I'm trying to buy my son a used 2-seater go-kart as a reward for straight A's. 2-seaters are hard to come by. I found one that is a 5 hr drive from us. The seller revealed that the engine sputters a bit. She sent me video. It's a good looking cart but the sputtering concerns me.

She stated the cart has been sitting unused in the garage for 2 years and did not have the sputtering before it was stored.

Could the old gas have done permanent damage? Or might the sputtering stop once the old gas and oil are changed? It is a Tecumseh Power Sport 5.0 HP engine.
