Married in Arkansas but live in Alabama. How would someone go about getting a divorce.?
My son was married in December of 2009 but him and his wife separated in April of 2010. There are no kids involved or property and this is a non-contested divorce. Can he file in Alabama since that is where he lives now, or does he have to go back to Arkansas to file? Also, can this be done without hiring an attorney? Thanks for all info provided.

2 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoWhy was my question deleted?
I asked a question yesterday about an appraisal on a home and now it has been deleted. I checked the guidelines and fail to see why. GEEZ, what is Yahoo Answers for if you can't ask a simple question about a home appraisal and get it deleted? Come on Yahoo, at least give me an explanation as to why since there is no way we can contact you personally. Or does anyone know of such a website. OH well this will probably get deleted too but what's the deal.

My husband and I just had an appraiser appraise our new home we are buying for 110,000. Looking in the counties tax records it shows the same home to be appraised for 143,900. What's the deal because I surely don't understand. By the way, the tax records were dated 3-24-10 which would be current.

4 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoCan someone clarify the smoking ordinance that is now all over the country?
My husband filled out a job application where he answered "Yes" to do you smoke. He called the company back to check on the application and the manager told him he did not get the job due to the fact that he is a smoker. OK, so he wouldn't smoke at work but in the privacy of his home after work, so is this discrimination. It didn't ask if he drank (which we both don't) just asked if he was a smoker. Thanks for any insight and answers. I know about the smoking ordinances, but never have heard of not getting a job because of smoking. The manager also told him he had quite a resume and was well qualified for the job. He has 20 years experience. Just wondering, sort of confused.
4 AnswersLaw & Ethics1 decade agoSecond Mortgage, please help?
I am in the process of purchasing a home in Alabama. I live and work in TX. and this home will not be my primary residence until around July or August of this year. My question is, how will the mortgage company look at this loan, either as a second home or my primary residence. I do on planning on retiring in June and my husband already has prospects of another job, can we purchase the home based on our income now, or will we have to wait until we draw retirement and my husband's new salary to determine our income? This whole process is confusing. Any help would greatly be appreciated

5 AnswersUnited States1 decade agoOff the market on foreclosure?
I have been interested on a forclosure that was listed on line. I checked today and the home was "taken off the market" . What does this mean. Was it sold or did the home go to the govt. We were going to place a bid on the home but never got to. Just wondering if I should keep checking to see if the home is listed with someone else. Thanks for any help any of you can provide.

3 AnswersRenting & Real Estate1 decade agoCan someome explain the below to me?
Five years ago my husband and I tried to get a home loan. We were told that we had too much outstanding credit, being our credit cards. We have paid off over 16,000 in debt on 7 credit cards and only have one now with a low balance. We went a couple of weeks ago to apply for another home loan and were told that we didn't have enough credit. First we had too much, then now we don't have any. We worked hard to pay off the credit cards to we could buy our home, but were told we couldn't because of no credit. Oh, we have three car payment, never been late on those either. We can buy cars but what is the deal with the credit cards? Anyone enlighten me on this or had the same problem?
3 AnswersCredit1 decade agoAnyone trying to quit smoking?
I am on my first day of quitting smoking after being a smoker for 40 years. I'm trying "cold turkey" but that is not working very well. I wanted to check and see if anyone is quitting the habit and what you are trying to do. I've heard of various smoke cessation programs and medications and was wondering if they are worth the price. Thank you for any information anyone can give me.

5 AnswersToys1 decade agoHeels for babies? What's your opinion?
I saw a excerpt from a show the other night of the mother that had invented heels for a baby. OMG. How can someone put those things on a child knowing they can't walk in them. Looks like it would have a bad outcome in future years on the baby. What's your thoughts and would you buy them? I noticed that the heel collapsed when the child walked on them. In that case, then why have them? I know that they can be fashionable, but how healthy are they?

Just sort of an off-the-wall question, but just curious. Other than cutting back on saving gas are any of you stocking up on groceries, etc.? That is all you hear about lately so I was just curious. Also, has anyone lived through a recession?
