extremely grateful if anyone could show me how. Oh! By the way, if you could help, I would be even more grateful if you could be as detailed as possible, as my knowledge of computer jargon is so limited it's hard to believe. Thanks in anticipation folks. Harold Walters.

1 AnswerYahoo Search1 decade agoSnow Patrol's "RUN" Does it make sense to you?
Hi, Now I know that I'm not the brightest spark on this planet of ours, but I just heard the song called "Run" being described as a classic. It was being described thus by Myleene Klass as she introduced Leona Lewis, who was about to sing the song on a recent TV programme.
And sing it she did. It sounded absolutely beautiful. However, I simply just could not make sense of the lyrics. She sang about singing to someone for the very last time. Then she warbled on how precious this someone was to her, and that she could barley look at her precious companion. However when she did force herself to finally look, she realised that they could make it anywhere away from here! Now it's REALLY starting to get weird. She suddenly asks this someone to light up!! Something about no choice being had, and the inability to hear. But not to fear she will always stay right beside whoever she is singing to. It goes on like this making no sense after no sense.
Can anyone decipher this odd song? If so, I would love to hear from you. All the best. Harold Walters.
