  • maxxima in wall digital timer switch there are 4 wires my wall only has 3?

I have a digital in wall timer (Maxxima) and for the life of me i cannot understand the instructions. they are as follows: connect the hot wire of the building to the black wire from the timer. Connect the neutral wire of the building to the neutral wire on the timer (white). Connect the light wire to the red wire from the timer. Then there is this green wire hanging out, with no instructions for it.

My house has the following: Black, White and unprotected copper. My copper does not carry a current (so it would seem) as i can touch it with the house power on. Normally it goes to the green screw on a socket/plug/receptacle.

if i read the instructions right... then black would go to black on the house, red on the switch would go to white on the house, white would go to the bare copper wire.... where does the green wire go??? To the screw mounting the switch to the wall?

  • VGA Connection to HD LCD TV Limitation?

Why is it that I can use my VGA connection on my LCD Monitor and get better than 1024x768 coming off my laptop (480p). I can get many resolutions higher.

Yet my HD LCD TV will only handle 1024x768. From all that I've read, it is not possible to go from VGA to HDMI, as a converter is required and the cost outweighs the benefit.

You also cannot go from VGA to component as the TV cannot interpret it.

So why is it that my while my video card can export higher resolution than 1024x768 my LCD Monitors can handle a greater resolution, yet my LCD HD TV Cannot?

  • Does copper corrode in gasoline?

I have car with a fuel tank that has a plastic baffle, with a rubber hose connected to it (pickup line), which connects to the pump. This rubber line tends to get limp, and collapses over time, resulting in a blown fuel pump. I had wanted to replace it with a copper line. The copper line needs to be 1/4 inch in width. Was wondering if the copper will corrode within the tank, sending crud further down the system, thus resulting in downstream issues with the fuel system.
