I'm 24! I live in Arlington, Texas and recently graduated from Southern Methodist University Dedman School of Law. I love to read fiction stories. I also like bowling, as goofy as that sounds. I have a cat named Matilda that I adore!

  • Do you agree or disagree with embryonic stem cell research?

Why or why not? And if you agree, do you think it should be funded by the federal government at all, or be a privately funded venture?

  • What would you spend government money on?

If you could select one program or project to spend $100 million on, what would you choose?

Examples: Welfare, Border patrol/fence, war supplies, etc.

Or you can choose anything, broad or specific, that you think is important (i.e. investing in alternative fuel projects).

  • Do you support or propose proposition 8? ?

Even if you are not a California resident, do you support or oppose it and why? Additionally, I would like if people could provide non-religious reasons, if able. Religious reasons are okay, but additional reasons are encouraged.

  • What is one question that you would like a candidate to answer during the debates or during interviews?

Please state the name of the candidate (vice presidential or presidential) and a serious question that you would like them to answer. It can be the candidate you support or the opposing party. Please no smearing or snide remarks about any candidate.

  • Which candidate would you LEAST like to see as president?

Of all the three top players in this presidential election (Obama, Clinton, and McCain) who would you least like to see in office? If you are republican, don't put "a democrat"; pick the Democrat you would least like to see of the two. If you wish, you can include the person that you are voting for.

  • How do you feel about welfare programs?

Actually, more specifically, how do you feel about things such as welfare, WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children), food stamps, etc.? These programs are undeniably abused by some, but in general what is your view about their existence/application?

Do you think they are good and should stay the same? Be reformed? Be eliminated?

  • What is the single most important issue in this election?

What do you feel is the SINGLE most important issue? And why do you think it is most important? Obviously there are many important issues to be concerned with, but please choose the one that you value above all others.

  • How do you feel about the president's effect on the economy?

It has been vigorously argued that Bush has ruined our economy. Conversely, it has been asserted that while our economy is in bad shape, it isn't really Bush's fault (at least not his alone). This is because it is said that a decision made today will not show any effect for about 5 years due to the enomority of our economy in the world. So, it is argued, that a lot of the economic problems we have experienced in the past 8 years were an inheritance of the Clinton administration (decisions then just began to have effect a few years ago) What do you think?

  • Do you think the federal government should ban same-sex marriage?

I would like to hear opinions on this. Should the federal government ban same-sex marriage? Should it be left up to the individual states to decide? Should it be legalized?

And does your presidential candidate have the same views? Is this important to you at all in choosing a candidate?

  • What platforms do you support for your presidential choice?

Please name the person you plan to vote for. In addition, what are 3 platforms that you agree with that person on. AND what is one platform that you disagree on. Please don't say there are no disagreements because nobody agrees with every single thing that their candidate espouses.

  • What do you think about the tax break for "rich" people?

A big contention of the Democrats has been Bush's tax break for his rich, white friends. Give your opinion of the matter, BUT consider this. People at the level pay a higher percentage of their income, plus their taxes are a huge percentage of the overall income that they government gets. A man that makes $350,000 a year pays somewhere around 34% (I'm not sure if that's exact) and his federal income tax alone is enough to support like 4 or 5 families on welfare. So, why does it matter that they don't pay a higher percentage than they already do?

Also, one last thing, these rich people that get a the small break are keeping the money and stimulating the economy, because realistically they do a lot more purchasing than the person that makes $35,000 a year.

  • If the candidate you support were to lose, who would you rather have as president?

It can be the same party, or even better you can choose the other party candidate. So, if you like Clinton, would your second choice be Obama? Or McCain? I just want to see.

I have more republican views, but I wouldn't mind seeing Obama as president if it is not gonna be the candidate I prefer.

  • Scientologists! Or Anyone! Why?

Why do people practice Scientology? I'm agnostic. But at least I understand the main religions (i.e Christianity, Islam, Judaism). These religions have been around for millenia, and have some basis, but people KNOW that scientology was just made-up. How can people believe in its tenets?

  • Who's your favorite presidential candidate right now...?

And, in a short answer, why? I know it's kinda sketchy who will actually run in primaries and general elections, but of those announced in the news as hopefuls, who do you most like?

Also, he would you least like to see win, just one person?

  • If you somehow won $1 million dollars, would you...?

    a) keep it for yourself

    b) give it to you church

    c) give it to a charity (if so, which one)

I'm just curious what religious people are most likely to do with their money. And whether they would, for instance, give it to a charity verses tithing it to their church. You can explain why do pick the one you do.

  • Atheists: Know of any websites that dispute the Bible?

One in particular has like 50 reasons not the believe the Bible, but I can't remember what it was and I never got to read about it. I have heard of a couple websites and visited some of them, but now I can't remember them. I wanted to review them again so that I could do a little more research about the claims made therein. Obviously they are biased sites, so I wanted to find non-biased sources to either support or dispute the claims on the sites. And obviously, I have to know the websites first before I can do any of that. Thanks for the help.

Oh, and if you have an comments on particular sites, good or bad, let me know. Thanks.

  • Christians: Why are the immoral parts of the OT disregarded?

I have heard that when Jesus came, he basically wiped the slate clean and set the new law. But the Ten Commandments still stand, right, and they were part of the OT. In addition, doesn't this excerpt show that the old ways are NOT to be thrown out....

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished." Matthew 5:17-18

So, my question is, why does Christianity still employ the 10 Commandments, yet disregard the other parts of the OT, especially the violent and immoral parts (i.e. God killing children, punishment for working on the Sabbath is death, etc.)? And why are these things disregarded if Jesus said no law shall fail?

This is not meant to offend, but to understand better. Thanks.
