  • Where in the bible can I find this parable?

Where in the bible can I find the parable about the tax collector that gives a portion of his money to the temple and the poor women that gives all she has?

  • in terms of being a christian, is life truly meaningful?

I don't mean does it feel meaningful or "spiritual" I mean ultimately does your life really have a meaning?

if god is going to end the world anyway, how could your life possibly be meaningful?

I stated this on a answer but I thought it made a good question.

"they believe life is meaningless?" stereotype. I believe that when you can't prove something to be true or not to be true, the rational answer is I don't know. that doesn't mean I think life is meaningless. maybe it is maybe not. there is no way to know for sure. because atheist believe what they do doesn't mean they don't have emotion. that would be a stereotype. when I was a christian I probably would have thought the same thing simply because some one told me. its a shame.

suppose life is meaningless and you ask the question "what does life mean?" then if you can't except that maybe asking/pondering questions isn't for you.

tell me this though, if you life this "meaningful" life then die and go to heaven for eternity, what does your life mean and to who? if you save the world a hundred time just to have Jesus come back and end it what does your life really mean? when it comes to life being meaningful I don't know is a much better answer than "I do know." because if you do know on faith then life really isn't that meaningful, in people eye you achieved nothing because god ended the world anyway and in gods eyes you mean nothing for the same reason.

  • how many times does the bible command to murder? And how many times does it command not to murder?

Ok so the bible says not to kill. “Thou shall not kill.” Only once that I know of. I suppose you could include the “love your neighbor” kind of verses (just make sure your done loving her before her husband gets home). Although those technically don’t say “don’t kill”

The bible orders to kill, many time in the bible. I’m just wondering exactly how many. You’d practically have to read the whole thing but I’m curious. It says to kill:

    Blasphemers/followers of other religions (Lev. 24:10-16) also (Exodus 22:19), (2 Chronicles 15:12-13), (Deuteronomy 13:7-12), (Deuteronomy 17:2-5)

any one going too close to the tabernacle (Numbers 1:48-51)

not observing Sabbath (it actually says Saturday !?!) (Exo. 31:14, Exo. 35:2)

children that disobeying parents (Deut. 21:20)

    cursing your parents (Exo. 21:17)

    homosexuals (Lev. 20:13)

    sex during menstruation (Lev. 20:18)

loss of virginity (if unmarried?) (only for a woman) (Deut. 22:21)

    adultery (Lev. 20:10)

all who sin (The soul who sins shall die.) (ezik 18:4)

    witches (Exodus 22:17)

    fortunetellers (Leviticus 20:27)

    hitting a parent(s) (Exodus 21:15)

    false prophets (Zechariah 13:3)

the whole town if one person worships another god (Deuteronomy 13:13-19) (Deuteronomy 13:1-5) (Deuteronomy 18:20-22)

    infidels (and gays) (Romans 1:24-32)

working on the Sabbath (Exodus 31:12-15)

    sons of sinners (Isaiah 14:21)

…and others. Those are just a few I know.

The other category is when the bible says to go to war. Technically this is a separate category being that I’m looking to see how many times it commands people in general to kill. Like in (Jeremiah 51:20-26) it talks about killing the old men and young women in Babylon. That’s not really a “command” to people in general to kill. Although not long after God promises the Israelites a victory against Babylon, the Israelites actually get there butts (yes I play nice) handed to them by them in the next chapter.

I also thought this was interesting:

Cursed be he who does the Lords work remissly, cursed he who holds back his sword from blood. (Jeremiah 48:10)

Basically I’m considering the bibles credibility on the topic. So far I see 1 no kill and 23 kills.

  • A big Question about Mormonism?

I’m not trying to be mean it’s just I don’t see how the book of Mormon could possibly be true. Which is why I’m looking to see if any one can answer my question.

According to Mormonism Jesus came to ancient America and the ancient Americans wrote a book about it. Then Joseph smith found it, read it and made the Mormon religion out of it. How do you write a book with no written language? In all the Americas there was no written language before the Europeans.

Even if they could have done this, how does Joseph Smith read an ancient language?

I think is suspicious that a man how was known for story telling and convicted for lying happened to find a book and then hide it when no one was looking.

I asked a doctor of philosophy at the local Mormon institute (I live near a university) and he just kind of started squirming and trying to change the topic. He seemed to be a fairly intelligent man, which made this seem odd to me. Latter day saints seem very confident in there beliefs so I’m assuming there’s an answer.

  • If money is the root of all evil why do churches want it so much?

from Pat Robinson (700 Club), Billy Graham, to your local church all want your money. but thay say its the root of all evil. I think they say its evil just so you'll give them more. or mabe its to help pat robinson find a way to give the United states supreme chort that cancer that he's been praying (on live TV!) that they get.
