  • 38 weeks pregnant and 4 cm dilated-- Will this mean a faster labor?

This is my 3rd pregnancy- I was at the doctor last week and was 3 cm dilated, today at 38 1/2 weeks I am 4 cm dilated. What I am wondering is if I am almost 1/2 way (to 10cm/pushing) then should I expect labor to be quicker once it starts?

#1- I was induced, at 1/2 cm and took 12 hours

#2- Water broke, at check in to hospital I was 1 cm, and took 12 hours

    Thanks

  • Do you lock the seatbelt with a high back booster?

I just got a high back booster seat for my daughter. No where in the book can I find out if you are supposed to pull the seat belt ALL the way out till it locks, then let it go back in after you have buckled. Or do you just buckle as if an adult were sitting there. And leave the belt flexible. Thanks!

  • Reintroduced breast milk after using Soy Formula?

I was wondering what people's experience with Soy formula is? I had been breast feeding with horrible results (daughter so gassy, screaming fits, colicy) then went to a couple formulas with no change and the Dr. said to start soy for 5 days and see how it goes. She is doing wonderful after just 2 days, a whole new happy baby. I love it!! Problem is, I have been pumping and freezing the breast milk for 2 weeks.

SO--- Has any of you had babies that needed to be on soy, and then outgrown it within a short period?? I am wondering if all that milk in the freezer will go to waste?? Or if she will have to be on soy forever. I know babies are all different, I am just wondering your experience! Thank you--

  • Symptoms of colic in your baby?

My daughter is 10 weeks old and has colic. There are days that she only cries a few minutes here and there, and other days that she cries for up to 6 hours straight!! Most days she just has "crying fits" I would call them. Something just sets her off, and she will SCREAM forever. She will be happy and smiling and giggling, and in a split second she is screaming in pain for hours. Is this normal?? I just wonder what other people's experience with colic is and what kind of symptoms they have.

And she screams, she doesn't just cry, she screams in pain!! Does your baby just cry a lot or is it worse than crying??

  • Traveling from NY into Niagara Falls Canada next weekend. Should I convert money?

Traveling with my husband and daughter into Canada next weekend. The hotel is already booked. I have not been there in about 10-15 years, and I remember my parents going to our bank here, in NY and changing over a few hundred dollars american, into canadian before we went. Should I still do this?? Will I get penalized for using american dollars at little stores/food/etc?? Or is a credit card the best bet??

  • Can you mount an aluminum fence onto concrete instead of in the ground?

I have an in-ground pool with a square concrete pad around it. I want to get a black aluminum fence around it, and mount it ONTO the concrete at the edge. Is it OK to do this?? I am hearing two stories, Yes and No!! They sell mounting brackets for it to be mounted to concrete, so why would a fence company say not to do it?? He said it would sag, but the aluminum is so thin, it's not going to get any drag from wind, it's not going to be sat on, leaned against, or hung anything from.. Any advice??

  • Does freezing a cake make it easier to frost?

I am making my daughter's birthday cake tomorrow. Boxed cake, going to cut it into the shape of a rocket, then frosting/decorating tomorrow. I made it tonight.. Is it easier to decorate when it is frozen?? Also, should I cut it before freezing then, or is a frozen cake easy to cut without the crumbling effect of a thawed cake??? Like cutting frozen chicken is easier than cutting raw chicken?? ANY advice is great!

  • How to get rid of the fat under my arms in the bra area/back?

I am in a wedding in about 2 1/2 months and I tried on my dress last night. It just barely zips up. I had a baby about a year ago, and since then I have got alot of extra "baggage" lateral to my boobs, under my arms and into my back area where my bra line goes. Are there any exercises to target this area?? I plan on basic working out, dieting to loose weight everywhere, but what can I do to tone this area specifcially ?? Please help. I'd rather not have to pay for alterations, and I think 2 1/2 months is pretty fair time to loos about 1/2 - 1 inch at that area. Thanks!

  • What names go with Rachel?

My husband and I have a daughter named Rachel Caitlin. We are looking for a boy and girl name to go with that for our next child. We like sort of old fashioned names, but not dorky or real common names.

  • Best 1st fishing pole for my husband?

My husband is 27 years old, never fished before, but really wants to learn. What is a good starter/1st fishing pole for him to use? We live near a small lake and we have a pond on our property that has bass and sunfish in it. There are lake trout in the lake near us... Any suggestions on what he needs to start off?? Nothing TOO extreme, in case he hates it, but I don't want a real cheap one that is a pain and will make him hate it.

  • What should I give as a nightime snack when getting rid of the nightime bottle?

My daughter is 13 months old and is down to 1 bottle a day. Her bedtime bottle she drinks about 8 oz of milk. I do this mainly to make up for her volume that she should be drinking. She gets around 10 oz during the day in a cup. SO... My plan is to up her milk during the day, but what do I give her to eat at night so she won't wake up hungry. We eat dinner around 5:30, bedtime 7:30-8:00ish, and she sleeps about 11 hours. What is a good, nutritious snack that will keep her satisfied through the night?

  • 13 month old, Gentlease, Similac Soy, and whole milk Question.?

My daughter is 13 months old. I have been splitting her formula 1/2 and 1/2 with whole milk for the last month. (because we had so much left, I would rather use it than waste it) So anyways, the formula I had her on was Enfamil Gentlease. I have a sample can of Similac Soy formula that is still good till 2010. Is it OK to give this to her mixed 1/2 and 1/2 with the whole milk? It shouldn't bother her right being soy, or will it?? What should I watch for if I give it to her? Just wondering. And I have tried to find someone to give it to, but haven't.

  • What do you do with your 1 year old while you shower?

If you are home alone and have to shower, what do you do with your 1 year old to keep them safe, yet happy while you shower? Other than bring them right on in with you. Or correspond shower time to nap time. I do that too. I do just bring her in the shower with me almost every day, but her skin is getting so dried out from it I think. Just wondering.

  • My daughter won't eat jarred baby food anymore. What can I do with it?

My daughter will not eat baby food out of the jar anymore. She is just about 1 year old and eats just whatever we eat at this point. Which is fine, however I have about 20-30 jars of baby food left. I mix her fruits into yogurt in the morning and that is OK. She will sometimes eat the jarred breakfast cereals I have. But I am wondering what I can do with the jarred dinners. Any way I can sneak them into her diet? I hate seeing them go to waste. Stirring them into a meatloaf or burger or something? Anyone tried this before. Any good recipes?
