  • What's a good BBQ place in St. Louis?

I'm taking my family on a short vacation to St. Louis this summer and I want to find a good family-friendly BBQ place to eat at one night while we're there. Any suggestions? My kids are 9, 6, & < 1, so it has to be appropriate for kids and have some menu options that will satisfy them as well.

  • Cleaning out fuel tank?

I've got a Honda Magna in like new condition - bought it new in 1994, have hardly ridden it. It's sat in my garage for years without being driven, and naturally, the gas got pretty nasty and gummed everything up. I've cleaned the carbs, got everything moving good again, but there's a lot of rust in the fuel tank. A friend suggested I try putting some Iron Out in the tank, swish it around, let it sit, then drain it and flush it with water, then gasoline. Anyone see a big problem with trying Iron Out in the tank? It's so bad, I may end up having to buy a new tank anyway, so I'm thinking, "What have I got to lose?" Any thoughts?

  • Problems with Ford 6.0L Diesel engine?

The EMS agency I work for is taking bids for a new ambulance. I've read that there were a lot of problems with the 6.0L Diesel engines in recent years. Is Ford still manufacturing this engine? One bid we received shows a 2008 E450 with a 6.0L Diesel, although I understood that this engine was discontinued.

  • Bird house for cardinals?

I'm wanting to build a birdhouse specifically for cardinals. Anyone know what kind of house is best for them? Where can I find plans for one? I've found a lot of plans online for other birds, but not much for cardinals. Do they not prefer built houses?

  • Affordable online investing for small investor?

Are there any ways I can invest in individual stocks without paying huge fees? I'd like to set up an account where I put maybe $50-$100 a month into it, and have some choice regarding what stocks these funds are invested in.

I've looked at sites like etrade, scottrade, and sharbuilder, but when they're talking about $7 trades, or $12 monthly fees, that takes a BIG chunk out of my money. If I'm starting out by giving up 10% of my investment off the top, it hardly seems worth it.

  • Do I need both a DVD/RW and a CD/RW?

I'm getting ready to order a computer. I want to be able to burn CD's, and thought I might spend the extra to get a DVD/RW as well. My question is, can you burn CD-format files with a DVD/RW? In simple terms, I want to be able to record music onto a CD and play the CD in my truck. Can I do that with a DVD/RW or do I also need a CD/RW?

  • How do I start this cover letter?

I'm having writer's block and can't get an introduction written for my cover letter. I'm applying for a job as a paramedic, and am sending my resume to a service that is the type of service I want to work for in the area where I want to be. However, I don't know if there are currently any openings. I want this resume to be considered for any openings they may have, or any positions that may come open in the future. How do I state this in my cover letter introduction?

  • O/D OFF light blinking?

I recently got a 99 Ford Ranger pickup with automatic overdrive. The previous owner had just had the transmission flushed and checked, and shortly after I started driving the vehicle, the O/D OFF light started flashing. When I shift out of drive, back into drive, into park - or any combination of shifting - the light continues to blink, but when I shut the ignition off and then restart, the light doesn't come on again. It only happens when driving in stop-and-go traffic.

The vehicle also shifts hard from 1st to 2nd gear, but shifts smoothly otherwise. I checked the transmission fluid and found that it is full - perhaps a little "over" full.

Any thoughts on what could be happening?

  • I think the book is wrong?

I'm tutoring a student in algebra, and one of the questions doesn't seem to work with the answer given in the answer guide.

    The question is:

A person can see 72 miles to the horizon from an airplane window. How high is the airplane? Use the formula V = 3.5*SQRT(h)

The answer given is 3600 ft.

No other information should be needed (like the diameter/circumference of the earth as this is a basic college algebra class). Even trying to convert between feet and miles in different ways, I can't get the answer.

  • Buying a low mileage, older car?

I'm looking at buying a 1990 Buick Skylark, with only 15,000 actual miles on it. Yes, that's 15,000 - not a typo! My concern is whether or not I'll run into a lot of problems due to the age of this car. Since it hasn't been run much, will I likely run into problems like dried out, cracked gaskets and seals? Or, should everything be in pretty good shape still?

  • What OS should I use?

I have an old laptop that I want to format the hard drive and reinstall an OS from scratch. I've been using XP, but would like to use something that might be less taxing on my system (and cheaper). All I really need to do is web surfing and MS Office applications. What OS would you recommend? I'm considering Win98 because I can pick it up pretty cheap.

  • Should laws be based on morals?

Is it right to enact legislation that is based solely on the moral beliefs of the lawmakers, or even of society? My philosophy is that citizens should be free to do as they please, as long as their actions or inactions do not harm another citizen physically, emotionally, or financially.

For a little reading on the topic, check out the book "Ain't Nobody's Business if You Do" by Peter McWilliams. http://www.mcwilliams.com/books/aint/toc.htm

  • c:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe isn't executing on startup?

This should execute automatically, but somehow I must have screwed something up. Is there a spot in the system registry where it should be? Is it executed by another program that has gotten corrupted?

  • Is there a download that will restore the system registry to the default settings?

I was trying to clean up my system registry after malware changed some of the settings, and I think I inadvertently removed or changed the part that automatically executes explorer.exe on startup. Now, my computer will only boot up part way - the desktop doesn't appear. I can manually execute explorer and it will finish activating the desktop, but I'd like to fix it correctly. Is there a way to easily add this command back into the registry, and if so, how and where? If not, is there a download that I can use to restore the default settings for the system registry?

  • What is most important to gain entrance into Heaven?

When we die, will we be judged by our belief or by our acts during our lives? I have a hard time believing that someone could believe in God but live a sinful life and still have a better chance of getting into Heaven than someone who lived a life based on Christ's teachings, but didn't necessarily believe.

  • Where is the proof of God?

According to the Bible, God has revealed Himself to several people throughout history. If that is the case, why hasn't He revealed himself to scientists today to prove his own existence? Why hasn't He left any scientific evidence to support His existence? Or what's even more puzzling to me...Why has He left scientific evidence leading toward DISproving His existence?

  • Banging noise on acceleration?

I've noticed lately in my 1994 Buick Skylark (3.1 L V6) that when I accelerate hard, or if I'm going uphill while accelerating (basically anytime there's a good workload on it) I hear a banging noise. It's not terribly loud. Any ideas?

  • Best Southern Rock music?

I love to cook and I love music. I often combine the two into a "theme night" at my house. I'm trying to plan a theme night that will combine my favorite food with my favorite music - southern-style.

If I want to burn a CD of the best Southern Rock music, what should I include (bands and/or songs)?

Two obvious choices to get you started (and give you an idea of my personal tastes): Lynyrd Skynyrd and .38 Special...what else would you add?
