In my unfinished basement i can see the joist. (Not sure of the size 2x10 maybe). The house is about 100yrs old. .. How much weight can i hang from the joist. I basically want to get my bike, luggage, misc. junk off the floor and hand it off the joist..

I have a gas dryer and have no use for a 4 prong outlet. i would like to make use of this outlet and convert it over to a "regular" 3 prong outlet. this is in an unfinished basement, so i can trace/see the wiring back to the breaker box. the wires is connected to (2) 15 fuses (if this helps any). please guide me in the right direction.

I want to add an outlet in our hallway so i can plug in a night light. There is currently a light switch that controls the ceiling lights. Can i basically install a junction box a few feet under the light switch, run some wires from box to box and basically connect the wires together?

I have a 4 prong outlet in my laundry room that isn't being used. unfinished basement, and i am able to trace the wire back to the box. Is there any way i can make use of the outlet by converting it to a standard 3 prong outlet??

Recently purchased a new gas dryer. (prev homeowner used elec. dryer). There is gas hookup behind where the dryer would be for a gas dryer. Do I have to use the excising 4 prong outlet for a gas dryer (dryer comes w/ a standard 3 prong outlet)?

Besides the 4prong outlet there is not another out for another 10 feet or so. Can i simply use a heavy duty extension cord for both the washer/dryer.

If a 4 prong is not nec. for a gas dryer can i convert the 4prong back to a standard 3 prong therefore eliminating an extension cord

My 2gal. gas container currently has a oil/gas mixture (for weed whacker) inside of it.. When the mixture runs out, can i just simply refill it with gas (no oil) and reuse the container for my lawn mover or do i need to wash out the container..

installing new floating bamboo floor, i have heat vents built into the current floor. can i just simply remove the vent cover, lay the floor up to the edge of the open vent and just put the cover back on top of the new floor?? will the heat hurt the new floor???

We installed cement backerboard and then self leveling cement in preperation for tiles. Insted of tile can I just install hardwood floor over the SLC and backerboard?

Can i use self leveling cement over new 1/8" cement backerboard? "We" decided to fix the dip in the kitchen floor after i placed, and screwed in the backerboard. ahh this project is killin me. 8o)

My son is turning 1 next month.... Problem is our condo is too small to entertain 30 or so guest (mainly adults). My wife suggest we have at lunch at this "up scale" restaurant that we frequent (private room). I think its odd to have a child's b-day party at such a restaurant... am i wrong??

Can i use joint compound (instead of wood filler) to fill in a few tiny holes in pcs of wood. Aslo can joint compound be stained.. thanks

I find wood filler very hard to work with and always leaves an akward mark after stained

Replaced motherboard, then pwr supply, and lastly processor. still no go.

Video card built into motherboard if this info helps.

Monitor works - hooked it up to my laptop to test.

Why is there a list of banned fishes in my state, your state? I can understand banning certain animals, but how can a fish be harmful to keep?

not sure where to ask this but here it goes: Many moons ago, i used to goto this night club in Cambidge (near Alewife T ) called Faces. Place was packed every night. All of a sudden it closed. Why did it closed, and why does the vacant building still stand after almost 20yrs w/o any effort in converting it into another business/residential prop.??

Uncycled tank, cloudy water, goldfish dead. Prior to the fish's death, it was covered with fuzzy (cotton like) white stuff (not ick).. is this cotton like stuff from the uncycled tank? do i have to flush the tank out or just continue to cycle the tank out??

just purchased a double-tail male betta 4 days ago.. place him in a 2 gallon tank. He won't eat, and sit in the bottom of the tank.. i set up the tank as usually. (i have 3 other healthy, active bettas among my other fishes)..

also noticed a small cotton ball like object at the bottom of the tank, (fish does not have "ich") what is it??

I was hit in the hamstring region with a line-drive softball. 4 months later the hugh bruise (approx 9" x 4") is still there, the area is also tender when touched.. i can walk, jump, and have regular movement with no problem.

why is the bruise still there after 4+months??
